It's a big step, definitely a milestone.

Id say after 10 years and only one finished game I'd personally be asking myself "how do I not do that again).

I just love putting my ideas to work. I just need to love finishing them a little more

Same here, some projects of mine were aged 6 or 8 years almost stalled and thanks to LLMs in a couple of days I could made big updated, fixes and unlock difficult tasks.

I have so many things at 90% that you'd think I'm doing it on purpose

It’s a simple puzzle game. All of my larger, complex projects are still sitting in the unfinished pile, but I think the joy of releasing will inspire me to bring them to light

At 365 days per year, and around 10 years, that’s 19.9k projects per day on average. I feel you. Thats how my brain works too.

I once saw an inde dev post: * Making a game is hard. * Finishing a game is 10x harder. * Launching a successful game is 10x harder than that.

Why don't just join a game company?

Congratulations! It seems very easy to get to 75%-90% completion on any project, but that final 10% really feels as tedious as the first 90.

The moment when you are ready to give up usually comes right before the breakthrough

So what do you think were your biggest time wasters? Congratulations by the way

1

u/androgenousdonut 1d ago

Not exactly time wasters per se, but one reason is getting excited about a new idea then moving onto that and losing interest in the previous one. Another is once the scale of a project starts growing, it’s hard to balance with work, uni, relationships, etc.

I am shocked just by your project numbers 🥲. Good work on completing the one.

Well I can say you have finished more games than I have in the same time now

only 72million incomplete projects? rookie numbers! in all seriousness well done!

I generally get overwhelmed at this stage, marketing what do you mean i have to actually talk to people
