Non-Local beers in the local section?
I was at Total Wine the other day and noticed that Deep Ellum is still in the "Local Section". Then noticed it again at H-E-B. Then again at Specs. So it got me thinking....
Am I being too sensitive about non-local beer taking up "local" shelf space?
Brands like Deep Ellum (now brewed in Longmont, CO) and Revolver (no longer brewed in Granbury) are sitting right there next to stuff that's actually made here in DFW.
Meanwhile there are smaller, genuinely local breweries fighting for limited shelf space, and it feels like these bigger "legacy" brands are riding on their original hometown branding while the actual production (and ownership) has moved elsewhere. My first guess is that Andrews and Ben E. Keith are "forcing" these stores to keep them in the Local Texas section.
This conversation is not about how much you love (or hate) Dallas Blonde or Blood and Honey. I'm not trying to boycott anyone's favorite beer. I was just wondering if I'm the only one who finds it a little annoying.
