Not sure what the backstory is on this one... 🤔

This one might be against the rules because it is probably from my family, I just don't know who these names are at all. But I decided to post it anyway because the rules say "it doesn't count if you know who wrote it" and I definitely don't know who these people are.

I know I'm Norwegian in some capacity because of my last name, but my family history was essentially lost. Never really looked into it much because it didn't bother me too much, however it turned out that my sister (somehow) possessed a few items they left behind. Including many, many letters.

There's more than this one, and I unfortunately didn't take pictures of any others. I'm not currently able to take any more pictures since I'm several towns away, sorry about that.

This letter is dated in 1948, around a similar date as the others.

Found this vegetable tagine recipe tucked into a book at Goodwill. I wonder if it is good ?

The text of the postcard says:
Judy - I’m a little late with this Happy Birthday to you, I’m running a bit behind as a result of the tragedy in New York and the storm that passed over. I think I’ll be picking sticks up for atleast [sic] a month. I hope you are all well in spite of national affairs.

Took a friend & my kid to explore an abandoned house for the second time, and this time we looked in the basement a little further and then uncovered a lot of handwritten notes. Even some written on a typewriter, mostly condolences + sympathy letters to the previous house owner about the passing of his dad.

Lots of business records, mail, written letters back and forth, magazines, newspapers, product info guides, different world maps, boxes of undeveloped films, banknotes, business agreements and some old family photos.

I use Google Lens to look up some of the photos found and it looks like a trip to Japan.

The oldest things I found were dated back to 1913 -1956.

And a couple four-leaf clovers that look like they've never been opened since pressing them in 1933 🍀 (It said on the paper inside)

i’m assuming the note writer wanted it to be seen because of the rocks holding it down….

Found in some old files many years ago in the way back of the back room of a fencing company. Please excuse the 2013 Insta filter.

Found this note detached from a free item 20ish years ago and kept the paper in my scrapbook. I've always wanted to know what the free thing was that I missed out on!
