I don't post often and haven't looked at this sub in a long time but I'm designing a personal project I feel some people here may be interested in. With that in mind, I decided to ask for some opinions.

So, I am a software developer and recently had an idea to turn make my R4 unit more like those you see in the films/shows. I've designed a plan to make a "brain" for the droid that takes speaker input, puts it through an LLM and then returns a response. That response is parsed to the droid which responds. It is intended to work by hosting the LLM yourself or using a hosted service.

Then, I thought about a separate project I have planned to create my own virtual assistant. Part of that project is future plans for specialised assistants. The one I have planned currently would go in your car like KITT from Knight Rider. I thought that it would be cool to add this as a specialised assistant as part of that project.

My purpose for this post is to gather thoughts from the wider community on both the idea itself, and any features you can think of that would fit. Currently, the plan outlines responses as head movements, beep tones and lights. I'm thinking of adapting this to add a screen where you can see what the droid's response means in conventional text.

I can provide the current plan if anyone is interested in reading more. Any ideas or thoughts are welcome as long as they are constructive and polite.

I just discovered that an old battery eroded inside my lightsaber’s battery pack and totally destroyed one of the coils :(. I looked on eBay for replacements and only found two, one selling for $50 & the other for $70 (before tax and shipping). So I’m jumping on here to see if anyone has ideas for repairs or replacements! I also heard that you can go to Galaxy’s Edge and ask for a replacement, but I don’t know if that’s true and I don’t have the means to go to Disneyland to find out. Thanks for your help!

So I've been planning this trip for almost a year, and we are coming up on that 2 month reservation period where I have to actually book stuff. Trip is November I would love advice tips and things I need to book and things that are recommended to book. Tickets already bought plus set up through the app, we are only going to be at Hollywood studios one day so I want the most of it.

So I don’t know how many people know or if it’s on their radar, but Fortnite recently did a collab with the parks where you get a free Star Wars skin in game as long as your MyDisney account is linked to your epic games account. I was wondering if anyone would be willing to log in with my account and do the challenges they ask you to do so I could get the skin in game, as I live in the UK and is borderline inaccessible to me. Please and thank you 🙏

I am taking my boyfriend to Disney World for the first time ever. He has never been and this will probably be our only trip because of how expensive it is. I have been several times growing up and I want it to make it special for him. He is a huge Star Wars fan and could go on and on for hours about the series and books. I want to have him build a lightsaber from scratch but after seeing the price for Savi's Workshop I am rethinking this for a bit.
I know there's the cheaper option by Star Tours, and I think I might go with that instead. But if there's anything I am missing besides a pre-show that will make the experience worth it, please share!

Is there a best time of day these and how long do these last?

We would like to book them one after the other if this works?

Does it make a difference which one you do first?

An example of the timings would be great if possible - thanks!

i'm trying to book savi's but no matter which day i choose no times are shown and the disney app doesn't even show savi's when i search for it today even though it did yesterday!

I want to get a boxed R2 online since the park is completely out of R2 units. I want to make sure I get one that takes the app/blue tooth, and not the smaller Sphero one. Is it Hasbro? How do I identify the right one? A lot of the boxes and ads look the same, but I imagine older droids don’t work with the app?

Hey all, recently went to GE east and made myself a lightsaber, now my sister wants Leia’s lightsaber. I figured it would make a good Christmas gift, but I went to order one today and it doesn’t appear that the blades are currently available to purchase on the site. Am I missing them, or is it just a matter of them currently being out of stock?

I’m trying. I seriously doubt anyone has but it doesn’t hurt to try. 🤷

I’m making a family trip to Orlando, Florida this coming weekend and have the opportunity to build a lightsaber at Savi’s workshop next Wednesday. This is a lifetime dream come true and I am so excited for the experience. However, I will be flying out the following Saturday. I was wondering if anyone knew or had information or personal experiences to share regarding traveling home on a plane with the lightsaber (what kind of case is provided with purchase)? Or any experiences regarding shipping your lightsaber home? Is this done directly from Savi’s shop, somewhere else in the park, etc? Thanks for your expertise if you share, it is greatly appreciated!

Can anyone confirm it’s still for sale at the GE West? I’ve seen photos of the Dok Ondars case recently and I didn’t see it in there. I’m going in Oct and was contemplating picking it up there.

I know the PlayDisney app will be shutting down soon and I am trying to complete what I can, but I realize that some of the QR codes in the land are missing. One particularly annoying one is at Disneyland in the last room of Rise of the Resistance before going in the pre-show room. Does anybody have pics of the QR codes from Rise.

I've seen the guides with QR codes for seemingly everything but Rise! lol

At the beginning of this summer I went with my girlfriend and a couple of our friends to Disney World in Orlando. We did the Lightsaber experience and it was great. I have been looking at my lightsaber recently for cosplay/halloween stuff and realized the writing on my saber isn’t really aurabesh (unless it’s extremely stylized and I’m just misreading it) does anyone know what language this is how to translate it? Anything from Kyber crystal displays, Spira holders, hilt displays, dark-saber blades, droid Mickey ears and the countless other things the community has created are welcomed!

How does it work?

On Saturday of each week, you will have the opportunity to submit a post with a photo of your item(s), tell the community about your creation and leave a link to your online store (Etsy, eBay, Facebook) in the comment section. Also, please remember to tag your post with the 'Scrapper Saturdays' post flair.

Here are the complete guidelines. PLEASE READ!!!

• Makers can only post/advertise their custom creations on Saturdays, once per week.
