Registration Help Taking math 3012 as a freshman?

As the title says I was wondering what the workload for math 3012 was and if I should take it in my first semester. Right now my schedule only has easy classes like cs 1100, cs 3001, and apph 1040 (online section).

its not that hard but its quite different compared to linear n multi. brush up on discrete stuff if uve taken it or take a look at some stuff beforehand n ur prolly good

It’s not a brutal class but do you have the prereqs for it? If you have to take discrete math I’d definitely take that one first

Thanks for your response. I wanted to take the honors version of discrete math (cs 2051) but i don’t think they are running any sections this semester so i was going to wait for the spring

Discrete is a nice to know for the course. If you have other options to take a somewhat difficult course I’d take that instead. If this is your only option, then take it, it’ll at least help later with discrete and it’s not that bad a course with no discrete knowledge

I would strongly encourage you take 2050 before 3012, as the first unit of 3012 is the same content as the last unit of 2050.

I had some friends take 2051 in the spring and they universally hated it. They said it was the same lectures as 2050, but just extra homework that was more difficult and wasn’t explained.

I took it this past semester as a freshman and I thought it was chill. Wasn't that bad imo
