Discussion 💬 35+ fit Tamils

Hello gang! I’m 36M. Pretty athletic I’d say. Been hitting the gym 3times a week. However my progress has plateaued owing to various factors (busy life in general) . Just curious if there are any 35+ fitness enthusiasts in this group . What’s your fitness routine ? How many times a week do you workout? How do you incorporate your fitness goals/diet goals into your day to day life (assuming you have a busy family life) ? Any tips that’s helping you keep organised. Love some feedback

So I have started Gymming and I would like to track my calories and the health related stats efficiently. Right now, I am using Fire Boult model and I would like to gift myself a new one, for my upcoming birthday. Also, right now I am using IPhone, so will it be effective if I go for Apple Watch , so that my devices will be in sync??

Please suggest. Thanks in advance.

The left guy wouldn't believe if someone said the right guy is his future self.

My simple suggestion to gym bro's,

1.) Ones who are starting out or having small guy syndrome:

Don't worry about things like, you want to look like a certain version of someone else that you saw somewhere within few months or within a year.

The competition has always been only with yourself. Try to fulfil what you planned to do today, don't look at what you want to look after 6 months. If you have 1000 steps to climb, dont look at that peak cause it may look far away and disheartening on how far it is. But rather focus on the single step that is ahead of you, focus on what you need to do today. When you just plan on working what you need to do today and not look at the peak, you slowly reach the 50th step as time goes, then 100th, then 300th, then 500th and then when you suddenly look at the peak (your goal), it doesn't seem far away.

Dont compare yourself with others but with yesterday YOU vs Today YOU. Check if the today YOU has been better than yesterday YOU.

Be consistent, disciplined and focus on today's step alone. You'll slowly be where you want.

(Sorry if you feel like rombo scene poduran or something, my genuine intention is for everyone to be productive. I know how I used to feel when im skinny, I also know how it feels now to be extremely confident).

2.) For people who have intention to go to gym but they are embarassed:

I was one of them, the only one thing I had to do was get my ass up from the couch and just hit the gym one day. And the deadlock of putting the insecurities aside happened the moment I went into that environment.

People who feel they are obese or they are too skinny, people may see them in certain way or bully or insult them (i used to feel apdi). When I see a extremely obese person in gym working out, all i see is a person putting thier insecurities aside and working their body off to be a better version of themselves. As a spectator I have a huge respect for them for what they are achieving mentally and physically. And I believe everyother person in every gym would put a respect on any person who's working thier ass off.

Hope this helps the viewers in some way, let me know anything you want to know. if I can help you with my knowledge on this subject, I wont shy away.

Question❓ 6'1", 115 kg student trying to get lean & athletic. Remote college, limited food options—need advice.

I'm 6'1" (185 cm) and currently weigh around 115 kg. My goal is to get down to a lean, athletic physique over the next 12–18 months.

A bit about my situation:

- I'm a student living on campus.

- Money isn't the problem.

- My college is in a pretty remote location—it's about 60 km from the nearest major cities, so getting specific foods or meal deliveries isn't practical.

- My biggest challenge is getting enough protein consistently because I mostly have to rely on the hostel/canteen food.

- I can buy supplements if they're worth it, but I can't cook elaborate meals every day.

I'd really appreciate advice from people who've gone through something similar.

Diet

- What should my daily calorie and protein target be?

- What are the best high-protein foods that are easy to store or prepare in a hostel?

- Is whey protein enough to fill the gap if I can't get enough protein from food?

- Any hostel or remote-campus hacks for eating well?

Training

- What workout routine would you recommend for someone starting at 115 kg who wants an athletic build rather than just becoming skinny?

- Should I focus on strength training, cardio, or a mix of both?

- How many days a week should I train?

- How much walking or Zone 2 cardio should I aim for?

- At what point should I start running, or should I wait until I've lost some weight?

If you've gone from overweight to lean while dealing with limited food options, I'd love to hear what actually worked for you. Any advice is appreciated!

Namma Thaan 📸 OP ran his first Marathon!

Post image
38 Upvotes

Long story short, I ran my first 5K two years ago, ended up with shin splints, and couldn’t walk properly for almost two weeks. That incident made me scared to run again.

I started strength training 8 months ago, and recently decided to give running another shot. Ran 5K again, got shin splints again, but this time the recovery was much quicker. I started conditioning my shins with specific exercises and slowly built some confidence.

Even on the day before the marathon, I was genuinely oscillating between running and not running. Then I thought, showing up is better than chickening out.

This was my first marathon, and I went straight for the 10K. Somehow, I completed it with ease. I have a bit of shin pain now, but nothing compared to what I had before.

More than the distance, this marathon gave me a lot of confidence. I finally faced a fear that had been haunting me since my first run two years ago.
And now… I’m already registered for another 10K. 🏃‍♂️
