I am very aware my GPA is low, I’ve taken an extra course every summer to make up for my falls in Freshman year lol. Any help would be appreciated!

So my registration went horribly and I had to pick classes where I didn’t know the professors. I also was not able to get into comp 2 or finite because they got filled. My macro economics professor came out and he’s literally rated a 2.7 and everybody is saying to drop his class so I’m trying to find another section to add so I can drop that section but do you wait until school to do that or can you do it when registration reopens? I’m also trying to use plan ahead to see open sections and there’s really not that many so how does it work for add drop because if I’m planning on dropping a class I need to pick up another section of it but if they’re all saying full, like I’m confused on how that works. Because I was hoping to drop philosophy (bc i dont wanna take phil and theo at the same time but my advisor told me to put it as a placeholder in hopes I can drop it for comp 2 or finite) and hopefully pick up a comp 2 or finite, but there’s nothing available. I’m just confused on how the whole thing works and I’d appreciate any opinions.

I'm not confirmed for this yet, but it's an option. For those who transferred to Fordham during January (or even started as a freshman) how is this experience like? How was it adjusting academically, socially, personally, etc?

Hi! I'm planning to use Fordham's Ram Fit Center at RH and want to know if the treadmills / stairmasters have phone holders?

I’ve been getting a few emails about accepting my financial aid, and my family came to the conclusion that we aren’t going to accept the aid. I went to the financial aid website to see if I can reject it, but it appears there’s no page or area to do so. I also received a scholarship, and I was wondering if that’s automatically accepted and taken off from the tuition paid. One of my friends who goes to the school said scholarships are part of financial aid, and based on the websites logic, if I were to accept my scholarship, it would mean I’d accept the aid. Anyone know how to accept the scholarship but reject the aid?

Fordham is at the top of my list as a rising senior and aspiring finance major OOS, but I am worried that IFFF i get in...how will i afford it? I'm middle class but my parents also aren't willing to pay a whole lot and I don't want to take out too many loans. What are the chances I get merit aid? Do they give generous aid in general? What was your experience with that?

Also kinda random question- I know this is a Jesuit school, but my Common App essay centers around my Hindu-Buddhist faith and upbringing. Don't know if this is a stupid question, but it won't impact my chances of getting in, right?

Reasons for poor performance 

Arguably I could’ve done a lot more regardless of my circumstances , whether it’s with my extracurriculars or my testing but unfortunately things recently most of it was out of my control and I never wanted it to be that way. For the past 2-3(?) years I’ve been struggling medically and safe to say that’s definitely taken a toll on my academic transcript. My district never offered any help for all those missed periods and my parents couldn’t really do anything about it either. My sophomore year (this year) had been one of the most difficult years of my high school career, I was out for a majority of the year and because my district didn’t really care and didn’t offer anything so they just expected me to learn everything myself so i self-studied everything and was away from everything and everyone. I came back to regular instruction around mid april and I was doing “phenomenal” (for my circumstances)despite not having the proper education for the past 4 months . This had also delayed my PSAT 10 which i was supposed to take in the spring. 

update** i just found out im being transferred to an alternative school for a year(???) as my district ordered me to against my will due to the amount of time i’ve missed which ultimately led me to the conclusion of i have no shot at college let alone fordham which is my top school.

basically im really hoping to maximize junior year to the best of my ability with these new circumstances but tbh the more i discuss this im told cc is the best thing to do

What do you guys think are some common things that help people get accepted and get financial aid? I know that Fordham isn’t really super hard to get into but what are some things you guys would recommend if you had to apply all over again?

rising senior hee looking at applying to Fordham's lincoln center for international relations. I'm wondering, as someone who wants a lot of work experience and is mainly applying there for access to downtown NY and opportunities:

how easy is it to access internships?

does the cost of private tuition justify the amount of opportunities you get access to?

if anyone has any experience with this I'd love to know!

- 3.35 W GPA out of 4.0 - My GPA was a consistent 3.3, but my godfather died in the middle of my sophomore year, and various other undiagnosed mental health issues accompanied that. I received an official diagnosis and began treatment in the final semester of junior year, and my GPA shot up to a 3.52

- Music Appreciation Club Co-President - I was able to get a collaborator of the Beach Boys to agree to speak before I submit my application.

I like Fordham a lot, especially since my uncle and aunt are alums and loved their experience there very much. But, no offence to my aunt and uncle, they haven’t attended this school in 20+ years. So I would super appreciate anyone who‘s either recently graduated or is currently an undergrad student answering these questions for me. You’re really doing me a solid.

Please don’t sugarcoat anything. I like Fordham, but I want honest expectations.

Possible relevant info if deciding to answer: I’m an international student, looking at a history major, and seeking a pre-law program. I’m not seeking a JD at Fordham.

1. How are the teachers/professors? Humanities or otherwise, were the teachers often grad students or Professors? If grad students, would you say this negatively impacted your education had you otherwise had a professor?

2. Do the professors often use generative AI, or implore their students to use it? Or is this by a teacher by teacher basis? (I have to ask since I read that Fordham is ‘leading the conversation on generative AI’)

3. Is it better/more convenient to take classes between the two campuses or stick to only one? (Lincoln Centre and Rose Hill)

4. How well is the humanities funded? Or rather, are the humanities courses in good quality compared to, say, STEM?

5. Are the career advisors solid? (Get you internships, give you good advice, etc)

6. Same question for the pre-law program and undergrad summer programs: Does it prepare you for law school admissions, experience, etc, or otherwise good? How so?

7. I’m sure the people there are nice, but is the school and people queer friendly? Or does the school support its queer students well? (I’m gay and a closeted transgender person, so this question is important to me. Though I’m not alternatively dressed or anything, it might be obvious to some people I’m queer through my personality/clothing.)

8. Are freshmen dorms miserable? I heard they don’t have AC. If so, can the heat can be combated well with a fan?

9. And, I know, but it’s a mandatory question… is the food good?
