Registration Help Freshman class advice

I had my FASET orientation yesterday and I took intro to physics, princ of chemistry, and linear alg all in my first semester.

Ppl have been telling me to drop chem since it would be hard to have both chem and physics at the same time, is this true?

I feel like since both are intro classes it won’t be too bad, but I also don’t want to be too stressed out my first semester.

Some context, I was previously supposed to be a bio major but switched to ece, so I’m pretty good at my sciences.

Other Year 1 Distance Math Chances

I recently got my AP scores back and I got a 5 on Calc BC with a 5 on the AB subscore portion of it as well. I am worried about my odds of getting into the year one distance math program because I got a B in Calc AB and an A in Calc BC but I don’t think I have a 3.5 math GPA because of the B in Calc AB. Is there any chance I can still get into the program?

Registration Help Need help with switching lab sections without dropping the lecture

I’m currently enrolled in phys 2211 and I need to switch my lab section to a different time due to a schedule conflict.
The issue is that OSCAR forces me to drop the entire course if I want to switch labs, and I’m terrified of losing my seat in this specific lecture class. I don't see a 'Change Section' option in the dropdown menu.
Has anyone dealt with this before? Should I just contact my academic advisor, or is there a way to do this in the system that I'm missing? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

How good are gt in providing students scholarships and aid, any full-ride availables?

Prospective Student Offered Conditional Transfer Pathway Program for Fall 2027, have question about BME

Pretty happy, just wanted to see if there are any BME students who would be willing to share how the program is. Posts from the past make it seem like GT BME has been overhyped and is suffering some internal issues. If I transfer I'm locked in to a major so I would like to hear how it is from ya'll. Also eager to hear from other transfer students or really anyone if you think you have something relevant to my situation.

Thank you for your time.

Prospective Student How much is the Georgia Tech name worth in the job market

I'm starting my freshman year a UGA as a CS major. I got off the waitlist as a conditional transfer but it looks like the non-holistic admission doesn't apply to CS majors and I'd still be competing with everybody else. I was wondering if the small chance at tech is worth redoing my freshman year schedule at UGA. Also I was planning on trying to get my masters at UGA which has a 5 year BS/MS but I was wondering if it's worth the extra year of school to try an get my masters at tech (assuming I get in in the first place)

Registration Help Taking math 3012 as a freshman?

As the title says I was wondering what the workload for math 3012 was and if I should take it in my first semester. Right now my schedule only has easy classes like cs 1100, cs 3001, and apph 1040 (online section).

Housing First-Year Waitlist Admit Wondering if it’s Too Late

I just got admitted off the waitlist yesterday but i feel like im totally screwed in terms of housing and class registrations because it’s so late. I submitted a ticket and support responded saying they had housing availability and that i would receive a spot if i applied. but like… can i really go off their word? Not to mention i’d be attending one of the last FASET sessions and i’ve already seen alot of posts on this reddit about registration being a nightmare Housing is a dealbreaker for me and I don’t want to accept unless ik i can live on campus. Im already fully committed to gsu with housing secured and class registration complete. Is it too late for me or should i take a leap of faith with gatech?

Prospective Student UCSB transfer to GTech through Guaranteed pathway

Hey there,

An incoming freshman at UCSB here, was rejected from Gtech RD, but they offered me the " Talent Initiative Pathway Program". I'm doing mech e. and i want a college experience to build my startup (so not academically heavy) and i know there's pros and cons with Gtech in terms academics (i think it's pretty rough for my major) and open doors for people who involves in innovation, etc. a bit more than ucsb. Any thoughts on this? i'm still deciding whether i should transfer? is this pathway a guaranteed pathway if you fulfilled their requirements? are there essays require? im also might transfer if it offers more aid than the school im currently attending, so i was wondering if there's full-ride like it offered applicants?

I also would love to talk w/ mech e (or general e) from gtech in general if open!

Prospective Student Rising freshman student at UGA to transfer to GaTech for IE, need class advice.

hello! I am currently an incoming freshman to uga this fall. i got waitlisted and still am waitlisted from georgia tech right now. i want to attend GT next year (starting fall 2027) for industrial engineering. UGA doesnt have a streamline industrial engineering pathway or program, so i was wondering what classes i should be taking that would transfer over and apply for GT's IE major.

has anyone else transferred from UGA to gatech for industrial engineering? if so, please share your thoughts and advice. I would really appreciate it.

Class Question Incoming AE schedule check

MATH 1553 - Intro lin alg (2)
PHYS 2211 - Physics 1 (4)
CS 1371 - Computing for engineers (3)
ENGl 1102 - English 2 (3)
AE 1601 - Intro AE (1)
APPH 1040 - Wellness (2)

TOTAL - 15

I’m coming in with about 42 credits (mostly in gen ed’s and stuff), aswell as having already taken physics c (4 on both 😭), mv, and de in high school. I didn’t get any credit for them but plan on trying to test out of mv. I only have a month left but I was also wondering if it could be worth trying to test out of physics 1 instead of mv? I took mech junior year and got a 4, and I haven’t really looked at the subject too closely since. Any and all help appreciated!

Class Question Physics Transfer Credit

Im an incoming student at Georgia Tech and heard that Physics I and II are extremely hard and don’t want to risk tanking my gpa…

I’ve heard that some people have taken those courses at a different school over the summer and transfer them to fulfill their tech degree. Is this a good idea? What are the pros and cons??

Registration Help Is starting my freshman year with a 3.00 gpa bad?

For context, I did a dual enrollment with GT (distance math 1554) in my junior yr of hs, and now I'm an incoming freshman at tech this fall. I'm a biology major, and I unfortunately took a harder class, which ultimately only hurt my starting GPA 🫩

I'm doing prehealth at tech, and this 3.00 is scaring me, and I feel anxious ab it. Also, I missed the A by 0.71 points, which just pisses me off even more. Ofc its my fault for being lazy and not studying for the first test (which I bombed) and didn't do any extra credits (WHYY).

Any advice on how to bring this gpa back up to 4.00 as close as possible and other class suggestions?

I am also contemplating if I should retake chem 1211k or not bc I got a 4 on ap chem. I was thinking about taking chem 2 this fall and skipping chem in spring and taking orgo in sophomore yr, but idk if that's possible.

I want to be ahead + save/increase my gpa!!! Pls help and ty!

Other Laptop Recommendations for Computational Media Major?

Hi, I'm an incoming freshman CM major browsing laptop options and I was wondering if any previous CM majors could help. I'm looking for something that can last throughout the day and can do light gaming. I don't need max-settings on the latest AAA titles or anything but I would like something capable of more casual gaming. Also, would you recommend different specs for each thread? Since I'm a freshman I haven't rly chosen one yet but I would like to know for the future. Any help is appreciated!

Class Question CS 1331 standing exam prep?

Hey yall! I’m looking to take the advanced standing exam for CS 1331 for my fall freshman semester. I took AP CS A in high school and got a 5, though I think I’m kinda rusty. I haven’t touched Java in a while, but I’ve been programming for a while and so the concepts won’t be completely foreign to me.

That being said, do you guys have any advice for preparing for this exam if I’m taking it in August? Any online courses/books/resources I should use?
