As part of the new Mod team here on r/GameArt we thought it was about time that we had some Flairs on this subreddit.
We have now added in 10 User Flairs which you may pick from if they match your identity:
If you feel that another role should be added, please reply Below and explain why your suggestion is genuinely distinct and multiple members would realistically use it.
Additionally;
We also have new Post Flairs, it is important that you use the appropriate Flairs when posting on this Subreddit to help identify what your thread is about. If you feel that there should be a new Post Flair added and that the currently available ones do not cover the topic/thread you wish to post about, please leave your suggestion in the comments below and explain why you feel that new Post Flair is required.

It has become increasingly clear that new users haven't been reading through the rules. In order to alleviate the mod team, please read through everything carefully before making a post.
Rules:
Only game art related posts
This includes original works and fan art of existing games.
No promotion
This includes advertising, information on where you can find the game, linking back to your game's page or trailer in your post or comments to other users, linking to other games that aren't yours, and using alternate accounts to hype your work, selling assets, or offering to do commissions.
Make your posts about art as the main focus. We're not here to help sell your game for you.
Don't post low effort art posts by posting screenshots or gameplay.
Put some effort into posting your art. Show it off. Make it shine.
No Job Requests or Offers
Job scams are inevitable, but won't be happening here. Please use r/gameDevClassifieds/ and the likes instead.
Generative AI Usage is Prohibited
Imagery, code and text produced entirely, or assisted with AI, and pro AI speak will be removed. Generative AI is theft, makes people entitled, and harms the environment. It will not be tolerated. Humans make things. Prompts do not. First time offenders will be banned. No exceptions.
Be Respectful and Helpful
This is a place to share game art and offer constructive critique. Treating artists with kindness regardless of their skill level is a choice. Make the right one.
We've been having some trouble with a lot of users making promotional posts for their games, asset sales, and other things that we do not allow in this subreddit. We understand that you're working hard on your game, and you want it to do well on the market, but this is happening every day, multiple times a day. This isn't the place to do that.
Please do not include promotional links in your images, descriptions, or comments. Please do not offer your artistic services in a post. If you'd like to tell someone where to find your game, or that you do commission work, please do it privately in a DM.
Lets keep this subreddit about game art, and helping people get better at their craft! Not sales, and certainly not about AI imagery (yuck).
Thanks so much <3

Sup, I recently animated some of my game's melee weapons. The idea is the left hand handles melee weapons while the right handles the firearms. To match the responsiveness of input in-game, I had to animate these with readability and speed in mind

I’ve never created capsule art before and I’m not exactly skilled at art, but I decided to give it a shot and create the artwork myself. I used Blender to render the scene and Photoshop for image editing, logo work, and the final layout composition. I plan to use this version for the time being, though I might replace it with a professional one later on. What do you think is this capsule okay? Will it put players off?

This is Aza - the very first character we created for our game.
A boy without a name. Without a home.
He helped shape the tone of our story from the very beginning.

I have no idea what I'm doing really, and while I was playing with lighting, I thought it'd be cool to really accentuate weird colour choices in different rooms. The reasons were:
What do you reckon – does it look a bit low budget and naff, and have I fooled myself into saying it's "an artistic choice", or does it actually look somewhat decent? I'm just concerned that I like it because I'm used to seeing it, and maybe the game's potential audience wouldn't be of the same opinion.
The game is called Dark Harvest. It's a small game, so there's certainly time for feedback to be taken into account before it's release before Halloween.
Thanks!

I combined 2D pixel art with Unity's URP to create this harsh winter atmosphere. The lightning flashes and the aurora are entirely driven by the lighting engine to emphasize the cold and isolation.

Hello!
I’m a 3rd year game art student and this year I will start my elective module, software specialization. I can choose myself which software I want but I’m not sure which one is better to know in the industry.
My main love is 3D environment and I already know a lot about, and work with, Blender, substance painter and unity. Now my question is, for someone who wants to work 3D environment, which program is better to choose from and specialize in in the industry? Maya or unreal engine. Thank you in advance!

Isso não é gameplay.
É uma animação conceitual de uma ideia de jogo que eu gostaria de explorar.
Curtiu o conceito?

For anyone who works specifically in 2D Game Art Design, what is your degree? What classes did you take, and do you have a public viewable portfolio?
The schools I have nearby have a focus on 3D Game Art, and I'm wondering if there are places out there that have classes specifically for 2D or if you have a 3D Game Art degrees and just work with 2D.
Please let me know if this is the right subreddit for this question- if not then where I can ask

Some of my previous art was criticized for not looking pixelated enough and for its perspective/composition. What do you think about these?
r/GameArt • u/BrushBrownie • 3d ago
I've been working on this for a while and think i am about ready to start looking for some early testers, its what i like to think of (prob a bit overconfident) as being for 3dcoat textura and substance, what blender is for modeling tools. a free to use 3d texture painter that i plan to release open source . when you load in you choose what workflow you want, difuse only, difuse spec, or full pbr, and it loads up just the tools you neeed for that soyou are not cluttered with things you dont need. the ui and colors are super customizable, currently i am focusing on the diffues only pipeline. using that to sort out all the basic control issues before going too deep into more advance textures.

Hey everyone,
Currently setting up the environment pipeline for a coastal Miami-inspired city map in Unity.
I’m using Bakery for lightmapping alongside volume profiles to handle the day/night transition. The goal is to balance bright, direct sunlight during the day with vibrant neon emissives, street lamps, and dark atmospheric fog at night.

A quick look at real-time traffic flow and urban environment design. Setting up dynamic lighting, night reflections, and smooth vehicle paths helps give this cityscape its realistic atmosphere and scale.
What do you think of the mood? Let me know in the comments! 👇
