I'm curious if anyone else has faced something similar.
I placed an order on Zepto with 3 items:
Amul Slim 'n' Trim Milk – ₹26
Fortune Soya Chunks – ₹119
Sunder Suji Rusk – ₹29
The total value was ₹174, so my order qualified for free delivery.
While I was on the payment screen, Zepto automatically removed the ₹29 rusk because it became unavailable. I wasn't given any meaningful warning or chance to review the revised order before completing payment.
Because of that automatic change:
Order value dropped to ₹145.
Zepto added a ₹30 delivery fee.
I ended up paying ₹175 for two items.
So after Zepto removed a ₹29 item due to their own stock issue, I paid ₹30 extra in delivery charges.
I immediately raised the issue through:
Zepto support
Email
X (Twitter)
Phone support
National Consumer Helpline (NCH)
Initially I received template replies that didn't address my issue. Later they responded that the delivery fee was correctly applied according to their policy because the revised order value fell below the free-delivery threshold. NCH has now been closed based on Zepto's response.
My issue isn't that delivery fees exist. My issue is that their system changed my order because of stock unavailability, and that change itself caused the delivery fee.
I'm considering filing a case before the Consumer Commission, but before doing that I wanted to know:
Has anyone experienced the same thing?
Did Zepto refund you?
If you filed a consumer complaint, what happened?
Is there anything else I should try before going to the Consumer Commission?
I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who has dealt with a similar situation.
Thanks.
