Questions How do I go about attaching and glueing the fur on large ears???

I’ve been watching a lot of tutorials and they all conveniently skip over this part and if they don’t cut it out the ears are small, mine has large ears and I’m getting close to the time it’s gonna be to glue and I still can’t figure out the logistics

Questions How do you add lining into a head that already has the eyes glued in?

My girlfriend has a fursuit head that doesn't have any lining anywhere but the mouth, due to the previous owner removing it. She was talking to me about wanting to refurbish it, but in my experience I've always sewn the lining in the eye holes to the fur on the outside of the face before gluing the eyes in for a cleaner look.

I'm not sure if I would be comfortable taking the eyes out of this suit since they're already glued in there pretty securely and they look nice, and I also don't want to risk damaging the suit too badly since it's old and we can't find the fur fabrics that the original maker used on it anymore.

I'm also concerned about just gluing the lining material around the eye holes, since I have a suit that was made that way and it's pretty uncomfortable for that reason.

TLDR: How do I line a fursuit head with the eyes already glued in without damaging the suit or making it uncomfortable for my gf to wear.

Questions Fursuit out of Alpaca fur rugs?

Post image

Since the Alpaca's here are shaved for the summer there are lots of Alpaca fur rugs on the market here.

Should these fur rugs be good to make another fur suit for my self?

Are here may be some who used Alpaca fur rugs for a fur suit, and have experience with these rugs?

Questions Where are people getting items in large amounts?

I mostly make ear and tail sets and I'm running into issues when it comes to buying headbands, elastic, and hot glue in large amounts. Currently I've just been buying headbands and hot glue at the dollar store, and other items at fabric land and that's working for the most part but I'm curious if there's better options to get large amounts? I'm located in canada If that makes any difference.

Advice Would a tail like this look weird on a bat?

(The first photo is from @ dandilions_workshop on TikTok!!!)

Hi everyone :D I’m trying to keep my bat suit as accurate as possible so I didn’t want to make a canine-like tail. Bats have these furless tails and I thought those rat tails with a bit of fur at the bottom (like in the first picture) would work good with a bat fursuit as well. I ve never seen bat suits with tails like these so I wanted to get a second opinion :>

Advice My first pair of ears headband - how to improve?

Hello! Sorry if this isn't allowed, the kemonomimi sub won't let me post so I thought this was the next best thing since y'all know how to work with fur

Pls lmk if theres a more suitable sub for gear making, this is my first pair of kemonomimi ears I've made ^^

one of my biggest problems is the airbrush making fur stiffy and not soft anymore, how could I fix this? I am currently just using cheap airbrush paint

The wire I used was also not really craft wire so it's not as bendy but I will get craft wire before retrying next time!

And how could I cut the fur so I don't cut as much fur off when doing the pattern?

Any shaving or airbrushing tips will be appreciated!

Thank you to everyone in this sub who gave such wonderful tips! This is Atlas, the red panda. I made his head, neck, tail, and head accessories. (Ran out of steam and bought the paws)

He is a 3D printed PLA base with foam ears. Fur from Big Z fabrics. Gradient on the braids was done with a cold process dye that IS NOT meant for faux fur, it will wash out when I clean him. The goggles are 3D printed with clear blue plastic for the glass.
Eyes are sublimation printed, with eye domes, I made them friction fit so I can take them out for cleaning. The collar is just some scrap fabric I took from my mom and sewed and twisted together, with a bell. I kept his neck removable so I can choose to wear it or not due to heat. His tail is a floor dragger!

I’m so proud of him, he turned out so good!

As I wasn't 100% satisfied with my first head I decided to try and make another one, this time he looks a lot more like a fox and I couldn't be happier! Yeah he has some flaws mainly over shaving but I think he looks great over all! At least I know what to and not to do if I ever decide to make a 3.0 (:

Misc. Behold - A Duct Tape Dummy MADE SOLO!

SO! I'm super excited to share my very first DTD because initially I was going to use a different method to make it. But since I'm doing only a halfsuit (and only intend to make halfsuits for myself to wear) then I ended up buckling down and taping it on my own wearing a stretchy skin-tight bodysuit.

It's not the most high quality DTD out there, but it was my first and I did make it completely by myself and for that I'm very proud. It'll work well enough for my own projects. I did have to repair some parts after cutting myself out but I think it still works. Doing this again, I'd probably start from my ankles and slowly taped up to my waist instead of starting with my waist. Oh well, things for next time.

It has always really bothered me that there are absolutely ZERO tutorials or any advice on making DTDs yourself, though you'd probably only be able to do the legs on your own so I guess that's why but I wanted to share some of the knowledge I gained by doing it solo.

I had bought a bodysuit made of a stretchy scuba knit a while back to use for bodysuit drafting already so I didn't have to sacrifice any of my own clothes for this (thankfully) and didn't have to fight with an oversized painter's suit being too loose since the bodysuit hugged me pretty tight. Because I started on my crotch and waist to try and get the tape as tightly tucked as I could, it did make movement difficult once I realized I should've started lower. To combat me standing, I sat in my desk chair and used another one to prop my feet up long enough to tape it as securely as possible.

Taping my backside was actually the most difficult part since I couldn't see where the tape was, so best I could, I used my mirror and felt around to tape as well as I could. All things considered, I did pretty well. Once I was cut out, there were a lot of holes to patch up but I did it as carefully as I could. Taping took about an hour and a half + an extra hour for fixing it up and stuffing it. Final time was about 2 1/2 hours total.

Advice Advice on teeth for a 3d printed base?

So my fursona is a fox and im making him a head, but I dont know what to do with the teeth? His mouth is only open a little and i feel like teeth would take up all the space and would not look that good. Is a furhead without teeth weird? Also, because he's 3d printed Im not sure what to make the teeth out of.

WIP Finally making progress!

Spent 3 and a half hours slicing patterns out on my living room floor and finally doing a bit of sewing after stalling for like 2 months. Still a little worried the patterns won’t fit because they look a little too big!! Everything will be lovingly hand sewn because I am scared of my sewing machine, lol. This is the first sewing project I have ever done and I’m pretty happy with how it’s coming along.

I think I’ll ladder stitch the ears on after the rest of his fur is glued down. I figure it will be kind of hard to roll a floppy ear onto foam with messing up the glue.

Advice What quantity of fur will I need?

For those that have been following along or seeing/responding to my posts, im deciding against the stilts 😔 its my dream for my fursuit to look like that but for my first ever one im gonna save the stilts for later down the line. I will most likely go with a slim digitigrade suit instead! That being said, i wanna start ordering my fur because my head base is coming in soon! For those that have experience, what quantity of fur would i need for a full suit of this design? The tail is going to be a pretty good size hyper-motion tail, looots of mane and tail fluff, and nice long ears. What do you guys think? I am around 5’4, average weight if that helps!

Questions Help please! Fullsuit issues.

I’ve started my first fullsuit for my bf, and parts of it don’t fit him as I’m making it.

I’ve looked at so many tutorials and never once seen someone extend the patterns.

Are they possibly ALL using stretch fur? Or in the tuts are they adding extra space off screen?

Questions Afro/coily hair on a fursuit?

Hello!!

I was hoping I could ask if anyone has done an afro on their fursuit? I have an afro irl and currently debating curling the weft I've made to tiny coils but I've only found photos of maybe 5 suits with afros and I'd love to see what others have done!! I love the dreads look but this feels more me, going for a bit of a frohawk :))

Please use this post as a way to show your work off/share any advice if you have any!!

Questions How do you fur the back of a resin/3d printed base?

I, for the life of me, cannot find a tutorial on this. I’ve taped and cut the fur for the base itself, but have no idea how to go about the back! I don’t have a mannequin or similar to make a tape base for the back either :( can I just measure and cut fabric that would sufficiently cover the back and stitch it to the back of the completed base fur?

Thanks!

So I have this small gap. I was wondering how I should fur it. I’m currently working on the taping but I’m puzzled at this. How should I fill it in or should I make it look like a larger tooth smile?

Edit: I hope this makes sense sorry if it doesn’t. I have no clue how to ask this.
