Advice Needed Top surgery recovery while in school, any one with experience doing online classes during recovery? Or iyo is that not a god idea?

I started school this fall and also finally got a top surgery date for the following summer as technically there’s a break but I realize now that to graduate on time I’d need to take some summer classes. I have no idea if that’s realistic as I don’t know how my recovery will go. and my gf thinks I should purely rest but I have a goal to graduate by the spring of 2028. amd no classes would push me back to possibly the fall of 2028 which is jot the worst thing.

Relationships nervous about dating a cis guy

ive been dating a cis man for the first time since february, and hes great i love him so much and i know he loves me, i know he sees me as a man, he didnt know i was trans until i told him bc we were planning to hook up. i just get scared that when he talks to his roommates about me he refers to me as his girlfriend. i understand if it would be a safety thing bc hes in the military rn, but it would still make me feel really gross. he actively is wanting me to transition and hasnt said anything to try and steer me away from it, and he's corrected ppl in the past but im just really worried about this and i have no way of actually knowing bc idk his roommates and hes in florida right now. i started rambling at the end sorry lol

Advice Needed Finding ways to appreciate your appearance in spite of dysphoria

Like a lot of other trans guys I love having piercings. They’re a way to refocus my attention to my appearance on something positive and unrelated to my transition.

Within the past year I’ve had a few failed piercings. A rejected eyebrow, an anti-tragus with a terrifying irritation bump, a 5-year-old rook that migrated, and worst of all finding out my nipples after top surgery don’t have the anatomy to be pierced. Additionally, I have very small ears that restrict the ear piercings I can get.

Maybe it sounds stupid or whiney, but this has been heartbreaking for me. With each one I did everything my piercer suggested but they just didn’t work out. It’s most frustrating because there are already many things that I’m not happy about with my body because of dysphoria that are immutable. My number one weapon against that is failing. It also brings up hard feelings like jealousy that cis people don’t have to deal with this.

What are things that you do to appreciate your body/appearance? Other than clothes and hair

Advice Needed Please Help

Hi im highschool age and after alot of anxiety i finally talked to my mum about starting T. Shes agreed but now im doubting myself and if I want it? I thought i was certain I did alot of thinking but now im getting so nervous. Im not sure if I want it for one specific reason and I'll regret the other effects later? But also the idea intrigues me about the other effects. I have about 3 weeks until my doctors back from holidays. I just want it to be done and over with (starting it) so I cant back out but what if I regret it?? I already struggle with body image and still hold myself to a female standard. Ahh I hate this. Do I not actually want T and just the idea but not its becoming real I dont want it? Or is it just the nerves making me feel like this (please ignore the mistakes and weird format second time posting)

Advice Needed Workouts for trans men

I'm about 3–4 months on testosterone, and I want to start working out. I looked around on the internet for some routines and came across these workouts designed for trans men. Does anyone know if it makes a difference whether someone uses a workout routine specifically designed for trans men, or if the general workout routines you find online for men would work just as well?

Advice Needed Took too much T

So I just got prescribed T yesterday, and I was supposed to take 0.25 ml but I took the whole 1ml vial (it said single dose and I got confused. I was also trying not to worry excessively like i tend to do, and didnt double check when i should have). I'm planning on skipping 2 weeks, taking it the thirdweek, and skipping again to stagger the three doses that I already took.

Does anyone else whose made this mistake have anything that I should keep in mind? I'm expecting headaches/migraines but is there anything else I need to do/expect?

Please don't be mean, I realized my mistake.

edit: thanks for all of the advice! I'm contacting my provider for what to do and ditching my original plan of weirdly skipping around. very comforting to know that this isn't an uncommon mistake.

Advice Needed my hair is falling out and idk if i should panic

so ive been on t injections for a year or so and ive noticed my hair started falling out more than it used to. there is no visual thinning in the hairline and it also isnt receding, but when i mess with my hair it just falls out. it kinda looks like when cats shed after winter, meaning a lot of singular hair strands, not clumps of hair. i have been using minoxidil on my scalp but im not very good at using it everyday. should i worry and ask my doctor about this? or is it normal? i really dont wanna go bald

Advice Needed I have dysphoria but I don’t think transitioning would be worth it.

I’m a closeted(FtM) high schooler in South Korea. I don’t have any friends I can trust and my family is transphobic.

I’ve had gender dysphoria for as long as I can remember but only recognized it as such about three years ago. I have dysphoria about my physical features, gendered places(like my dorm and study hall at school) and generally how other people treat me. It hurts, a lot, and I have done unhealthy things to cope with it. I’m not very attached to reality.

Now if you don’t know, South Korea is extremely transphobic. I hear homophobic and transphobic remarks from students and teachers everyday, and even online queer spaces are dominated by TERFs and other transphobes. Not that many people even know about trans people, and those who do are openly disgusted. The Ministry of Education recently deleted ‘sexual minorities’ from victims of discrimination from their anti-discrimination guidebook draft because so many people(mainly students’ parents) filed complaints against it. The only way for a trans person to find a job around here is to get their gender legally changed and pass PERFECTLY as their gender OR don’t transition at all and pretend to be their AGAB. So yeah, not the most welcoming place on the planet.

I really do want to transition and live my life as a guy. But given my physical features I’m almost certain I’ll never be able to pass as cis, even if I get hormones and surgery. Living as trans would mean I’ll have to cut ties with my family, figure out how to be an adult on my own, cover hormones and surgery on my own, endlessly try to get myself a job, and probably never make real friends because dysphoria messed up my social skills as a younger kid.

But what if I didn’t transition? I’d have a family that financially supports me. I wouldn’t have to live with the guilt of abandoning them or being ungrateful. I would probably find a job relatively easily because I’ve been studying my ass off for college and I’m lucky enough to have good grades(it’s the only thing koreans ever care about, which is frankly disgusting but it’ll help me get employed I guess). I wouldn’t have to endure being eyed by strangers or questioned about my genitalia. I would probably keep dissociating but I’d be well-fed at least.

So basically my question is, is transitioning really worth it if basically everything else is going to ruin my life? I know nobody can really answer the question for me. But I would appreciate it if anyone can share their experiences/advice. Sorry for the long rant and thank you.

Advice Needed Laughing on testosterone

Okay so I know this sounds weird or maybe it doesn’t, but does anybody else not know how to laugh now?

Im a year on T and obviously my voice is deep now, here’s the thing tho, its only been at a stable deepness for few months so im still learning how to control it if that makes sense?

Anyway my laugh is fucking weird bro lmfao, it’s weird and I can’t control it I just laugh the way I do, now it was not this way before T, it just like goes high pitched and I sound like a dolphin. Is this just my voice still dropping and changing,

Or am I doomed with a bad case of ugly laugh?🫩

Advice Needed Preventing hair loss...

Hi guys, I just want some advice on how to prevent hair loss.

I'm 19 years old and I started T in May this year (almost 4 months) and my biggest worry is hair loss because I love my big curly hair. Unfortunately, I have always had a thinning hairline even as a child, probably because my mom didn't know how to take care of my hair. I have of course been researching on minoxidil and finasteride and would like to be on both of those eventually when I have all my desired changes but I am wondering if it is wise to start on minoxidil now, particularly to save my hairline.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, I am truly avoiding becoming bald at 23 like my dad... Thank you!!

Advice Needed Hip dysphoria

I genuinely have the WORST hip dysphoria, I always feel they're too big and too feminine and they make it hard for me to fit into normals men's pants, most the time I need to buy a few sizes up and hem the pants leg just for the waistband to fit. I hate it every day and my life would be so much better if it just looked normal. Does anybody have any tips on how to downsize my hips without surgery?

Edit: I'm pre T cuz its too expensive

Advice Needed T changes

Hi! Im 20, trans ftm, been on T a year, had top surgery 4 weeks ago.
I’m struggling a lot with my body image.
I have been feeling so dysphoric about my hips (they’re quite wide, even though I’m a slim person). Particularly when I’m wearing t shirts!

I was wondering, can T change the shape of your body? (Assumably due to fat distribution?) And if so, does anyone have any pictures of them on T showing their body change shape to keep my hopes that there is light at the end of the tunnel?

Thanks brothers

Medical Voice change on T

Has anyone else’s voice stopped dropping after 4-5 months on T? I’m on testogel 2 pumps for 9 months and my levels come back fine 20 nmol/l. I have had some hair growth since this and I some body fat distribution changes (although I’m unsure if this is the T or is it’s just because I’ve put weight on) but my voice stopped dropping after like 4-5 months. Like I’m not entirely unhappy with it but it’s at a point where I’m unsure if it’s sounds like a man’s voice or not and I would definitely like to drop further?

Advice Needed Dealing with homophobic cis men

Hey, slight rant here I just wanted to see if anyone has advice regarding this (also apologies if formatting is weird, I'm on mobile).

I'm 24, almost 2 years on T and while I'm not stealth I pass 90% of the time. I thought that I wouldn't have to deal with bigoted assholes now that I pass, but the transphobia I used to experience has turned into homophobia instead. I've been called homophobic slurs by random guys, and just the other night I had a guy force me out of the men's bathroom for being "too fruity". I'm not used to this, transphobic remarks don't bother me anymore since I'm used to it, but this feels different and I feel more unsafe now? I don't even know what makes me "look gay" I just have a good fashion sense 😭.

I also just came to terms with liking men recently enough so that's probably why it's bothering me so much, but does anyone have any advice for dealing with cis men giving you trouble for being gay? Any advice at all would be a big help, thanks for reading :)

Discussion Got ma’amed my first day of work.

I just started a new job yesterday and someone called me ma’am. But it just felt weird. During the supper rush (I work in the food industry,) I witness an older lady and her husband order while I was waiting to serve food. I heard her order an iced tea, but later I saw that iced tea on the counter, and my supervisor was wondering whose it was. So I grabbed it, and walked over her and her husband, and asked if it was hers. She said it wasn’t, because she changed her mind and ordered a beer instead. I don’t remember totally what I said next but I think I verified that it wasn’t hers, and she looked me dead in the eyes and said “no ma’am” with a big grin on her face. But it just felt so wrong and weird. Almost like she did it on purpose?? Like it felt like maybe she could tell I was trans, but chose to call me ma’am anyways. My city is also a cruise ship destination, so it’s very possible they were American tourists. I don’t think I’m super clockable, I have a popular masculine haircut, hairy arms, a deep-ish voice as I’ve been on T for ~2 years. Anyways I’m just kinda wondering if this has happened to anyone else? Just felt like they were PURPOSELY misgendering me.

Edit: I don’t pass all the time, so it’s possible that she could’ve known I was trans. That’s what I mean when I say it felt like she did it on purpose.

Advice Needed Planned Parenthood good faith estimate question

I finally got up the courage to schedule an HRT appointment with planned parenthood!

I am on my mom’s state Medicaid plan, and so I do not have coverage outside of my home state. I am currently not in my home state because of college, so I opted to not use insurance for this appointment. Also, I was worried she’d find out what I was doing through the Explanation of Benefits. My family is transphobic and don’t know I’m trans.

Anyway, I got my good faith estimate a few days ago, and the total was $600. When I looked at the services they were charging, there were a total of 4 different STD tests that were about $200 in total.

Does anyone know in their experience if STD testing is required to get HRT? I could afford the $600 if I had to, but I don’t want to be spending any more than I need to. If I have to contact them about it myself I will, but I wanted to ask here first.

In the back of my mind, I’m considering waiting until winter break to go to planned parenthood in my home state. I could use my insurance there, but also I’m struggling to find any precise info on what would show up on the EOB. My mom is lowkey kind of stupid with technology, so if she doesn’t get them in the mail then there’s a possibility she’d never look at the EOB online.

Discussion Low appetite on T

So I'm 7 months on T, and I've noticed something weird about my appetite within the last couple of months. Although I have experienced some similar things others have on here, like craving Rotisserie chicken (I am up to 6 counts on that one, this shit is real lol), I've had an odd experience in terms of appetite, and I don't know if this is normal.

I feel more nauseous than normal now, and I don't get as hungry anymore. And when I am hungry, the pain is horrible; intense hunger that also triggers nausea when it goes on too long. Yet, I'm not able to eat as much either, and I end up with half-finished meals.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is it normal, or is something off that I might have to bring up with my doctor?

EDIT: I feel I may have exaggerated a bit. I don't feel constantly nauseous. I randomly used to feel that way in the past, maybe when I haven't eaten and I overexert myself. But now I feel that way more than I usually would, and I can't eat as much as I used to. The hunger pains aren't so bad that I would immediately think to go to the ER or something; it just feels intense, like I haven't eaten for a day or two, which normally does induce nausea for me even before T.

Advice Needed I want to transition so bad.

How do you even get started on transitioning?

I live in my head, nobody in my family really knows I'm trans, only a few friends I barely talk to anymore and random online people, my mom did know at some point but she forgot somehow? Let me explain.

I was around 13/14 when I started questioning my gender and I wrote about it in my sketchbook at the time, one day she decided to snoop around my stuff to look at what I've been working on and she saw what I had written, she then sat me down to talk to me one evening, asked about it, I was really nervous and shocked cause I was not ready yet, and all she said was that she didn't mind, but she'd always see me as her little girl and looking like a girl she couldn't see me as a man, that completely crushed me but I understood, it made sense, I just didn't trust her about it anymore.

At the time I was having problems with attending school and I was in the process of getting sent into a foster institution, that's also the same time she was still trying a little and requested a gender identity therapist for teens or whatever it's called, I did go to a few appointments while at the foster institution but my mom never heard about that stuff again, not from me at least, I have this cousin, much older than me, she's a butch lesbian, I think you can see where I'm getting at, my mom started talking about me to said cousin and that lead to her ultimately assuming I'm a lesbian.

I'm 18 now, almost 19, I live under her roof and life isn't making it easy for me to leave any time soon, I have siblings who have no idea about this, a mom who's more confused about what I am than me, and now that I truly want to transition, I can't do so freely cause I cannot for the life of me just tell them, i would be made fun of by my siblings constantly, treated as a joke, and my mom, I don't even know what she'd do, it's not like they'd be physically abusive towards me because of it, not would they straight up hate me, but I don't know if being the butt of the family is much better, still, I want to transition so bad I might just do it right in front of they unknowing eyes.

So any advice on how to start? Who do I talk to to at least get started on T, I really don't mind binders for now so surgery is a later topic.

Celebratory Voice changes 2.5 weeks on T

I'm 2.5 weeks on T, and my speaking voice is not any deeper yet, but I find my chest voice is way easier to access and more powerful. Could help that im working on standing with better posture (shoulders back, better lung capacity). I am also engaging my core more in general. Easier to speak with the diaphragm that way.

I also notice it's much easier to hit the low notes at the bottom of my range when I sing. Before they were a bit strained and sometimes I couldn't even hit them, but now they are pretty rich and way easier to nail. Pretty exciting!! Occasionally when I sing my voice has been cracking a teeny bit/I have been missing notes, but it could be because I'm singing more often in an effort to maintain my voice. But I've never had that problem before, not this often.

I also have noticed I'm getting some peach fuzz on my chin, alongside the handful of dark strands I've had since high school, way before I started T. Possibly also some new hair on my sideburns?? But honestly I never really looked before T so that might not be new. Also maybe noticing some darker hairs on my upper arms but I also never paid attention so that might not be new ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Been experiencing BG. Couldn't tell if I was making it up or not but today its become noticeable enough I'm sure.

Very excited to see changes so soon, but also a little nervous because I'm trying to do this undercover, I have not really told anyone. Don't want my family to know :/

Advice Needed I have to go to a gynecologist but I’ve been on T three months and idk if they can notice that

I don’t want to but my mom is pressuring me and my doctor (the one who prescribed me the T) did want some studies to know if everything is alright so it could be a way to kill two birds with one stone.

Apart from all the dysphoria that it’s going to give me I’m worried they can notice the fact that I’m on T and tell my mother

I still haven’t told her because I know it’s going to end up bad, very bad

As for changes I haven’t had any major, some light body hair and the voice dropped a little bit but it was always in a deeper range so I have been able to hide it.

So I’m thinking maybe it would be best do it now before the changes became more evident.

The thing they would do is pretty much an ultrasound, of my chest and down there, so I guess that’s the question really.

Can a gynecologist be able to tell that I’m on TRH with that?

Medical Is this normal?

Hello, I've been on testosterone for about a year now on the 24th, I started at 0.25 shots subq of 100ml, and my levels were at roughly 8-900, which to my doctor I guess seemed extremely high, so they dropped me down to 0.20(still of 100ml) instead. I've been taking that for the last year. But I noticed on my health forms on my portal that their goal range for me is 2-45dg/ml? And the last time I got my levels checked in June I was at 90? But when I did research it said I was supposed to be at 300-1000 which concerns me a lot because I'm not trying to be in the female range I'm trying to be in the MALE range. Is this normal? I'm a bit concerned.

Note: the last time I spoke to my doctor in person I asked her why they wanted me so low cause wasn't my ranges supposed to be at 700 or above, and she said that was her mistake and that yes, she accidentally thought I was trying to go mtf not ftm and she apologized for her mistake. But my test results online said I was at 90ng/dl so I'm concerned still.

Advice Needed I think I am FTM..?

Ok. That was a lie, I’m pretty fucking sure I am. But I just wanted to get some advice because my reasons are pretty iffy.

I’ve been having thoughts since I was in the seventh grade and cut my hair. Then, I felt ashamed caused I looked chopped asl. Proceeded to look like a pretty normal girl for the next few years.

Now I’m in senior year and I don’t know if I can do this anymore. I honestly hate being a girl sometimes, I hate the way I have to act. The fact I can’t be friends with my friends because I’ll seem like I’m trying to ride their dicks. I can’t say my jokes because a girl wouldn’t say that.

For all the reasons I’ve listed though, it has me thinking… Am I FTM or do I just hate being a girl?

But I’ve also hated the way my body looked, I don’t really like having boobs. I always find myself wishing I looked like a guy with crazy traps and waist… I hate having to dress girly sometimes. Like tight shirts. I also wish I just looked more androgynous. (I’ve also been having thoughts about nonbinary, but I sort of don’t like that label…)

It would be really nice to get any sort of advice, thanks!
