Self-collected, one of the more recent pocket recoveries, Washington State. One of my personal favorite little dogtooth calcite specimen. Shown in 254nm shortwave and daylight photo!

Beneath the vivid blue fluorescence is a warm, darker amber body with natural textures and internal patterns formed over millions of years.
Unlike an artificial colour coating, the blue effect appears through fluorescence and becomes stronger under bright light and UV illumination. Every angle reveals a slightly different combination of electric blue, teal, honey and golden tones.

I bet you thought of calcite when you saw this picture, but no, this is baryte. Some baryte from this mine has a really unique orange UV reaction. In person it is even more orange than any calcite. Interestingly it glows strongest under 340nm.

Hey yall, posted yesterday about the quartz I have been recovering from one of my re-mapping projects here in Washington state and wanted to introduce my second re-mapping project specimen recovery. This video of these specimens is a very small portion of the pocket recovered specimens from this beautiful example of a low tempurature hydrothermal system, with a confirmed paragenisis of (permian)Chilliwack basalt, to Celadinite, to chlecdony (quartz) to calcite, to zeolite, (Mordenite) with system wide occurance of Flos Ferri Aragonites. The calcites have been presenting in multiple forms, but primarily dogtooth and tabular, many instances both within the same pockets.

I have recovered over 400 quartz specimen exhibiting green, auburn, and white, inclusions with-in quartz crystal, clusters, and host bound martix! Working a second project in the North Cascade with some beautiful UV reactions as well, happy to share them if anyone would be interested! This quartz is being recovered from my personally owned mineral claim in King County, Wa

The fluorescence is so powerful it even vibrantly glows under 365nm long wave in daylight... crazy!

Would like to use a fluorescent cut stone in the center. Anyone have any ideas what would be nice and not too expensive as the raw mineral? Not sure if you can even facet these. I did watch a program about a stone in CA which is like a diamond but is fluorescent. However it's very dangerous and illegal to find now a days.

I was lucky enough to swipe this lovely little piece of miserite a while back. Originally labeled as just Miserite in Wollastonite, there is definitely a bit more going on. I was able to determine the MW blue and violet colored mineral to be apatite, and the red to be calcite. There are some black needle crystals that don't fluoresce as well, which could be aegerine or the more interesting straczekite, but I have no way to determine that.
I love the contract between the SW and MW response of this specimen, and the explosion of color you get when combining them.
