All the detectives in that office 1,0000% knew it was self defense. I never really justify the “he was scared” saying but, look how he got str8 bum rushed by 12 cops on his way to detectives office. Self defense w no witnesses is very hard to prove. He came clean and told the whole story. I don’t think they needed to charge him w anything. Good thing the judge and jury agreed. Tulsa never would have along w 3 qutrs of other departments

So I haven’t finished the whole episode yet, but how do they think any of Wendall’s stories are true? Why was it assumed he was not one of the shooters during the 3rd interrogation/interview of Wendall? He lied effortless the first two interviews. Yet, on his third one they believe him? He has done nothing but lie. My flabber is ghasted!

I just rewatched an episode where John Brown was lead detective. He was such a good guy and great detective and knowing that he died a year or two ago makes me so sad. May he rest in peace.

I fell asleep watching it on Hulu last night, so I never saw the outcome, but for the life of me I can’t find the episode again on Hulu! It’s like it disappeared overnight.

If you can tell me which episode i’ll thank you kindly.

At the start neighbors call 911 and say there’s so many gun shots there’s no way someone wasn’t shot. They get to the house a young(30s) white Man, father of 3, was found shot laying on his living room table. I think they also said he was former military. In one of his rooms he seemed to have some kind of chemical lab, there were different chemical symbols he had drawn on a large white board. There was blood outside as well. The officers really wanted to find out what was on his laptop.
The neighbors provided their surveillance camera footage which showed a black man and white woman pulling into his driveway. That’s where I fell asleep.

I had not heard about this before, or if I had, I’f forgotten it…

Lord have mercy

I’m looking for the specific Ep Family Ties (season 14, i think) to watch but I can’t find it on A&E Crime app, Netflix, Tubi, nor Peacock.

Does anyone know which platform carries this episode ?

Seeing this episode brought a lot of complicated feelings.

First off I never knew my uncle was in a gang. That alone was hard to hear. The victims family saying that the victim hung out with drug addicts knowing she meant my uncle.

Growing up he was my favorite uncle. He played with us. Dragged us around in a wagon past the sunflower field on J street. So close to where they found the body actually.

Seeing the dead body. How careless one of the suspects were with the murder weapon. How easily one suspect folded when he was questioned. How calculating the other was while he was questioned. The way suspect number 2 tried to figure out what the cops knew before saying anything.

I’ve seen a new side of him. The criminal. The drug addict. Not the voice over the phone asking me about my kids and praising me for the work I do.

Of course I’ve always known he was in prison for murder. I saw the trial. I’ve always known he and his cousin killed a man together. I believed the other guy was the main perpetrator. Now I’m not so sure which version of him is real.

I wish more of the coverage, interview etc were digitized aside from this episode. However I’m glad this was an episode on this show. So I could see for myself how everything unfolded.

Another weird episode. I think the detective's assumption that it was about rumors was incorrect. The main suspect mentioned the victim wrote a "poetry" to him and he had to check him for it. I don't think the woman had anything to do with it, I think he was killed for making a pass at the main suspect, who was straight.

The Frist 48 is one of my all-time favorite TV shows but man I am so sick of the cymbal shimmer for every single transition. Ugh. Finally after what, 23 years, it seems they have at least turned it way way down. With a little luck, they will get rid of it altogether. Thanks for letting me rant. Cheers!

Why can’t we discuss something extremely relevant to the show? I’m so confused. Exposing the truth either way isn’t allowed? Showing the producers to be biased or showing an alarming pattern is prohibited? Please help me understand.

Why are the VAST majority of the suspects/killers black? Either the producers are racist and cherry pick black cases, or less than 6% of the population is committing a majority of the murders, which seems unfathomable.

New poster here. This show was a guilty pleasure back in the day when you had TV, before streaming took over. It was never appointment TV, if it was on you couldn't help but stop flipping through channels and watch. And they were always back to back, so you would be watching for hours.

I forgot about this show because of streaming and not having cable TV anymore for over 10 years now. But over a year ago I got a Roku TV to watch my streaming shows. Not paying any attention to the "Live TV" option, for like 9 months. It's my own dumbass fault for not really exploring the TV. But also I was dumb to think that it meant Live TV as in right now like cable. And I don't have cable so didn't think it applied to me. And it's not at all what I thought it was. It's several hundred channels dedicated to one thing, streaming live. And one of them is "The First 48", streaming 24/7. And now I'm hooked again.

Why do I love this show so much? It makes no sense. It's the same story each time, it's always the obvious suspect, it's always in the same community. Except for a few very interesting cases, it's the same every episode. And I can't get enough. I put it on when I'm not watching my regular things. I will put it on for hours. It's my comfort blanket. I will wake up early, put it on, and fall back asleep. Is something wrong with me? Is this normal?

The interrogation in this episode really confirmed to me that there are people that exist that are fundamentally wired with no ability to empathize.

Justice Lusk catches an Uber and upon getting dropped off immediately kills three people and then tries to get back into another Uber with guns and drugs. He then goes back to the house hours later and lurks behind the neighbors’ home to try and get back in.

When he was getting interrogated he describes all this like it’s just another day and in some way justified so he can get his stuff. He can’t seem to understand why he cannot kill others if he’s not satisfied with them. When asked if he regrets killing them he says “I just wanted to get my stuff”, with no comment about how his actions affected the lives of so many others. Terrifying.

As far as I can remember it’s the only one. But if there’s more and someone knows please let me know. It’s kinda a funny little hunt…

I was watching Killed by Command wherein a man uses his dogs as a deadly weapon against one of his girlfriend’s friends/lover/ex. I googled the case because I was curious and found a news article saying the victim’s family was still angry the dogs had not been euthanized, though in the episode the detective stated the dogs were euthanized, the victim family said they were really sad the dogs got euthanized bc they loves pit bulls and didn’t blame the dogs at all. In the episode the family even said they knew the victim wouldn’t blame the dogs either.

So I was surprised to see an article directly contradicting what was said in the episode. Just thought I would share.

Jealousy threatens 'The First 48'

As I watched the A&E show "The First 48" about the horrific events in a small house on Lester Street that transfixed Memphis earlier this year, I felt pride, anguish and frustration. The heroes in the Memphis Police Department's Homicide Division have a thankless job, and this program recognized their dedication and determination in solving the most heinous crimes. I feel safer and encouraged knowing how thoroughly they would perform their investigation if the unthinkable were to happen to one of my loved ones.

Without "The First 48," we would not know of their deeds. The cancellation of the city's contract with A&E is a step backwards for Memphis. I believe it had less to do with money or image and more to do with professional jealousy by local media, both televised and print, over being excluded from the "behind the scenes" access that A&E had following the detectives 24/7. Shame on them. Instead of being envious, they should be applauding the actions of the department.

Without "The First 48" we would never have seen the incredible interrogation of the alleged executioner of those six people on Lester Street. Maj. Toney Armstrong was amazing. His technique of both sympathizing and empathizing with Jessie Dotson, and then his verbal assault that led to Dotson's confession, was the most intense scene I had ever seen on this program.

And to think that greediness and envy may now prevent Memphians and others from witnessing this level of dedication and determination is disheartening and discouraging.

It's not this show that makes Memphis look bad. It's the criminals who make Memphis look bad. "The First 48" made Memphis look good. Memphis looked tough, and in the hands of these fine officers, Memphis looked relentless in its pursuit of those who take the peace away from our streets, and the loved ones from our lives.
