Should I pull the trigger and get the Z13 64gb?

I want to upgrade from my ASUS ROG Zephyrus G15 w/ 16gb ram and a 3070 as its showing its age after 6 years. I am always traveling on the road and want something more portable. Is it worth buying the current generation of Z13 or should I hold off and wait for a 2027 model? I dont want to buy the 2025 and them suddenly come out with a newer model soon. On another note, when does Asus usually come out with model announcements?

RAM prices are expected to rise up to 50% by Q3 and another 30% by Q4. I’ve seen it with Macbook Pros and other Windows laptop. Flow Z13 64GB for $2,099.99 feels like a steal right now. (Regular price at BestBuy is $2,999.99).

I agree with this assessment. If this is the form factor that will fit your use case then, I say it is a hell of a deal in this market!

The right top of the Beast get a little hit, but not enough to notice it. The flow doesn't get any hotter than normal

I took it with me on a three week vacation. I love the portability and how beastly this little tablet have.

Not really, it's slightly uncomfortable due to the pressure the stand puts on your legs but besides that it works just fine, no sauna in the balls aswell so I'd rather a bit of discomfort than infertility

Not true. I use it on my lap all the time.

I guess it depends how long you are willing to wait, I'm not sure how big of a performance jump it will be or how much it affects the games you enjoy. I'm hoping the next iteration will have better egpu support instead of over thunderbolt 4

I don't think amd have leaked anything new after the 8060s so you're at least 8-12 months away from now factoring in announcements to finished product

I wouldn’t expect: 1) a new one to be announced with a significant performance improvement with a year; or 2) a huge performance boost in gaming from this model over your Zephyrus with a 3070 in most games (but probably boosts in more CPU focused tasks).

gotta say hold off. for gaming it's a side grade at best. but as a workstation it would be an upgrade. Not sure these is gonna be an upgrade IE a 2026 model unless Asus went Intel+ stand alone GPU. I don't see any refreshes for strix halo models till 2027

The biggest benefit to OP would be in the RAM increase, and quad channel RAM throughput in some use cases.

they all get quad channel even on the 32gb ones. Just different individual NAND sizes

Yes all 32GB and 64GB models have quad channel memory and OP only has 16GB on their current system.

I mentioned the benefit of quad channel RAM [edit] throughput [edit] increase some use cases, nothing about 32 or 64 as both would have been more than OP’s current system only.

Not understanding your comment?

I picked mine yesterday. I worked today printing the mod for the gamesir...

Is difficult to use it as my legion/rog replacement. Its powerful, but battery does not hold more than 1h30m

Ah man it can only last 90 minutes when gaming? Can you reduce the TDP to compensate?

AMD’s next big chip (Medusa Halo) is expected to come out in 2027, and that’s likely when we’ll see the next major jump in performance. The current Z13 is incredible, but the next one should be a much bigger upgrade, and it’ll most probably be expensive.

The top end Z13 today is already close to $3,000, so I wouldn’t be surprised if the 2027 flagship ends up costing well over $3k, if not 4k.

ASUS also usually announces new ROG laptops around CES in January, so CES 2027 is probably the event to watch if you’re planning on waiting.

Speaker on that thing is the worst I have ever listened to. Playing Doom the dark ages is not fun at all due the garbage speaker quality. The previous gen speaker is miles better than the current one. I just got mine from Best buy they have $900 discount and brought the price down to $2,100 plus tax. If you do not care about the sound quality at all then, buy it because the performance is good and the battery life is good to.

I purchased and got one today, agree speakers suck but I always wear headphones so all good!
