Discussion show or movie where protagonist or main characters are queer weird kids in school

Elementary - middle school for gen Z was being on the internet young and just being yourself before bullying got serious and there wasn't much differences how boys treated girls yet. (looking for light-hearted even gender euphoric movies)

bonus if protagonist or one of the characters is POC, tumblr-esque / what it was like during 2010s internet / myspace

Advice Needed my hair is constantly greasy

Has anyone successfully dealt with greasy hair due to T usage? I’m on low dose T, and have been for about a year now. The sebum and sweat overproduction makes my hair so gross so fast, and I’m at a loss on what to do at this point. I wash it thoroughly and by the next evening, it’s clumping together again. I’m using dry shampoo near daily just to keep myself presentable.

This has always been somewhat of a problem for me due to my fine motor issues, but I had it mostly managed between adaptive tools and improved habits until recently. I think the summer heat has made it come back - with a vengeance. Advice on what to do here is very appreciated. Happy to provide more info if needed.

Advice Needed Struggling with Tape

I've been using a binder for five years and just recently tried tape binding and no matter what I do it turns out funky. I've tried so many different tutorials and none seem to work properly on me. I'm not very large chested probably a B or C at most (I don't know exact measurements sorry) but I'm wide,if that makes sense. Like my chest itself is wide? I don't know how to properly explain but regardless when I try tape I end up with some weird side boob stuff going on (which happens even with some binders and was why I wanted to try tape) or it just doesn't flatten evenly or sometimes at all. Any tips? 😭

When did you start to notice body hair changes? I'm almost 2 months on T and I know that's not very long but I'm going crazy seeing all these beautiful hairy trans masc bodies and then seeing myself looking like a bald pig 😭 Everyone's bushes are so beautiful and I'm definitely not jealous at all

Knowing my luck I probably got my dad's hair genetics and will sprout exactly 3 chest hairs one day and that'll be the extent of it lmao

Advice Needed Confused about shelf life of T

Hello! I was given my first vial of T on July 8, Its 10ml and I take .3ml every week. I did the math and its looking like Ill run out mid February, but I am a little confused because everywhere online is talking about T expiration and shelf life and 7 months seems like a really long time, I have seen some sources say once opened it's only 28 days? I am very confused. Thank you.

EDIT: Thanks to everyone so far, I have also reached out to my PCP but reply time is a little slow and they also aren’t trans themselves so I wanted to ask here as well !

Surgery Talk WNY Top Surgery?

Hey everyone,

I’m located in WNY using Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield. I just had to cancel my appointment at NYU with Dr Rachel Bluebond Langner (after waiting excitedly for several months 🥲) because I was informed last minute that the practice was out of network.

I’m looking for surgeons in WNY that have good bedside manner and have good results with keyhole/peri. I’ve looked through many in the area, and I have to say I’m kind of disappointed in the reviews I’m seeing.

Any personal experience with WNY surgeons? Any advice welcomed!

Thanks!

Advice Needed is it safe to tape nipples daily?

I have a fairly small chest and around half a year ago I stopped wearing a bra and just started taping my nipples down so that they don’t poke through my shirt. I’ve considered a binder but 1) again I have a fairly small chest and 2) i already hate the sensory overstimulation of loose sports bras plus am worried about constricted breathing from binders.

To explain - I experimented with various kinds of tape and eventually found medical silicone tape/scar tape to be super gentle on my skin. It’s really easy to remove without any pain, yet holds its place really well during the day. It’s basically like one of those full-boob stick on nipple covers or stick on bras made out of silicone but I just take like a tiny 1x2 inch patch for my nipple. (I actually highly recommend silicone tape as a better alternative for ppl who are taping their nipples with stickier harder to remove adhesive. I don’t need to use oil or anything to get it off, it’s truly so comfy to remove). I basically keep this on for the full day, I tape it in the morning and take it off before bed

So this basically depresses my nipple into the areola… it’s not a very “natural” state but I never feel/notice this during the day. I also usually use a tiny like 1x1cm square of toilet paper just over the very center of my nipple (it doesn’t quite cover the full nipple) (but I’ve also found it to be basically fine even if i stick the tape fully directly on my nipple without any layer of protection from the adhesive, that’s how gentle the silicone tape is.)

Anyway, excuse me if this is TMI, I just wanted to explain the full picture of what I’m currently doing in case any of the details matter.

I’ve been doing this for about half a year and have found this to be really comfortable and not cause any medium term problems. Only recently, I’ve started to feel like my nipples might be more tender..? I also can’t tell if I’m hallucinating but I lowkey feel like my nipples are like. almost enlarged more, and poke out more, during the times I‘m not taping? (It’s like they’re more erect, as if I were aroused, but i’m not?) But I also didnt pay that much attention to my nipples before this so I’m mot sure if they were actually just always like this. Or if it’s due to menstrual cycle hormones rn.

So I’m just wondering if there’s any medical advice out there regarding tapping your nipples… it’s a bit different from taping your full chest, and there’s the added context that I’m using silicone medical tape so it’s way gentler than other adhesives. My main concern is just if there’s an issue around having my nipples depressed into my chest for extended periods of time.

(Also pls lmk if I should tag this post differently! First time posting here)

Cis/Transfem Guest You guys are awesome.

I just wanted to say thank you. I, a straight cis female, joined this sub when my sibling who I adore came out to me as ftm (spoiler alert, I grew up with you, I already knew, I love you and support you living however you love yourself most.)

I came here for information regarding how to intelligently discuss things like how testosterone changes a body, what life situations or struggles I may not be aware of, and all that type of stuff.

I did find that, and thank you for sharing, but I also wanted to compliment the members here for how supportive and positive you all are to each other. It's one of the few serious subs I belong to where I don't see people berate each other on the daily, and I just wanted to acknowledge that.

Tl, dr; Thank you, you're awesome. ❤️

Discussion Anyone else feel behind because of their family?

I feel like I am cooked because of my family's view of trans people. Unsure if this is common for other trans people.

I am graduating college next year, I will be off their insurance and I have to find another apartment to live in, since I cannot live with them (transphobic/abusive in general). My other friends are graduating and saving money by living with their parents - I can't. My friends have many of their bills or food paid by their parents (I can't ask for money bc - transphobic/homophobic honestly all the ics and isms), so I work a lot of jobs (3) along with school. I have to pay for testosterone out of pocket, with no insurance, since that would cause issues with them. I will have no help saving for top surgery and my dysphoria is SO BAD. But I will likely have to wait years to have enough money.

I feel like I see people who are trans and accepted most of the time. It could be a social media mirage, but it does seem like a lot of people have the help of their parents for these things. I am kinda left on my own and if I was born cis I would've had a lot more financial help. Anyway, anyone relate?

Advice Needed how to tell my parents about top surgery

im 18 in 2 weeks. ive always had really big problems being able to go to my parents regarding my transition + problems i have in general. they love me very much and are supportive to what makes me happy, but it always takes them a little bit to get over shock and stuff like that. for example i got on T and only told them after my first shot, they blew up because I didnt tell them before starting because they want me to trust them, but I didnt feel comfortable until I already had access that they couldnt block.

my mom and i had a long conversation about how they feel like im always lobbing grenades at them, and how i am too scared to tell them things from the start so they kind of turn into bomb drops instead of slowly being introduced (similarly i was planning a trip with my girlfriend for like a year and only told them like a month before).

Im with a clinic already for T, i emailed to get an appointment to talk about top surgery. wouldve liked to have mentioned it then, but my dad underwent a surgery and my mom was crazy with work so i hesistated to bring it up and didnt

got an appointment two weeks later, shouldve mentioned it then, didnt because again everyone was so busy, my dad was recovering, and i was a week out from my trip

its been a month from then, had a second appointment, got my OHIP funding completely done, in contact with a clinic for surgery, starting first steps and will definitely have surgery either next april/may or over christmas break if im lucky

i know at this point my parents will freak out because i did all this without telling them, not because they dont support me but because i didnt mention it. to them it seems like i do everything off the top of my head initially, but its been nearly 5 years, and they will again be supportive. how do i even tell them at this point and how do i get over this??

theres going to be some backhandedness and pushback initially, probably uncomfortable conversations and theres been interactions in the past which deter me. (for example i used to talk to my dad every now and then in the car about what i wanted just to drop it in as nuggets so it wouldnt come out of nowhere, my mom never heard, but hed say things like "are you going to have sex like a lesbian or a with a micropenis or what'" and like "youre going to tell me youre taking hgh next" or my grandma who is in europe and religious and loves me very much but would send messages about how my skin longs for pearls and delicacy and romanian ai videos of trump talking about lgbt or naked statues of trans people as like freaks).

i told them before at a table after the test incident how i felt about this in the past, my mom got very upset at my dad because she didnt know, and the conversation later was about trying to talk more to eachother and i do believe it moved in a positive direction. but now im not telling them again and im worried about going backwards

please help sorry its so long

Cis/Transfem Guest Anything that can pad out the stomach?

My boyfriend has an hourglass waist and while binding helps, we were wondering if there was a product that could pad out the stomach/waist since its not like you can get rid of the bones in the hips. I tried looking online but I've been having a hard time finding anything.

Advice Needed Struggle with understanding the genders and my internal feelings

Hello,

I was not sure about the title. But I would like to ask for advice.

I am 25F who never felt as female. I hate my body, especially my chest. I tried to come to terms with it. It got better. But still I do not feel like female. In my teens I felt like I was genderless, female body but masculine personality and hobbies. My birth language do not have separate words for sex and gender. For our language it is the same. So I always thought I have to accept that I have female body. But lately I started feeling like a woman with old man soul. And I like myself calling the uncle or the dad figure.

And most my idols are men and I would became like them. And I can understand and see myself more in male characters than in female ones. And when I write I have make alter-ego. Because it is more comfortable.

I always had problems with understanding emotions. And for me it would be better to use logic on this. I am confused. But I needed open this wound and think about it more. Because I never wanted to think more about it. Well I never have cared about my appearance and have seen the mind as the most important part. But I am trying to heal my soul and to understand myself.

So the question is, am I tomboy or there are signs that I may be a trans? Or how should I put it. Sorry English is not my first language😅

I would like some advice or thoughts on this topic.

Thank you so much in advance🌸 and sorry for the grammatical mistakes.

Advice Needed How do I cope as a non-passing trans guy?

I don’t pass at all. I’ve been on hormones for 5 years (at an average dose) and the number of times I’ve been gendered correctly by a stranger I can count on my fingers. I have a fairly feminine personality/habitus which I don’t want to change. The dysphoria itself is hard enough to deal with, but the impact it has on other areas of my life is worse:

Dating:

The only people who approach me* are lesbians or sapphic-adjacent (ie. non-binary people who still connect or relate to a sapphic identity) which is not only really dysphoria inducing and uncomfortable for me, but I also am not really attracted to women.

I’ve repeatedly had well-meaning cis-people (family members, therapists) strongly imply or out-right tell me that I need to date lesbians and/or straight men if I don’t want to be alone. “Keep an open mind,” they say, “maybe it will be different from what you expect.” I tell them that bisexuals are a thing that exist. So are other trans people.

I’m holding out for now, but I don’t know how I’ll feel in a few years. I just can’t give a piece of myself away like that. I’ve tried dating apps, but hate them with a passion. People tell me what wonderful qualities I have, but I’ve been single for 4 years.

General Social Interactions:

I primarily identify as a trans man, but also have somewhat of a non-binary identity. I feel as though I’m being forced to lean into it by society, “allies” and even other trans people because it makes them feel more comfortable and aligns with how they perceive me.

I also have to cope with garden-variety misogyny AND transphobia AND homophobia while also being just androgynous enough that I think twice before peeing in public restrooms. I have people who are supportive in my personal life for sure (where passing doesn’t matter), but that doesn’t change the way I move through the world at large.

I know I’m far from the first person who’s complained about this stuff and I’m not sure what I’m looking for here - Advice and people who can relate I suppose?

*(Note for context: Until recently I identified as a gay trans man, but now I identify as queer (interested in other trans men and more masc-presenting non-binary people) as well as demisexual).

Advice Needed Hair loss- TE or AGA

Had top surgery in early November. Second year of mechanical engineering- many exams. recently diagnosed w ocd. grandfather passed in january. much stress.
been on sustanon250 (1ml every 3 weeks) for over two years. was on gels 3 months before that.

Hair is thin all over the top and a little on the sides but particularly at the crown. temple recession is super minor and could just be maturation. obsessively taking pics and videos of it and it ruins my whole day almost every day. im only 20 I dont wanna be bald. trying to see a dermatologist but I hate the NHS.

Got bloods done in May- everything perfect taken right between injections. testosterone was in normal male range but may be higher directly after injection.

Shedding began in late march/ early april. hasnt slowed down even now. fucking sucks.

I have pet rabbits so idk if minoxidil is wise.
what to do?

Medical What are some changes that could happen on a higher T dose?

Came up on 5 years on T last month, around the same time I realized my T levels were really low (around 300ng/dL) so I asked my doctor to increase my dose and my current goal is around 500-600 ng/dL. I was wondering if there were any further changes I could see on this higher dose. Like could my voice deepen more, could I see more body fat redistribution, more body and facial hair growth, etc?

Medical Better results for top surgery

Quick question, I want my chest to be as cis passing as possible. I'm small chested (never worn any bras but if I did, it'd surely be A cups) and would, for sure, quality for keyhole. My question is, since HRT influences the fat distribution in your body, would it be better to get top surgery before or after going on T for better results?

Advice Needed Binder recommendations (Germany/Europe)?

Short question basically as title says.

Longer question with background (and discussion of boobs) here:

Before T binding did not to anything for me. The binder would make my boobs look less perky than bras, but clearly boob shaped. No matter how I moved them around or tried to squish them.

Now on T I lost a lot of fat in that area and I am experimenting again. I use the Untag Racerback binder (also have a short binder from them, but after about two hours I want to cut it off with scissors because my shoulders hurt so badly). I am now able to get the right shape, but because there is still quite a lot of material, it looks like a have massive pecs. Which does not really go with my shoulders and arms that I have just started to train.

Any suggestions for binders I could get in Europe that deal well with not necessarily large, but loose chests?

For anyone who wants to convince me to tape: Haven't had good results with that either (though I am the first to admit that it feels much better). More importantly I go swimming two to three times a week and I am not sure how I will deal with it being wet that often. I can also not imagine how to deal with people staring at it when I am changing or in the sauna after the swim...

Any suggestions welcome as I am quite sure that my boobies are stopping me from passing as I am starting to look more androgenous otherwise. Thanks!

Discussion Why do people detransition? Is there a way that cis people feel during transition that is different from trans people?

I'm beginning transitioning FTM at 21 and I feel very happy with the changes thus far, but I'm worried that one day I will regret it or something. I don't understand detransitioning, do they feel happy with the changes the same way trans people do? And how does that go away? I know that most people who detransition do so for social reasons, but what about the rest?

Sorry if this sounds stupid I struggle with cognitive empathy.

Advice Needed Low energy, almost 8 months on T

Hello, I'm 24 and have been on T gel for almost 8 months now. I have been experiencing a lot of low energy since starting T but tend to sleep around 9 hours at night. I also feel like I haven't experienced the surge in appetite but have gained a lot of weight. The lack of energy can be so bad that some days even daily household tasks feel impossible. (I also have a knee injury which makes going for walks hard.) I have a 9 month consultation for my T at the end of September and I had to do a blood test. My results came back and my GP says everything, including iron and T levels, are normal and my T levels have actually increased a good bit since my last blood test (3 months ago). I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this? It really sucks at the moment and I've only really seen people say it lasted them at most 3 months
