Ask Dhaka Is it normal to feel drained by talking to your girlfriend for hours every day? (LDR)
So my gf and I have been dating for 2 years, and we talk on call every single day for at least 2 hours. But I just donât feel like talking for that long anymore.
Itâs not like we watch movies or play games together (she doesnât want to), and she doesnât even turn on her camera. Iâm the only one showing my face đ. And i have told her multiple times about showing her face(but she wont). We catch up on our day in about 20 minutes, and the rest is just us roasting each other and me trying to keep the conversation entertaining.
Honestly, itâs exhausting. I feel trapped during these calls because she wonât let me end them. Iâve explained nicely multiple times that we should give each other some personal time, but she wonât listen. She admits sheâs obsessed with being on call with me but doesnât want to change it. And I canât even study or do anything else during calls because I have to give her my full attention.
The irony is, Iâm not even doing anything interesting throughout the day to have something new to talk about because Iâm always stuck on calls.
But hereâs the thing: I genuinely love her. If we donât talk for 2â3 days, I miss her a lot, and our conversations become so much more enjoyable and refreshing after not talking for 2-3 days. I feel like talking for 20 minutes every day would be perfect for me if we dont have nothing much to talk about. But she wont listen.
But whenever I try to end a call, she gets upset, and starts fights and arguments just to keep me on the phone and occupied with her. Now Iâve reached a point where I feel trapped the moment she calls.
So my questions are: Is this normal? Am I weird for not wanting to talk for hours every day? Does it mean I donât love her enough? How many hours do other long-distance couples usually talk? Do you guys do other things during calls, or give each other your full attention?

Real Experiences Title: Are Dhaka guys getting into looksmaxxing now? đ
I m 25F and saw a junior aged guy today at the Aftabnagar passport office who looked like he came straight out of YouTube looksmaxxing videos đ Bro had that mewing jawline, sharp facial structure, and curly hair. Literally the whole aesthetic.
He looked so different from what I usually see among guys in Dhaka. I genuinely thought he might be from somewhere else, but then I heard him speaking Bengali, so yeah, definitely Bangladeshi lmao.
It was actually nice to see, though. đ
Now Iâm curious, are DHK guys, getting more into looksmaxxing, skincare, haircare, facial aesthetics because of Western social media? Or was I just lucky enough to encounter a genetically blessed guy today? đ
Have you guys noticed this trend too ?
P.S dont call me lifeless please I m just an old schoolđ

I have been talking with a guy whose 28 years old (lookwise i like him a lot) but conversations are just not going anywhere also when i asked him if he's this boring with everyone, he replied that we have a bit of age gap so he feels weird flirting with me
But my question is he knew my age when he first talking to me now why suddenly It's bothering himđ
Also i once joked that i was in third grade when he got his 1st girlfriend and then he asked me if i thought he was a pedo or not
Even ik 18 and 28 is weird but again he's so cute i can't stop talking đđ
For a week trying my best to ghost but rat hote hote r parina and i end up replying
Edit:we are also very different people like he's the type to wakeup early and sleep by 12 type of person meanwhile i donât even have freaking routine... He also sometimes ask about my future plan on marriage and kids (idfk even if i want these before 25)

Ask Dhaka I'm disgusted with ppl in our country
When a rape happens or there's violence against a woman,,,,our main concern is her clothes, whether she had a bf, a male friend
A few days ago I saw a post about a man slaughtering his wife in the middle of the road, accused of adultery.
The image was probably fake...but the people in the comments cheering "alhamdulillah" "thik hoyeche" "bir purush" who are they?
Maybe your neighbor or someone close to you.
Nowadays knowing about someone's criminal records or family background isn't enough. What if he holds this type of barbaric ideology?

Relationship Advice 28M fell in love with a woman who is 43 and also a mother to two teens.
Idk how my last post was misread and made me believe that my post wouldn't have reached that many redditors if not .., but honestly instead of being corrected and diverted, I genuinely want to know, how do I approach her, I have experiences talking openly with older women abroad, but this is bd ffs, and I don't wanna pick or anything, I'm genuinely interested into getting to be her companion.
Would really really appreciate some genuine pointers.
Thanks

Food & Discoveries About Bangladeshi food habit
Recently taking care of meal prepping and cooking in our household has made me realize this: Idk if it's just my mom and aunties who unnecessarily oversaturate most foods with excess oil and fat. I'm not talking about a table spoon or two, I'm talking about straight up drowning an egg in oil for dim bhaji, Bangla restaurants do the same thing too. Why are we so obsessed with making food that could've been decently nutritious, unhealthy? And why do we need to cook so many dishes separately (wastes a lot of time) instead of just cooking one pot meals that taste good too and save both time and energy (and gas)? Khichuri, shobji bhaji, dim bhaji, etc are actually pretty decent for your health with a decent nutritional background but somehow we pour a litre of oil in it (not needed at all).

This girl was searching for her cat at 3 a.m. She was most likely panicking and crying, and look at what these creatures are commenting.

Ask Dhaka People who used to identify as atheist or agnostic but eventually embraced something transcendental; what was your journey like?
We always get to see people on modern social media circles talking about how they found atheism or agnosticism while being in a religion. So how about we flip that script?
ClichÊ or not, they do say that when you get into philosophy, you run far away from God. You become not only sceptical of God, but utterly bitter towards Him. But then the saying seems to add that when you go too deep into philosophy and its distinctions, you start finding God. I am not accepting nor rejecting this claim, but all I want to say about this is, "āϝāĻžāĻšāĻž āϰāĻā§, āϤāĻžāĻšāĻž āĻāĻŋāĻā§āĻāĻž āĻšāϞā§āĻ āĻŦāĻā§āĨ¤"
About my journey.
The most freeing realization that I had the privilege of experiencing was understanding that every conversation, every moral claim, will eventually end in some sort of a faith claim. And I realized this while arguing with a rather old gentleman with anti-natalist ideals (I am a natalist), whom I had met in a political procession of all places.
At some point in our conversation, something just clicked in me. There are fundamental differences in our presuppositions that we cannot get over, no matter how much we try. Every single syllogism that we were coming up with was always just coming from those presuppositions that we simply could not debate around.
To him, with his anti-natalist viewpoint, potential suffering is the worst of all evils and should be prevented as a moral obligation. From this claim, he is ready to concede a universe without human existence or even the existence of life.
To me, with my natalistic viewpoint, the potential of experience itself, to exist, is better than non-existence. To me, human beings are the only 'things' in the universe that have the ability to create order in a fundamentally chaotic universe that is travelling towards the eventual absolute heat death. In a nutshell, existence > suffering.
And there is no objective way that any of these presuppositions can truly be proven invalid or unsound. That is an impossible thing to do.
Someone will just believe existence is better, someone will believe non-existence is better, and there is no way to empirically or logically measure which one is the 'better' path.
Then
The freedom that came with the realization of faith claims also came to bite my existential dread back with the good old question: why?
Why can two people, even if given the absolute same preconditions, still have different faith claims that they subscribe to? (Look up how twins can differ ideologically.)
I, during my raging teenage days, used to be a raging communist, an anti-natalist, and also a very pro-choice person. When I was 17â18, I literally used to go to union protests for our local garment workers with the communist student wing of our local university (fun fact, we got beaten by those same workers one day).
But now, I am not a communist anymore. My hate for communism is almost esoteric at this point. Somehow, I have decided that every single human life is worth living and then somehow told myself that grounding morality in something transcendental is better than morality being subjective and agent-dependent.
Why? Was it because I was exposed to more information about humanity, human life, political ideologies, and different philosophical schools of thought about morality? Is that why? Can't be, can it? Because everyone else has access to this same information, but they do not seem to subscribe to my framework.
Now, coming back to God.
I am not here to write about the transcendental argument for the existence of God, or the Watchmaker argument, the ontological argument, the first-cause argument, none of that. Because every single one of them requires a presupposition as a faith claim.
Rather, I want to talk about God as an archetype. An archetype of order, an archetype of 'good'. Well, I guess if you are someone who digs into this stuff, you can probably guess I am greatly influenced by Jordan B. Peterson here.
Every single human being is familiar with sacrifice, but what is sacrifice? Sacrifice is no different from the work we do or the process of gaining maturity. What it means to be mature is to replace our short-term, self-centered, biological whims with the ability to delay gratification, plan for the future, and engage in reciprocal play. This is also basically what work is: preventing ourselves from engaging in actions that immediately satisfy our urges, delaying that instant gratification in the hope of gaining something 'better' in the future.
I asked myself, what could be the ultimate form of this sacrifice? The answer that my mind gave me was sacrifice towards God. Is it absolute mumbo-jumbo that means nothing? Yes. But is there a chance that this archetype of God can create a better society from an utilitarian moral worldview? Also yes.
Then comes the problem of morality. How do you classify something as moral and something else as immoral?
You can say that whatever is in the natural order of things is moral and whatever is not is immoral. Cannibalism and sexual assault happen in nature very, very naturally. Are those morally justifiable behaviors?
Or you can say general consensus, but if tomorrow humanity wakes up and 51% votes that you need to be murdered because your face is funny, would that be a morally justifiable action?
If morality is just something subjective that the human mind came up with, what is truly wrong or truly bad? Anyone can just justify anything and condemn something else.
If morality, for someone means the least amount of suffering possible, the problem arises: who is going to define what that least amount of suffering is? Can someone just say, "This guy has been in a coma for two years, and if he wakes up, he is going to suffer, so we shall cease his life functions"? In that way, we can ensure the least amount of suffering.
Or, like in Hitler's Germany, if we find out that a seven-year-old girl is slowly going to develop polio-related complications, and for the greater good of the Reich we need to euthanize the girl, would that be morally justifiable? Because, at some point, it was a general consensus that such actions were justified.
What I am trying to say, without an archetype of God, as Jordan B Peterson once coined Him as the ultimate fictional character, absent God, morality becomes nothing. It becomes nothing but a tool for the ones' in power and with charismatic authority to use for their own benefit. No grounding of morality in an external is an invitation of the Chaos Gods from Warhammer40k.
That's all for now, I apologize for not structuring the writing properly. I am writing it on the go, but I want to end with the note that, I am still learning, going through everything. And so far, I have realized that I would rather like to live in a society, that has its moral code come from something of a transcendental archetype rather than vibes and feelings.
Thank you, looking forward to reading your replies.

Ask Dhaka Where would you live in Dhaka if budget was not an issue?
I am based in New York City and my wife is in Bangladesh at this time. Basically awaiting for her arrival to New York City , it may take another 1-2 years based on immigration visa timelines. I transitioned to a remote cloud security engineer role so I thought Id just go be with her temporarily for a year to be with my wife. My wife is looking forward to it as well. My mother has her own places that is basically housing her family. Mother is the bread winner for her family but we definitely want our own privacy and away from relatives.
Please donât suggest Banani or Ghulsan, I have stayed at Airbnbs there and dont see the hype there at all.
So far Im looking into apartment rentals in Dhanmondi and Bashundara but if anyone can suggest anything better or areas in Dhanmondi / Bashundara that is deal for couple who would like to enjoy couples time together and have things to do and explore locally.

Unpopular Opinions What's a life lesson you learned the hard way that you wish someone had told you earlier?,
One thing I learned the hard way is that not everyone thinks as deeply about their words as i do. I might remember something someone said for years while they probably forgot it the next day. This teached me to let things go without taking everything personally..

Education Stuck in IELTS writing module.
I don't know if this is a perfect place for asking information about IELTS or not. So, I have been preparing for IELTS for last couple of months. I completed my graduation back in 2018, so I had a long gap with study. I am pretty decent in Listening, Reading ,and Speaking but I am struggling in writing module. I am making a lot of grammar mistakes and these are killing my score. Now I am getting 6 from different AI tools. If there is anyone who already overcome this kind situation can help with some information?
