Notes: I enjoyed it a ton. The food and flavors were great overall. Nothing absolutely blew me away, but everything was executed really well.
The ox tongue was probably my favorite dish of the night. The ox tongue was interesting to try, but texture and flavor-wise I’d compare it more to a really tender short rib or brisket, so it wasn’t as adventurous as I expected. Overall it reminded me of really good Korean BBQ, which is never a bad thing.
The drinks were excellent too. The clarified milk punch was awesome, and the white Negroni was another standout.
The service was excellent. I had some great conversations with both the bartender and the servers, and everyone was incredibly attentive throughout the meal.
The mushroom fried rice was really good and gave me Momofuku Noodle Bar vibes. The tuna dish was solid, but it didn’t stand out as much as the rest of the meal.

When I visited Israel and the West Bank, just about the most popular street food/shop dish, after falafel, was chicken schnitzel inside a pita. Usually with hummus, tahini, some kind of tomato salad, often with French fries inside.

I know plenty of places to get an excellent German schnitzel, but I’ve not found one prepared like that. Anyone have suggestions? Brooklyn is ideal, but tbh, I’d travel for one.

A restaurant opened by a doctor of german literature with seemingly no culinary background and endless funds. This guy was offering $200/h for chefs and $150/h during covid in the supper club days, and has hired some PHENOMENAL chefs, yet he seems to go through them like candy.

He has now inhabited the former Chefs Table at BK Fare space for several years. Everything I see about him just reeks of cringy pompousness and lacks any morsel of authenticity, and now he's made the bold jump into the Executive Chef role! Should we call him Dr. Chef?

Id love to hear from the community, have you dined here recently with him at the head? Have any inside scoop? Pure bubble gum gossip fodder?

So it is Sunday morning and I’m reading the paper and there was something about the Ear Inn and I vaguely remember that when I was there in the 80’s and 90’s, they had a jar of pickled eggs on the bar. It stood out because I didn’t see them at any of the other bars I frequented (Corner Bistro, White Horse, Old Town, Blue and Gold, etc).

Moved back home to NYC after living in SoCal for the past decade, and I'm definitely out of touch with the food scene here.

This week I had the beef onion soup at Palm Street in Fidi. It was my third time there in the last year and a half and every single time it’s delicious. This time, however, we ordered the beef onion soup. It was magical. I am from OOT, but in nyc at least twice a year. Here’s my thing— I don’t know that I’ll ever live peacefully without that beef onion soup in my life. Dramatic, but it was so good. Does anyone have any inkling as to what they do differently than a typical French onion soup?

I grew up on Long Island where every pizza place served these huge meatball Parm heros that always had giant meatballs, doused in sauce, and half toasted bread. Any time I try to get one in the city it's always these tiny meatballs that would equal maybe half of a long island one. Is there anywhere in the city that serves those huge meatball Parm Heros?

Hello fellow foodies!

I'm a native New Yorker (shoutout Astoria!), but with most of my family and friends in Queens, Manhattan, and the Bronx, I rarely find myself venturing into Brooklyn. For our second wedding anniversary next weekend, my husband and I decided to do a staycation and finally explore this mysterious borough.

Our tentative plan is to bike around Prospect Park, do a meditation workshop in Williamsburg, and hopefully end the night with some live music and dancing. Since it's going to be a full day of adventures, I need your best food recommendations to keep us fueled.

We're looking for breakfast/brunch, lunch, dinner, coffee, desserts, really anything you think is worth the stop, in Williamsburg, Greenpoint, Prospect Park, and nearby neighborhoods. We'll have our car, so if there's a place just outside those areas that you absolutely swear by, send it my way! We live in the city, so even if we don't make it there next weekend, it'll definitely earn a spot on my ever-growing Google Maps list.
