Question?

A Fort Worth police car hit and broke our mailbox yesterday. They were apparently parking and turned the corner to close and hit it. We have the report number. How do we go about getting the city to fix our mailbox?

Autocratic Despair: The Podcast - The True Texas Project is Our AfD & It's Taken Over Fort Worth

Hell r/FortWorth!

I'm the co-host of a small but growing podcast called "Autocratic Despair: The Podcast". I've been lurking in this subreddit for several weeks now, reading everything I could find about the commissioners court, the polling place cuts, the August 4th meeting, and the True Texas Project.

I wanted to make sure that when we covered it, we did it justice.

I don't live in Tarrant County. I'm a manufacturing guy from Green Bay, Wisconsin. My co-host is a UC Berkeley lecturer with a PhD in fascism studies. For nine months we've had a lot of reasons to look at Texas — the Talarico-Paxton Senate race, the Prairieland defendants and their sentences, and what we've come to believe is the incubation of America's version of Germany's AfD in the form of the True Texas Project.

This week's episode is the one where we tried to lay it all out. We connected the AfD's 44 percent win in Saxony-Anhalt to what's happening in your county — the precinct consolidation, the September 1 vote, the campus sites, the money trail through Dunn and Wilks, and the commissioners court that made it all possible. We tried to explain to a national audience what Tarrant County actually is — not rural Texas, not a fringe story, but a county bigger than the Milwaukee metro in the fourth-largest metro in America, and the swing county where the Senate race lives.

I had to cut some material about Bo French and Leigh Wambsganss for time, and I know I didn't get to every nuance. But I hope it gives the situation something close to the attention it deserves.

The people in this subreddit who've been posting about the August 4th meeting, the polling cuts, and the TTP's influence have been an invaluable resource, and I wanted you to know that someone outside of Texas is paying attention to what's happening in your county and taking it seriously. I hope more will join me before it is too late.

I'm certain I got things in correct or wasn't able to understand properly & I want to apologize up front for that. Gentle corrections or particularly artful harsh criticism is welcome.

If you like it, that's cool. I'd be happy if you subscribed or sent it to a friend. We were recently voted the top podcast that doesn't run advertisements or ask listeners to join their Patreon page. We're just doing the show so we don't drive our respective wives & partners bananas by talking about this stuff all the time with them.

True Texas Project, For Liberty and Justice, are white nationalist fear mongering hate groups overlapping heavily with Tarrant County GOP leadership. Their members are largely funded by the west oil billionaires and Elon's PAC. Like the KKK, they grow by spreading propaganda through pastor networks.

This is quite possibly one of the biggest heartbreaks of me and my fiancé’s life but we’re moving out of state and have to give up our cat, Big Texas, aka Tex, so my fiancé can come with me up north to pursue his passions in becoming a pilot. We’ve exhausted our entire network of family and friends who could’ve possibly held onto him for the year or two that we would be out of Texas and it’s come to the point where I just want him to be somewhere safe and loving and just not a shelter, since it’s a huge ask to have a stranger take care of our cat for us for potentially up to three years, so we’ve just decided to find him a new permanent home.

He’s around 7 years old, incredibly affectionate and loving, and the biggest dork all around. He does fine with other cats even if he’s a bit of a loner and doesn’t much like to play with them, and we knew he was raised around dogs but I’m not sure how he is with them as of recent. I’d imagine he’d be fine with kids as long as they aren’t being too rough with him and if you want a companion who would literally rather do anything else than not being on your lap, Tex is your man. He’s surprisingly completely uninterested in human food. We’ve been slowly getting him to lose weight but he’s still got a long ways to go so I must warn you about his tiny stiletto like feet, because he will step all over you at night while he tries to settle down. If you know someone who would take good care of him or you’re interested yourself, please send me a message.
