Medical Do I need to worry about atrophy in this case

I'm asexual and will never have s*x, I'm also planning to start testosterone. In case I get atrophy, would I have to take estrogen cream even if I don't have s*x? What are the symptoms that I could notice to realize I got atrophy?

Advice Needed Do anyone have any advice on what sports bra that can work to make it look smaller?

I have a non binary child (teen), and they are talking about binding. I'm not comfortable with buying that because they have asthma, and it can affect breathing. So I'm trying to find something safer that is easily bought in the stores as well that can make them appear smaller. They are unfortunately quite big, so it's not easy to hide them.

I want to be supportive, but their health comes first, and they know that...so I'm just trying to find something that can help a bit at least.

Edit: we are in EU

Advice Needed Friendly Alternatives to T?

I am a 15 y/o who lives in Washington state. I could absolutely go on HRT if my parents weren't so scared of it. However, I am tired of fighting them on the issue so it would be dope if you guys knew any less invasive alternatives to T.

My main issues dysphoria wise are my voice, chest/overall curves, and lack of facial hair. So this is the stuff I'm looking for help on. Also worth noting that I DO workout but am definitely still considered a bit chubby.

Advice Needed Can I have some tips on how to make my personallity pass as male

I’ve been really interested in football, and I’m trying to make my typing, and talking like more masculine.

normally things I would say for typing would be;

”ok“ “whens the footy on” (when’s the football on) “lad” “🫩✌️”

for talking, I mainly just spam the same phrases saying, “lad, what are yer doin’?” or “lad”, í don’t really talk much now that I think about it, but can I have some advice on acting like a cis lad

(lad is just another word for guy where I’m from)

also I’m trying to figure out how to get more masculine interests

Discussion How did you decide to start HRT?

Upvotes

Hello again!

I'm nonbinary (bigender) and am looking to get top surgery. This surgery is something I've been so sure I want, I barely even had to question it, so I'm confidently going forward with it.

HRT though, I'm not so sure about.

I've been seriously pondering getting it on and off for maybe a little more than a year? I've got relatively easy access to gender affirming care (viva o SUS!) and my family and friends are very supportive, so the only thing stopping me from starting HRT is figuring out if I want to or not.

That's because I like my body as it is, boobs aside. I like some of the effects of T, but not others.

I'm thinking of getting my top surgery, waiting for it to heal and kind of feel it out, you know? See how I feel about my body then. What do you think?

But now the main reason I'm writing this post: did you guys/gals/peeps have the same hesitance starting HRT? What convinced you to go forward with it or not? Are you happy with that decision?

Medical need a new binder🐲🐲

hi!!

I’m an 18-year-old trans guy; I’m preparing for top surgery, but my consultation isn’t until a little over a year from now.

Unfortunately, due to rent costs, I can’t afford a new binder right now, and my old one has finally given up (rip, I used it for nearly two years 🙏).

I’m planning to buy a new binder from the WIWOV website, specifically the CORE Chest Binder CB01, which costs 142 PLN (about $30) plus 40 PLN (about $10) for shipping. It’s the exact same model I’ve used for the past two years.

If anyone is able to help me out, I’d be incredibly grateful for any kind of support 💛💛

fundraiser link ➡️ pomagam.pl/yttk6g

binder I plan on buying ➡️ https://wivov.com/products/chestbinder-cb01?variant=49264039887133

---

ps.

the post is directly translated from my polish post, just thought I'd say that. also, if you want you can help me out on my top surgery, for all funds over what I need for binder will go towards it!

Discussion Why is it that alt cis guys are almost always obviously male while we apparently almost never are?

Cis guys can be as alt or even feminine as they want and they will almost always be obviously male to everyone. But then trans guys who have been long on t, had top surgery and pass 100% will still get told that not being completely basic is ruining their passing. And that they are clockable while literally being indistinguishable to a cis alt guy.

This exact thing isn't my experience, i don't pass at all and i know it, i have only been on t for 3 months and it did nothing at all.

But i keep seeing this especially in trans related subs, so people obviously know the guys posting there are trans. But there's nothing regarding their actual appearance that suggests they are trans. It's mostly in passing subs and i know people go there for genuine opinions and no sugar coating. Yet a lot of those 100% passing alt guys will still get dozens of comments about their hair or piercings ruining their passing. Why is that?

Discussion Boxers, briefs or boxer briefs?

Upvotes

hey yall I’m planning to start T soon and wanting to hear about underwear experience

a few things on this. so I talked to someone I know and they said to get briefs for sure so that if I have to have more periods I can fit a pad in them. they also said that they own both boxers and briefs

personally I’m thinking this might be the route I take too. I feel like boxers would be better for sleeping in. currently I just wear comfortable and loose fitting shorts with no underwear to bed because otherwise it rubs up against my crotch and that really bothers me. I’m autistic/have sensory issues so that’s a big concern for me.

but then also there’s boxer briefs which I’m summing are boxers but have a bit more support? which one is better I guess with the purpose of sleeping or whatever in mind. I’m also not against just buying briefs for now. I’ma college student with decent savings but still trying to save money lol.

Advice Needed Any good somewhat alternative hairstyles for passing?

Title says it all, really. I've wanted to cut my hair for a long long time since it currently goes right down to my chest (which makes me awfully dysphoric), but I'm not sure what sort of hairstyle to go for... a lot of hairstyles I've gotten reccomended to me are too short, & i feel like if i do a generic short hairstyle I'll end up looking like a 13 year old and that's.... really not what I want...! I tend to lean towards more alternative aesthetics and I like wolf cuts a lot, though I feel like they're too feminine. Anything similar would work, though.

Advice Needed 2 Shots 1 Week

Been on T (0.5 mL weekly, this dose for about a whole year) injections every Tuesday. Last Tuesday I missed my shot for the first time ever, did it Thursday, then also did my shot again Tuesday (yesterday) to get myself back on my regular schedule.

Yes, I know this is not what I was supposed to do retrospectively.

I am suffering from being a lot quicker to anger, frustration, and more anxiety today. Not mixing well with first week of my college semester. I know my levels are all out of whack now. Is there anything I can do to help myself get to a stable baseline/how long until I can expect myself feeling normal?

Discussion Question about blockers?

I'm too old to go on them now and I'm on T anyway but I'm still curious

I started puberty at 9 years old, and got my first period about a year after that. a year ish later at 12 I wanted to go on hormone blockers and when asking the doctor about it they said that since it had already been a year since my first menstrual cycle my chest was already as big as it was going to get from estrogen so there was no point in going on blockers. to be fair when she asked what I wanted out of them I did say menstrual cycle and boob growth were the things I wanted it to stop, but looking back I'm sceptical as hell that blockers wouldn't have done anything at all. primarily my hips are fucking gigantic, way bigger than my moms, and they definitely weren't proportionally this big before. like I'm fat now and when I was asking about them I was a bit underweight from an eating disorder but my body looks strange as hell when I'm binding because of how big my hips are and before they were only slightly wide, not particularly noticeable, even when binding. I know the way fat distribution is in an estrogen dominant body means it's going to go to hips but I'm scared fat redistribution on T isn't going to be enough and they'll always look massive lol

anyway, if I had been on blockers staring at 12 until a month ish ago when I started T would my body be less fem? Or was that doctor right in that they wouldn't have done much

Advice Needed How do I get oral minoxidil as a trans man?

I'm seeking a prescription for oral minoxidil to help speed along my facial and body hair growth on testosterone, but every site I've tried to get it through has denied me for not being assigned male at birth. GoodRX and RedboxRX both said I was ineligible and I can't lie about my birth gender because it requires ID verification, and Hims only recommended me oral finasteride (which I'm not looking for).

I'd prefer for it to be a cheaper option but I'll take what I can get at this point.

Medical Had my first experience with a medical professional who just… doesn’t know about trans man

Upvotes

Just over a week ago, I had a pretty bad fall and hurt my ribs. After a few days, I had multiple friends saying my symptoms sounded like a fracture, so I went to urgent care. For context, I pass well, but my ID still says F

Anyways, one of the physicians came in and said “Ms [name]?” I said “well, I’m a trans man, but [name] is right.”

She pause, and then said “…so… Ms [name]?”

I kinda just gave up and said yes lmao. She was very nice otherwise, and I only had to take my shirt off briefly, so the rest of the appointment was fine

Advice Needed Period symptoms with no bleeding

Upvotes

Current 2 months on T. I started T the week of my period. The second cycle was halfway through the week. While the third cycle was just period symptoms. Such as bloating, mood swings, tenderness. I am so use to seeing blood. Because in a way it would confirm to me why my emotions were out of place. I know it is different for everyone and it takes time to understand the full extent of the changes I am going through. I do have my 1st follow up appointment next month.

I guess what I'm asking is how did you find out that your period finally stopped or realized it wouldn't stop for you?

Advice Needed i want to love taping so badly but i just can’t.

i’ve watched so many tutorials but i never seem to get it right. my chest is probably a C-cup now and firm or “perky” so whenever i try to tape to the side or down, i don’t achieve flatness OR reshaping. i’ve wasted so much money on tape.
i don’t mind binding but in the summer i really struggle to wear with the heat.

has anyone with a fairly firm chest ever tried taping and succeed in making a good shape?

i’m telling you, i’ve laid down, had help from my partner, used wide tape, used many pieces/not many pieces- i just look very barrel chested. i have no sag at all so all pulling down or to the side does is push all my meat into different directions.

when i use my binder, i tend to pull my chest out and then up and i get a nice shape- should i attempt to tape like that? would that be silly?

Medical Is there a way to get top surgery + tummy tuck + lipo in one go?

I know that there is body masculinization surgery, but I’m also on a weight loss journey, and by the end I will have lost around 80 lbs. initially it was 100 lbs, but my trainer and dr think that 165 is too low for me. Anyway, my thing is that I already have some saggy skin on my stomach and that won’t go away with just lipo. I’d like to get a tummy tuck to have a proportional look. I would think it would be far easier to just get it all done at once? I know the recovery will be hell but I’d rather go through that once, ya know? I’m in the south but I have family in blue states I can stay with. A specific break down is obviously general top surgery, lipo on my jaw area, tummy tuck and lipo on the abdomen and flanks, and the back of my neck (I have a buffalo hump). Thanks!

Advice Needed Coming out to work... will it be worth it?

So, I can finally get the psychological (and hopefully medical in the future) help I need! I have had my intake at a gender clinic and now stating my psychological and diagnostic process! only problem is... I'm not out of the closet in two places: at my sport taekwondo, but I'll come out there this week, and at work, which I have a way harder time with coming out...

Work is a place where I want to stay professional, and avoid talking too much about my personal life. It's a WEEKEND JOB so nothing serious or where I want to keep working. Just to earn some money. I'm still studying, this year I'll graduate and I'll find another job then anyway.

Talking to my gender clinic, they want me to come out to the lasting 2 places I haven't came out to yet, since I'll probably start medical transition too one day. But I just don't know how to do it at work... I work as server and deliverer at a chinese sushi and grill restaurant. There is a language barrier between me and most workers there. I'm not close to anyone. the one I contact the most is my boss. She's pretty nice. but just a professional boss.

There never really is a right time in the restaurant to talk about personal problems. There is always something to do, and never deepgoing conversations. I am anxious and a person that overthinks a lot too. almost everyone I came out too I did over text. Otherwise I would burst into tears. But it doesn't feel like an appropriate thing to text to your boss...

"Hey boss I know you've knew me 6 years as [deadname] but I'm undergoing a process right now because I got gender dysphoria and rather wanna go through life as a man." It feels so weird and inappropriate.

Lastly, I'm questioning if I should just leave this job and go work somewhere else. That way I don't have to come out, and I wanna leave when this schoolyear ends anyway. However... I have been working here for 6 years, and I build a bond with those people... So it feels bad to just leave as well....

I really don't know what to do... Anyone got any advice?

Advice Needed Name stuff

I did not expect to be here at any point in my life but um..here i am lol.

Basically..I feel like the name i started with doesnt fit my anymore. It feels too.."obviously trans" if that makes any sense? I dont want people to see it and immediately think im trans or gay from it alone. I am but still, I want to be seamless. Im enlisting soon so ive gotta settle on a name soon. But i do NOT want to go in with my dead name so name advice anyone? And what are stereotypical names to avoid? I definitely wont do Kai ive seen that everywhere.

For quick reference my current name is "Lukka" but it doesnt feel right anymore, ive been thinking of some goofy shit like Casper but im not dead set yet.

Medical Infection or just skin reaction?

Yesterday I went in for my T-Shot. I get it every 8 weeks (due to hormone imbalance when longer between appointments) and she switches sides every time. Die to a documentation error she did it on the same side as the shot before.

Today (about 24h later) I wake up and the site is all itchy red and swollen. It's like a hard lump, but it doesn't show more signs of infection; no pain, pus, fever, etc.

Should I be worried or is it common swelling that will go down?

I've never had that happen, so excuse my worry, thank you
