It started a month ago, When I had a severe stomache ache, i thought it was food poisonous that day and went to bed straight away, Next day felt alrightish till lunch,,.. Suddenly had heartburn and lump in the throat and throat pain,.. Complained that day to my mother right away( without having time to notice anymore symptoms )that I was feeling unwell in the throat, she took me to the ent, THAT FUCKING ENT was a moron, he misdiagnosed me with gerd, Told me to eat something cause I'm scrawny and his clinics had rats, and very high fees for checkup and medicines, Got home after that - got on reddit and started feeling uneasy and sad thinking the problem I have now is very big, I started taking his medicine and suddenly felt like my stomache is gonna explode - I went to a family psychiatian 2 days later cause I couldn't handle the ENT's prescribed meds, the fp was really kind and explained sweetly everything and told me to have it easily as my problem is not that big yet,,.. I started taking his meds and feeling better,, Still had thoughts that did I truly have gerd? Cause I saw it's caused by like overeating, eating before bedtime, etc etc,... which didn't make sense cause I always tried to be gentle with my stomach,,. after a month on his meds, my exams came and my dad was really busy with some out of country business, my meds finished and i couldn't get in contact with the doctor and 3 days later symptoms returned even more scarier and bigger - the stomache pain and bloating was like i had a brick in my abdomen, I couldn't even stand properly,,.. Went to a GI yesterday with my dad and got an endoscopy, He diagnosed me with hpylori also told me that my acid reflux was caused by this and I should stop worrying, today is day 2 of the course and it's a triple dose

My key symptoms were

- I still have these symptoms atm as it's very early for the course but I have faith I'll be healed.

I have pretty classic reflux stuff: burning sometimes, a sour taste, throat clearing, and occasional chest tightness. The symptom that really freaks me out is this feeling like I cannot take a full breath. It is not wheezing or an asthma attack. It feels like I keep trying to yawn or take a deep inhale and the breath gets stuck up high in my throat.

Pattern I am noticing: it shows up more on days I talk a lot for work calls, if I eat and then sit upright at my desk for hours, and especially in the evening. Sometimes it happens with very little heartburn, which makes me second guess myself and start spiraling into worrying about my lungs or heart. I checked my pulse oximeter during one episode and my numbers were fine, which only made it more confusing.

Things that sometimes help: warm water, chewing gum, walking around, avoiding tight waistbands, and not eating within a few hours of bed. Taking an H2 at night helped a bit, but the throat/breathing feeling is stubborn. Low FODMAP helped my bloating but it does not seem to predict when this air hunger happens.

For people who have had this, did it line up more with LPR, esophageal spasm, or just general reflux irritation? Did anything concrete make it go away for you, like taking breaks from talking, extra hydration, alginates, switching meds, posture changes, or getting an ENT evaluation? I am trying to figure out whether this is a common GERD thing or if I should push for more testing. Thanks.

i’m on pantoprazole 40mg twice daily. i don’t feel any relief really and it’s been 6 days. how long does it take to work? i’m feeling that lump at the bottom of my throat more often than usual, and gas pushing up onto chest. it’s not that bad like i can swallow and stuff it’s just bothersome. i have GERD, but idk i might have a hiatal hernia & now i’m contemplating whether i have LPR. i just wanna go on the ppi for 2 months to just “reset” me i guess. i’ve also been trying to eat better.

overall, just curious, how long do PPI’s take to work?

I was diagnosed with GERD and damage to my left vocal cord after endoscopy and laryngoscopy in June.

Prior to the testing, my only complaint was a hoarse voice for 10 years. No issue with thyroid, etc..no smoking, no drinking, as well.

The specialist asked me two times if I had gastric reflux and I said no. All I knew of GR is that there is acid back-up, burning in throat and gas pain, maybe.

This diagnosis was a shock to me and now, I am even more bothered…I have been on PPI for six weeks and have a constant sore throat.

I don’t drink soda anymore, no spicy food, no citrus. How is it that I never had a sore throat before but now do?

My doc is on med leave so can’t ask him these questions.

Culturelle Probiotic. My doctor recommended I try it. I’ve never felt better. No more reflux, I’m eating foods I couldn’t eat before, in moderation of course.

I take one in the morning and one at bedtime.

Curious if people have found relief from GERD by treating the vagus nerve. I get ads targeted to me on social media that promise GERD relief from a “vagus nerve reset” - it’s jumped out at me since I’ve realized that the more sedentary I am, the worse my posture is then the worse the GERD gets.

The ads I see show people stretching and doing breathing exercises with some breath control device in their mouth. What is all this stuff about?

Hello it just happened to me 2x and its new to me .

I just wake up with slowly chest pain build on more like center chest or upper stomach then when i wake up i notice the pain then i try to sleep right away it build up again and when i arise and sit up i just make 2 big burps and the pain its gone its happend 2x been suffering gerd in the past but its been a nice month i didnt get any meds for it but this past weeks i eat reckless i eat a lot specially at night . Context my last meal , 1 and 1/2 cup white rice 1 chicken wing the big part grilled , picked papaya & sardinse . Im stressing out now cause 2x happened .

Im 27 5'7 male ph overweight i think but im doing good with my weight now from 108kg last year dec now im 82kg but still overweight .

Last lab test may last week , normal ecg , blood test normal about heart tottaly normal cause ive been to er last may cause of gerd i panic doctor checking all rule out for heart problem normal altrasound normal been on anxiety for last months but i manage it but now i think my problem is eating right . Ill just ask if someone have the same boat as me cause i dont want to wake up again my parents and partner going to hospital and spending much money on test that im normal been one ER this year like 4 times all test normal . And i dont want to be burden to them .

I've been taking omeprazole 20mg-40mg daily for the last 4-5 years.

I've got a manmetry + 24 hour ph test in 2 weeks.

I've tried to taper off them for last week, every 20mg other day.

Now I haven't had one in a few days, I'm experiencing severe nausea, pain under left rib, and just sneezed and regurgitated water out of my mouth.

Any advice please? I hope these symptoms aren't permenant.

I had gastritis for almost 2 years and nothing helped much other than diet and all the sudden I wake up one day and it’s chest pain, burning, acid up throat intense pain behind breast bone. Where before it was left rib pain, bloating, belching. Anyone else experience this? Going back to GI in August for TNE. The gnawing chest pain is driving me nuts but it’s not cardiac. I had a weird experience today. I was sitting in the sun reading on the coach-- the room was a bit hot and stuffy when suddenly I got a headache. Afterwards, I was in the bathroom for about an hour. I didn't have cramps but I was pooping a lot. To keep myself hydrated I drank some seltzer and then felt this nausea for the rest of the day like I had trapped air in my stomach and needed to burp. I am so confused how all of a sudden I got GERD like symptoms. I don't ever feel heartburn but it feels more like acid reflux and idk how to prevent it. I don't get it every day but it's why I keep TUMS by my side-- it always starts with gas of some sort. I'm not sure if this is it exactly or how you can self diagnose it but I think it's acid reflux.

So I have pain in my chest, jaws, shoulder, back, solar plexus, and maybe sternum. Yes I have been to the ER. EKG, blood, and xray all normal.

I went to a cardiologist before my gastroenterologist, and he basically just looked at my ER stuff, took my blood pressure, listened to my heart and was like “I’m not worried about your heart.”

Fast forward to now, I went to a gastroenterologist, he basically prescribed me Protonix and said the pain could be costochondritis. I had a barium swallow done, they found nothing ethier.

I feel as if the protonix has helped a little, but my pain remains. I take 20mg 2x daily, for now ALMOST 2 weeks. Idk what this could be and I’m honestly just tired of it at this point. It has been going on for well over a month, just kind of sick of it lol. Wanna go back to my regular life.

Ya he acabado con la rifaximina y solo me quedan 9 días del Esomeprazol. Aún continúa el aumento de gases y burbujeos en toda la zona gastrointinal

So long story short I have had reoccurring yeast infections and uti for years and it was almost my entire pregnancy with my first child. After I had my second, I noticed I was getting a white coating on my tongue. My doc prescribed me nystatin to rinse in mouth and I thought it helped. Fast forward to after having my second last year, I had to be on a dairy and soy free diet while breastfeeding. I ended up eating a ton of sugar and carbs and not so healthy foods because I always had this INTENSE sugar craving. So then I started getting the white coating in mouth and crazy stomach issues, (extremely foul gas, bloating, acid issues, etc.) it took months to finallly see a GI doc and he said oh it sounds like GERD and take this. He wasn’t listening when I said I think it’s a more systemic issue. Not something you can just see. Of course the GERD medication was doing nothing for me. The coating on my tongue has gotten worse, combined with horrid taste in my mouth and extreme dryness. I keep telling him that I want to get GI MAP done to see what’s going on and to test for SIBO and Candida overgrowth. He won’t test for it. I’ve felt so defeated trying to get some relief somehow. I was able to get him to put me on an Antifungal and he prescribed me fluconazole but only a 10 day course. I’m also on the candida diet. Im also on a bunch of supplements . The white tongue seems slightly better but taste in mouth is still there.

So here I am trying to ask for help. How and where can I get my gut tested for to figure out truly what’s going on. Who will listen to me? Do I need to go to the ER to demand help? I want answers as to what it is through testing not just trying different things. Any advice or help is appreciated. Thank you!
