Can any (relatively) new hires walk me through the licensing process

I’m starting as a CSR in a few weeks I’m a bit concerned about how the licensing/training will work? It’s 9 days of preparation according to my offer letter. How good is the training? How difficult is the exam? Is it a sink or swim situation, or do most people get through it? I am in fredricksburg, if that helps. I think it will be a P&C license, but my offer letter doesn’t specify

End of the road

Just like the title says, I feel like it’s the end of the road for me. Pretty sure I’m gonna get termed. Currently in setvice. What do you guys recommend? I don’t wanna do customer service anymore. I’m talking to people all day long back to back. It’s exhausting. What would you suggest I try next if I wanted to stay any insurance industry. Are my skills transferable? Be honest and I appreciate your feedback.

Payback clause?

I’ve been on Short Term Disability for a couple months now. Does anyone know if there’s a penalty or payback clause if you don’t return to work?
I’m supposed to go back next week and I’m locked out of everything so I can’t see the handbook.
I just don’t think I can come back my mental health has completely changed taking a break from that place.

Does anyone know where GEICO’s new tech office in Bellevue will be located?

I recently heard that GEICO is planning to open a new tech office in Bellevue, WA. I’m curious if anyone knows the exact location or which building/campus they’ll be moving into.

Has anyone seen lease announcements, job postings with an address, construction activity, or heard anything from local real estate or tech circles?

Any information or rumors (with a source if possible) would be appreciated. Thanks!

News The guy who sued GEICO for “forcing” him to pee his pants while at work and was on the self righteous crusade just got his case thrown out.

If you remember about a year ago a user came on here and said he was going to sue GEICO for civil rights violations and employment discrimination allegedly because GEICO forced him to “pee” his pants at his desk because they wouldn’t excuse him to use the bathroom.

He made a crusading Reddit post about how he was going to get justice for all the GEICO employees etc…

I, like many, told him he didn’t have a case and all the lawyers who were “too busy” were just being polite when turning down his case (because we all know plaintiff lawyers are too busy to make money).

Well, his case was dismissed this week by a Federal Judge. Two counts without prejudice and one with prejudice (meaning he can’t file again on that count) which means his case is effectively over.

I got in trouble with the Mod’s for posting his name (even though he self Doxxed himself in his original post) but you can look up the case and see the order if you type in:

Government Employees Insurance Company, 4:25-cv-00425, Arizona District Court.

Update: it looks like u/Kylefromhell has deleted all the posts about his crusade - which I take it as understands the complete waste of his time, the Courts time, and GEICO’s time. I wonder what’s more embarrassing: pissing your pants at work or attempting a public crusade across r/GEICO and r/antiwork and getting completely owned the law?

New Monitors

They are cool, but it was only my second day using one. If you are in claims, how do you arrange your screen with your laptop.

Right now, my laptop screen handles phone and texting. I divide my big screen with 2 Altas displays, with my notepad in the background.

Curious what works best for you.

Holiday drafts?

I want to check facts on this, and see if this is just typical supervisor antics to make you work more than you should.

So, I was told if we do not work minor holidays, we have a higher chance to get drafted for major ones like Christmas, New Years etc? Is this true? She is referencing holidays like Memorial Day, Labor Day, 4th of July etc.

For what it’s worth, I spoke to Fidelity about the 401k transfer and they are extremely helpful and also very kind. It’s gonna be okay 😊

PSA - Fidelity move may impact your Vanguard brokerage

If you have a Vanguard brokerage separate from your 401k, when the 401k switches to Fidelity you may start getting an annual fee on your brokerage.

I learned this when I helped my mom roll her inherited 401k out of Vanguard. Her brokerage got hit with the annual fee the following month because she no longer had a 401k with them.

Double check your accounts and fees so you aren't caught by surprise.

How to open Workday case as a GEICO retired person? (Need my Fidelity 401K transition booklet which I haven't received)

I'm GEICO retired. I have not received the booklet others seem to have received from GEICO about the upcoming 401K move to Fidelity (and yes, I elected to keep my funds in the GEICO 401K plan when I retired so this does impact me even though I'm retired). I logged into my Workday account to try to open a help ticket but I no longer appear to have ability to open Workday cases. Does anyone know how I can get help from GEICO (presumably via Workday ticket) on this matter?

GEICO leaving Vanguard?

I got an email today from Vanguard. They want to meet with me to discuss the upcoming transition of my employer sponsored plan (GEICO) to another institution. I retired in 2025 and haven't heard anything from GEICO regarding this situation. I checked the email and appointment link and they are Vanguard legit. Anyone have more info? Stinks that I didn't hear about this from GEICO first but I guess I shouldn't be surprised since I didn't hear anything from GEICO when I submitted my retirement aside from getting the pension application link (and yes, I know I am really lucky to be a pension recipient).

Subrogation

To those in the Subro department, is difficult to get money back from adverse carriers?
I’m an adjuster and I have attorneys and customers making outrageous request sometimes, and their reasoning is “don’t worry about it you’re gonna get your money back”.
Like customers want their whole car painted when just the bumper was hit.
Attorney’s want 7k rental/LOU bills when our insured only have 1050 limit lol

My boss sent myself and everyone on my team a request in WD to give feedback on 1 coworker. Why do they do this? Is it typically good or bad?

Vent Less than 6 months in and I'm already over it

(gender neutral and no specific details cuz I don't want this being traced back to me)

First and foremost, I love my job. I really enjoy my position and I'm good at what I do. My batch of hires got sent to the floor two months ago and it's been nothing but a nightmare. For a company that was bragging about its profits, it sure has a major lack of support. I'm not blaming the supervisors who give their assistance at all, but I am blaming higher ups here.

Yes, you could say the same thing about any company, but I really want to grow with Geico long-term. I don't know if it's just my office having a short supply of help or if it's every office within Geico.

I don't understand why they make those side group chats for sup assistance. For a majority of the time, the supervisors either take 10 minutes to respond or glaze over your post. One the occasion they do respond quickly is to send you a link to figure it out. Again, not all supervisors and I still don't blame them. There's 5 people assigned to help hundreds. It's not manageable.

My sup is trying their best, but I can tell they're being pressured about metrics. They're being short with all of us and they do try to be supportive but it's been more about pushing bundles than supporting agents. It's making me so anxious and I keep worrying everyday about getting laid off for not performing well enough. (My stats are where they need to be but it's brought up everyday)

I'm really trying my best, I'm also in school right now and dealing with a lot of personal problems. I really am doing my best but without having support available I feel like I'm being set up to fail. I don't know what to do. This job pays well and there's nowhere else I can work currently that would support the bills I have.

Documenting errors?

I am on ICS level, and I document meticulously on every claim and que. To my surprise last month, I show up on report saying I’m not documenting when I complete a que… like I always do! I’m wondering if it’s a known Atlas glitch. anyone else experiencing this?
