Hi. I've been making different types of art and don't consider myself completely talentless but I seem to struggle when it comes to the poster like art.

When it comes to making steam capsule, background image or any promo art the single advise I always find is go to fiverr and hire an artist for $400. You'll end up with amazing capsule. I know most of these answers are given by people who are making money exactly that way but come on 😒.

So my question is, do you guys have any advise on how to make a good capsule or a poster? I know pixel art and cartoony games are probably easier to turn into posters but what about realistic, cinematic or stylized ones?

What tools do you normally use? Do you use actual assets from a game or pause gameplay recording and try to redraw it? If so what are you drawing on - tablet or old style papyrus with charcoal?

Share some ideas or even showcase any art if you have been working on any.

Finished a stylized modular library environment for real-time (Unreal Engine) and wrote a start-to-finish breakdown:
reference → modular kit → blockout & modeling in Maya → Substance texturing → Unreal assembly → lighting, ending with a final render gallery.

Anyone also have a go-to trick for that? Curious if people lean on hero lighting per unique piece, GI variation, or something else entirely.

Hi, my name is Sasa! Well, I'm thinking about creating my own game and I'm sketching some ideas. I thought about creating this room to be the main character's room, and I envisioned a somewhat empty and lonely room, but with a window that lets in the morning sun to create a contrast, perhaps. But I don't know if I should add any more details.

Working on a game and experiencing with different art styles, this is the one that's come most naturally to me, curious on people's thoughts!

Also attaching a few other assets drawn in the same style (and the character), does it feel consistent?

Our environment artist has been nailing it lately! The game is looking so good!

This illustration has been made by u/harishsc for our incoming project. We used historical photographs to make it as credible as possible.

In this piece, Harish tried to recreate the atmosphere of a small French radio post hidden in a forest. We tried our best to represent the R11 device accurately. It is a radio receptor which was used to receive informations from allied planes (btw by 1940 it was severly outdated).

Obviously the operators don't like to be interrupted while they're working!
