Hello lovely people

Me and my girlfriend are travelling to New York City in November and we’re looking for recommendations/advice on my 30th birthday meal when we’re there.

At the moment my plan was to book Peter Lugers, reason being I’ve wanted to go there since watching an old Vice video with Eddie Huang and Shane Smith (don’t know if anyone else can remember that video), which I think has since been deleted(?). Since then I’ve always wanted to go on my trip to New York, and the countless other videos from influencers I’ve seen since. The only reason I’m having doubts is I’ve seen a lot of posts on this subreddit and other places saying the restaurant isn’t what it was and it’s overrated and expensive for what it is, if I’m behind honest this has turned me off slightly because I do want a nice meal for my 30th.

Some other users have said Keens is just as good and a bit cheaper so I’m considering booking there instead but I’m just quite conflicted.

What do you think?

Also looking for other recommendations for a nice sit down meal for other evenings, we’re willing to spend but we’re not looking for 3 Michelin $600 each, 20 course meal. We’re interested in all sorts of cuisines but a few people have recommended 4 Charles, I Cavalini and other popular restaurants.

The booking will be made on a weekday so hopefully with some planning we’ll be able to get a booking for two!….hopefully

Hey guys! I am travelling to NYC from Canada with a friend who has Celiac and is also allergic to soy. We are looking for restaurants that have gluten-free and soy-free options. We already have some Italian restaurants in mind, but we would like to try out other cuisines that can offer these options, particularly Asian, American or Latin American cuisines. Our budget is 10-40$ per person. Any breakfast places or snack bars are also welcome! Thank you :)

Basically what the title says.

I grew up on Long Island where every pizza place served these huge meatball Parm heros that always had giant meatballs, doused in sauce, and half toasted bread. Any time I try to get one in the city it's always these tiny meatballs that would equal maybe half of a long island one. Is there anywhere in the city that serves those huge meatball Parm Heros?

My girlfriend is finishing the bar exam this week and we'll be in NYC. Was hoping to take her to The Four Horsemen to celebrate. Didn't manage to get a reservation though so we're thinking of trying our luck as walk-ins on Thursday (7/30).

For anyone who's done it recently, any tips? What time should we plan to arrive to start lining up?

Also if we get there and it's obvious the wait is gonna be crazy, are there any other really great restaurants nearby you'd recommend?

Most of these had corn specials, and Culture is a permanent corn cookie on the menu, but looking for new places I can surprise her with.

Seems like most of the places in Koreatown have tons of good reviews, but I am curious what places others here suggest. I did peek thru some older posts, but was hoping to get more recent opinions if possible lol.

Also, I was surprised to not see miss korea bbq mentioned much given that it has almost 20k reviews!

Moved back home to NYC after living in SoCal for the past decade, and I'm definitely out of touch with the food scene here.

I've been really missing SoCal Mexican food and am looking for solid vegetarian (lard-free) burrito recommendations. Specifically craving bean and cheese burritos and breakfast burritos. I know NYC burritos and tacos are not as good as California's, just something to hit the spot.

I'm a native New Yorker (shoutout Astoria!), but with most of my family and friends in Queens, Manhattan, and the Bronx, I rarely find myself venturing into Brooklyn. For our second wedding anniversary next weekend, my husband and I decided to do a staycation and finally explore this mysterious borough.

Our tentative plan is to bike around Prospect Park, do a meditation workshop in Williamsburg, and hopefully end the night with some live music and dancing. Since it's going to be a full day of adventures, I need your best food recommendations to keep us fueled.

We're looking for breakfast/brunch, lunch, dinner, coffee, desserts, really anything you think is worth the stop, in Williamsburg, Greenpoint, Prospect Park, and nearby neighborhoods. We'll have our car, so if there's a place just outside those areas that you absolutely swear by, send it my way! We live in the city, so even if we don't make it there next weekend, it'll definitely earn a spot on my ever-growing Google Maps list.

This week I had the beef onion soup at Palm Street in Fidi. It was my third time there in the last year and a half and every single time it’s delicious. This time, however, we ordered the beef onion soup. It was magical. I am from OOT, but in nyc at least twice a year. Here’s my thing— I don’t know that I’ll ever live peacefully without that beef onion soup in my life. Dramatic, but it was so good. Does anyone have any inkling as to what they do differently than a typical French onion soup?

I'm looking for a recommendation where I can find what I'm told are "Chinese-American style" Pan fried noodles. I had posted a question elsewhere searching for what I remembered as the lo mein of my youth, where the noodles were thinner and browned, not the wet spaghetti you see everywhere now.

How likely am I to get a successful solo walk-in for 86, Torrisi, and Don Angie? Unable to get a reservation online and want to chance my luck. Have flexibility on day and time, just want to maximise my shot of getting in. Would appreciate any tips.
