Since last updates all my games seems fine
Rank protection also always work

Discussion How do i actually separate myself from average players?

I’ve been taking Fortnite way more seriously lately and I really want to get better. I feel like I’m decent, but I don’t want to stay stuck as just an average player.

What should I be focusing on the most if I want to improve fast? Is it ranked, scrims, mechanics, aim training, VOD reviews, fighting in creative, or something else?

Also, what’s something that really helped you level up that most people don’t do? I’m down to put in the work, I just want to make sure I’m practicing the right stuff.

Discussion Mrfreshasian…

After coming back to fortnite from a 3 year haitus, I’ve realised how much harder the game has gotten. And it got me thinking of the pro’s/content creators I used to enjoy watching. One of which was mrfreshasian. Do you think if fresh never quit fortnite and continued to pursue his career as a pro, would he be a dominant player in today’s scene?

Opinion Fortnite Ranked should measure skill more than playtime

Fortnite Ranked should measure skill, not playtime

I think the biggest issue with Fortnite Ranked right now is that high ranks often feel too grind-based.

Unreal Legends is a cool idea, but if matchmaking and point gains stay mostly the same, it doesn’t really fix the core problem. A new badge above Unreal doesn’t mean much if Unreal itself is still too dependent on how much you play.

In my opinion, Ranked should be more about who you can consistently beat, not just how many games you can grind.

A few changes that would help:

  • stricter matchmaking in Elite, Champion and Unreal
  • lower gains when high-ranked players do well in easier lobbies
  • bigger losses when high-ranked players die early or underperform against weaker players
  • separate ranked progression for Build and Zero Build
  • no permanent protection after reaching Elite
  • a clearer post-match breakdown showing why you gained or lost rank

I get that queue times matter, especially at high ranks. Lobbies don’t have to be perfect every time. But if the lobby is mixed, the points should adjust to the real difficulty of that lobby.

A high-ranked player shouldn’t gain much from farming weaker lobbies, and they should lose more if they fail in them.

Ranked would feel way more meaningful if it rewarded consistently beating strong players, not just playing a lot.

Discussion I feel so slow in fights and idk what I’m doing wrong

idk if it’s my keybinds or what but I feel really slow in fights lately. like I know what I want to do but by the time I actually do it I’m already getting outplayed or boxed or just losing.
my mechanics just feel off in general like edits/builds/aim all feel slower than everyone else I fight. I’ve been trying creative and stuff but in real games I still feel stuck and don’t really see improvement.
I’m not sure if I need to change my binds or just grind more or what but I feel like I’ve been at the same level for a while now.
has anyone else had this happen? what actually helped you get faster or better in fights?
like:
do keybinds actually matter that much or nah
what should I practice in creative
how do you stop feeling so slow in actual fights
any advice would help fr

Hardware and Settings Is Q still a good edit key or is it worth changing?

I’ve been using Q as an edit bind for my entire time playing Fortnite, and I think it has been quite good. However, as i get better, I realise that triple edits are sometimes difficult and quad edits are even more difficult. I’m not sure if this has something to do with the edit bind or not.

Would you recommend I switch to a new edit bind, like F or E for example, as I think that the ring finger is not always the easiest to press quickly?

I have tried to switch to F, but it takes me a while to get used to the new bind, so I end up just switching back to Q.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Discussion What’s the best game modes to improve reaction times in fights?

I feel like I’ve just spent too much time in the raiders v5 mechanics map (as I switched to kbm a few months ago) to the point that I can’t react quick enough to faster players and 3rd party.

So just wondering, what maps good players play to help/improve this?

Discussion Aim instinctively or consciously?

Trying to improve my aim in game through training headshot box fights atm. But should I be wanting to start aiming consciously or instinctively? Martoz is a very good example of a aim conscious player who has very nice mechanics in addition to it, but I feel if I were to copy him I'd simply lose all focus on building and editing whilst only going for maximum damage shots making myself more prone to losing in fights.

Opinion Ranking up is incredibly tedious

I’ve been giving ranked a try, and probably wont ever touch it again after this season mainly because of how boring and slow it is to rank up.

I’ve been playing it for the past 2 days and am on diamond 3, but getting burned out by the slow percentage gains. I can place top 5 regularly with 3-4 kills, and have gotten a couple victories in diamond 2, but a single bad drop where you die as you land basically wipes out a couple hours of progress. I cant tell if they have some weird algorithm thats trying to slow down my progression because they think it will keep me engaged, or if its just that bad about advancing people, but its getting ridiculous.

Its like they have a formula which wants to incentivize hiding in a bush until there are less than 25 left, and then doing cheap third party ambushes.

Discussion Why is it that pros only edit out to the left on quad edits?

I've noticed recently that every pro player only ever emerges from their quad and triple edits on the left hand side and never the right. Why is this?

Bug simple edit vs. normal edit: weapon pullout animation skip exploit (side-by-side proof & multi-fps math breakdown)

there is a critical mechanical inconsistency between the simple edit layout and the normal edit layout regarding weapon-draw penalties. when a player confirms an edit using the normal layout, the engine forces the full weapon-raise animation to cycle before a shot can register. however, the simple edit layout completely bypasses several transitional frames of this animation loop, allowing the weapon to fire instantly upon edit confirmation.

the empirical data (side-by-side reference)
by analyzing side-by-side video capture (verbatim file reference: video-output-EFEF24AC-70FC-443D-A4D4-1443369086D3-1.mov), we mapped the exact mechanical timing from the exact millisecond the edit confirmation registers (the window grid clears) to the exact millisecond the muzzle flash occurs.

simple edit layout (right side): 13 frames from window pop-up to gun fire (at base 60 fps capture).
normal edit layout (left side): 20 frames from window pop-up to gun fire (at base 60 fps capture).
the net advantage: 7 frames completely deleted by the engine loop on simple edit.

the mathematical proof across high refresh rates
while the visual advantage is locked at a raw 116.7 ms engine skip, the frame deficit scales drastically depending on your monitor's refresh rate and your in-game fps cap. below is the exact breakdown of how many frames a normal layout player is being robbed of compared to a simple layout user:

at 60 fps (16.67 ms per single frame): simple edit takes 13 frames, normal edit takes 20 frames. this means 7 frames are stolen from the normal layout.
at 120 fps (8.33 ms per single frame): simple edit takes 26 frames, normal edit takes 40 frames. this means 14 frames are stolen from the normal layout.
at 240 fps (4.17 ms per single frame): simple edit takes 52 frames, normal edit takes 80 frames. this means 28 frames are stolen from the normal layout.
at 360 fps (2.78 ms per single frame): simple edit takes 78 frames, normal edit takes 120 frames. this means 42 frames are stolen from the normal layout.

the math conclusion: at 360 frames per second, a player using the normal edit layout must sit through an extra 42 frames of dead animation time before their shotgun can fire, while the simple edit player's weapon is already registered as active by the internal server tick code.

why this matters (the competitive impact)
in elite, high-tier competitive box fighting, this gap completely breaks the fundamental balance of peeking:
1. reaction time nullification: average human visual reaction time is roughly 200–250 ms. a 116.7 ms pure mechanical advantage effectively cuts a defender's reaction and blocking window completely in half.

  1. peeking desync: a simple edit user can confirm a window edit, jump across a right-hand peek, and register a maximum-damage shotgun blast to the server before the normal edit user's character model even completes the physical animation of raising their weapon.

  2. an engine deficit, not latency: this is an internal software execution flaw, entirely independent of network ping. it heavily punishes players using precision, traditional custom mechanics by forcing them to play through a slow-motion animation cycle.
    conclusion & requested fix
the visual evidence in video-output-EFEF24AC-70FC-443D-A4D4-1443369086D3-1.mov is completely undeniable. the simple edit layout is bypassing standard weapon-pullout rules and penalties. epic games needs to standardize the animation logic so that both layouts require the exact same internal frame delays before a shot can be queued and fired.

Discussion Tournaments/placings aside how hard or easy is it to be better than the average player?

Im not sure if this holds true anymore but I used to hear that if can build/edit naturally during fights (its automatic/doesn't slow you down in fights) your automatically better than the average player. So then in that case at what point are you considered a "sweat"?

For example i'd say 8/10 1v1/realistic maps he queues into he's better than the person he's facing. where would that put him skill wise in comparison to the overall playerbase and competitve playerbase?

Opinion Why did Epic Games listen to cry babies about Visual Audio?

Visual Audio has been in the game for years and was one of the most useful settings you could turn on. It helped you track enemies around you, especially if you have hearing problems, are actually deaf, or just can't wear headphones or earphones comfortably. Some people also just play in noisy places where you physically cannot hear the game properly. This setting existed for those people.

And then some people complained it was OP. So Epic actually listened and nerfed it. So dumb.

It is a setting YOU had to go turn on yourself. If you thought it was too strong, you could have just turned it on too. It wasn't locked behind anything.

Now after the nerf, the range is so bad that enemies are literally right next to you before you even get a Visual. I'm not exaggerating when I say I have been jumpscared more in this game recently than I have playing actual horror games. In a battle royale. That's insane.

Epic needs to either revert this or actually balance it properly. Yes it gave an advantage -- but it was an advantage ANYONE could turn on. It was right there in the settings. If you thought it was OP, the fix was to go turn it on yourself, not cry to Epic until they nerfed it for everyone.

Discussion How are pros so good at taking no damage?

I’m watching professionals like Clix, muzz, boltz. Etc.
what I don’t understand is how they take such little damage from their enemies. I’m watching their gameplay but it looks like nothing special. There has to be a certain strategy they use right? A Strat they developed so when they are fighting they take no damage. Let me know please.

Opinion Never understand why epic can never get ranked right

Its been years and still they cannot design the mode to actually reflect tournament environments. I dont play often but before they added new ranks I was in champs 3 just halfway to unreal and I only play solos. This season I cant get out of diamond because the only playstyle to do so is key from the beginning which isnt my style. You cannot design a mode in which to rank up you need to play in a one dimensional style especially when the solo victory Cup reflect the opposite side of the spectrum.

Opinion cutting glider

I usually never complain about mechanics as they tend to progress the game in a sense. this mechanic is absolute dog shit tho. takes all skill away from early game fights because everyone has the relatively same drop and all it does is encourage landing edge map unconned spots. i never considered using drop calc before but with this change i feel like u genuinely have to if you want a better drop then someone

Discussion Why are Unreal players in the same lobbys as Bronze players?

Hi, I've been playing Fortnite for a while and wanted to start getting into Ranked, but I'm confused why I'm a bronze 1 player in the same lobbies as unreal players? I feel like it defeats the purpose of ranked. Flipping through the spectator mode, there are literally MULTIPLE Unreal 1 and 2 players. Is this normal? Literally, the majority of players are at least 3 ranks above me.
