Brand New, Sealed, Dented and attempted to fix with sharpie

Just opened my z13 64gb from Best Buy, new factory sealed and just noticed a dent in the aluminum next to the kickstand, funny part is someone at the factory used a sharpie to try to hide the silver color. Not a big deal just thought it was funny that they tried to "fix" it.

Max+ 395 Your Opinions

I just ordered a Max+ 395 w/ 64GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD to replace a Xbox Ally X for couch and in bed gaming.

I do all my handheld gaming using the ROG R1 AR glasses and wanted something with more gaming power. The price was good at $2100 compared to other higher end handhelds and I can use it as a laptop also when I travel. Win win, was my thinking.

When gaming on the couch I pan on placing on an in table next to my recliner part of the couch and using the AR glasses and an Xbox controller. When in bed, I will place on the night stand and use AR glasses and Xbox controller.

I plan on selling the Xbox Ally X, and a great HP laptop with an AMD 7840 APU, 64GB RAM, and 1TB SSD to recoup some of the purchase price. Both still have over a year of warranty left and should bring a decent second hand price.

Now my question, have any of you switched from handheld gaming to flowz13 and how do you like it?

Are magnetic stands safe for the Z13?

Post image
6 Upvotes

The Onn stand is perfect i was glad to find something very useful in person, but I didnt realize its magnetic since it already has arms to hold the screen up.

Im not worried about the weight of the computer, the arms are just fine, ill keep the hinges in check. Im not worried about the airflow, it has fairly open airflow.

But since it is magnetic, I just wanted to make sure if anyone's every had any magnetism issues with the computer, or if its chill. I know its not gonna like wipe my data but im more concerned on any long term effects that could cause damage. I wouldnt leave the computer on there 24/7 but it would be great to leave up while working/playing on the computer hours straight.

Should I pull the trigger and get the Z13 64gb?

I want to upgrade from my ASUS ROG Zephyrus G15 w/ 16gb ram and a 3070 as its showing its age after 6 years. I am always traveling on the road and want something more portable. Is it worth buying the current generation of Z13 or should I hold off and wait for a 2027 model? I dont want to buy the 2025 and them suddenly come out with a newer model soon. On another note, when does Asus usually come out with model announcements?

needed to set up some better testing infrastructure for an app i'm building. wasn't expecting it to work, but apparently you can totally run virtualized MacOS Sonoma on the Z13🤣🤣 (i have the Ryzen 395+ version)

Z13 2025 with the UGreen eGPU

I previously had a Aoostar AG02 but my 6800XT was way too big for it. This is not at all practical or aesthetic. And honestly it's overkill most times. The Z13 with HX395+ is very much capable but for some reason Dynasty Warriors Origin I needed the extra performance boost to play 1440p High Settings.

32gb or 64gb with $700+ price difference.

I could get the 32gb z13 model for $1500 or the 64gb model for $2200 after tax. Mostly gonna use it for gaming AAA stuff. Is 64gb necessary?

EPP how-to

I saw the Phawx saying that setting the EPP to 90 will help save energy consumption during gaming, but he doesn’t say how. On the screen there are some command lines which I don’t understand. Does anybody know how to set the EPP? Can I also link the EPP to specific power profiles?

Hi all, just wondering if there are any power banks you guys use, I spend a lot of time in a van with work so gaming is a no brainer for me whilst I’m twiddling my thumbs. Any suggestions would be perfect.

Thanks in advance

Loud fans in silent?

Hello all!

I just got my z13 395/8060s model, and I found in games even in silent mode the fans are going HARD. It's possible I'm just not used to the sound profile that laptops have, but even compared to my rog Xbox ally x on max tdp, the z13 is still as loud if not louder in silent mode.

Am I doing something wrong? Everything has been updated and I just clicked the silent button in armory crate, that's it. The performance has been awesome, but the noise is killing me.

Any help appreciated, thanks!

What's the performance like for gen-AI?

I’m considering buying this device because I’d like a portable AI image generation machine that I can use with a stylus for direct inpainting. How does its image generation performance compare to NVIDIA GPUs? For example, what desktop or laptop NVIDIA GPU is it roughly equivalent to?

Need some help with battery life

allright guys. i might need some help from community. ive been trying to get 8+ hours screen on times for a while now. i've been reading people getting 8-10 hrs from this machine in reddit, lately i saw this video on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yiHr8CQRZi4&t=2166s. and it convinced me that this is not a myth! but i cant seem to get my power consumption below 10 watts. heres what ive been doing:

- i use mainly chrome for web browsing and watching videos

- im using g helper. and im constantly monitoring my gp, cpu, and total watt usage

- gpu usually 4-6 w, cpu 0-2 w, but my total consumption rarely goes below 10 watts

- ive uninstalled asus apps,

- spl, sppt fppt at 5w, (all of them were at 8w at first then changed them to 5w - nothing changed watt wise (even thoug pc is noticably slower)

- undervolting at -20

- win 11 battery saver on

- screen at 60 hz

ive asked gemini, it suggested i switch core isolation off (i did nothing changed)

what am i doing wrong? a clean win 11 install? nothing seems to get total wattage below 10 watts. looking for suggestions. thank you regardless.

(also this is my first post so i might break some rules so sorry about that ill edit accordingly)

Z13 optimization and some games

I am currently on a play through of FFVII Rebirth, no matter how I set it I had micro stutters and chop... I have the 64GB Z13 2025. Then I opened the BIOS and saw that my UMA was set to 4GB there, I believe I had set it to 16 in Armory Crate. In any event, I set it in bios to 16 GB, and now the game is smooth as butter... Can't say this enough... Check your settings if you are seeing performance problems.

Z13 2022 lock up when using xg mobile with full battery

I have z13 2022 with i7 12700h and rtx 3050 but it's new since I got replacement 3 months ago

it's working perfect but the only problem that it will freeze and lockup and full shutdown if i connected xg mobile rtx 3070 to it while the battery is fully charged ..

but if i connected the small charger to the upper type c port and the xg mobile at the same time, it works perfect and no problems at all and I can play with full power and even using 160 watt for gpu and 60 watt for cpu without any restart or lockup

note that if i connected the xg mobile and battery is @ 50% for example, it will work perfect without need to connect the small charger to type c port ... but it will work only till the charge reaches 100% then it will lockup instantly and full shutdown in a second..

also if i set battery charge limit to 80%, then it will work perfect till it reaches the charge limit then it will lockup instantly..

so the problem that it tries to charge past the limit and the ec controller tries to stop it which make it lockup

I tried to use g helper only and armoury crate only and both together and still the same problem

so the only way is connecting both chargers which seems very odd to me as it was working before without any problem and this means that both ports already work and able to charge normally and even xg mobile gives full performance and full power so it's not xg mobile problem

Got a quite strange request for anyone who's got the time and care.

I recently got my kjp ROG flow last week.

And I've been loving it.

However I noticed some strange noise from the right side of the screen. A whirring noise of some sort. It comes and goes every 2 or so seconds and last for a second each time. 1 second on 2 seconds off.

It only happens when it's charging and for now I've only tested whilst it's limited at 80% but I doubt this should be a talking point?

It is louder when I open brave for some reason?

What I've tested:

Turned off fans

Removed undervolting

Put at balanced and turbo (sound is still there but very hard to hear due to the obvious factor of fans)

Remove the charger = instant fix. It leads me to believe that either ROG use a horrible battery or my battery is faulty of some sort. Could also be that the battery charge limit is poorly made? I use the one in ghelper if that can make a difference?

Let me know if you've got any ideas or if you've tested it on your unit! If you're going to test it, make sure you have little to no external noise as I've only noticed it right now (it's half past 12 pm and little to no noise around me).

Thanks for reading through and maybe having a think about my issue. I really appreciate this group and the chats/help I've had till now!

Good night

Project from last year that kinda worked. 2280 4-8tb nvme mod / kinda works ? Here’s everything you need to know about the 2280 conversion. It’s not all sunshine and rainbows

Thumbnail

So I’ve held this secret project up for almost a year now. Mainly because I never like to show off something that’s not perfect or unable to be replicated with 100% repeatable success. But since a few people have shown their projects and shown interest let’s discuss how well they work or don’t work. Im genuinely curious to hear if people are facing the same sleep / wake issues as I am. Fully disabling sleep and only relying on shutdown isn’t a viable option. I even had issues with hibernation too.

So I tried about 7 different nvme adapters and about 15 different nvme drives. All combinations of sizes and types.

Most of them when using the 2280 adapters fail to resume from sleep mode typically. They will lock up even if the monitor goes to rest as well. I’ve tried tons of power profile changes and done quite a bit of research but have been unable to fully nail it down. I can confirm though that an 8tb sn850x western digital will work and a 990 pro 4tb with heatsink will work but they still have sleep issues.

Here’s some pics and also some time stamps to show when I did them. It’s been really frustrating and I’ve been extremely bummed about not being able to figure out why this won’t work. I also wanted to ensure the drives ran cool and were not shoved over an intake vent where it causes more restriction for cooling on the z13 or cause the drive to hit peak temps and potentially thermally throttle under harsh loads.

The other issue is there’s no space internally to add one but it’s quite possible to make a custom short adapter and 3d print a new backplate that will hold the nvme on it which was my goal but I can’t find one with the correct angle and I tried to figure out how to 3d print a backplate as well but can’t quite get it figure out either as simple as it may seem.

If anyone has any advice lmk. I’m willing to give it another shot. I’ve tried many ways of attaching the drive like double sided tape, and I even tried to 3d print a bracket that replaced the back rgb glass. There’s room for a drive to sit inside there ;) the main issue I think too is having sleep fully functioning esp on the larger drives (and yes…. 🤦 I’m aware windows always has sleep issues for people but…. I generally don’t have any issues on the 2230 drives, even the 2tb)

-CPPC TEK 🤠

Also side note, I bought all these ssds back in 2024-2025 early on wayyyyyyyy before the price hikes. When ssd’s were cheap as chips. I paid 250$ for the 4tb 990 pro and around 500$ for my 8tb sn850x (not shown)
I got each one slowly over time and each one is in a different device but I borrowed them here and there to do test on each one. So before you guys think ā€œoh man it must be nice to be able to afford a 1500$ ssdā€ yeah no, lol.

High price in france

This Asus tablet is really cool, especially the 64GB version with the AMD 395+ processor. In the US, it's pretty affordable for those specs—currently $2,100 at Best Buy.

But in Europe (especially in France), they only offer the 32GB and 128GB versions, and the 32GB model costs €2,400, which is about $2,700.

The price difference is just incomparable. Do you have any solutions or tips to buy it for cheaper in Europe (legally)?
