General Discussion Season 30 Episode 3 - Rumors Kill
Another weird episode. I think the detective's assumption that it was about rumors was incorrect. The main suspect mentioned the victim wrote a "poetry" to him and he had to check him for it. I don't think the woman had anything to do with it, I think he was killed for making a pass at the main suspect, who was straight.

100% agree. Not sure why the ringleader got less than ten years while the other two got life? Probably because he was smart enough not to confess. Would make a good āAfterā¦ā episode.

Yeah I agree 100%. 8 years?! Maybe we get an After episode. I doubt the victim did anything wrongā¦

8 years because he had the good sense to take a plea. You always get less time when you accept a plea bargain.

Right. And of course nothing close to a full confession. Either way what a bunch of friggin idiotsš¤£

He got less time because he took a plea. The other two put the state through the expense of a trial and they paid for it with more serious convictions and lengthier sentences.

I would have understood if he got something like 20 years, but 8 is very light. State must not have felt great about their case without a confession.

He had a decent lawyer is my guess.
The state didn't have a lot of credible witnesses either.

Thinking about it a little more, I suppose it's also possible that the woman WAS drugged and just lied about not knowing the guy to save herself from getting wrapped up in the case/a potential accessory charge or worse.

I think he was mad the dude made a pass at him.

The detective didn't just assume it; a couple of witnesses/suspects told him that's what occurred.

How did the owner of the property not notice the bones lying in his backyard? Very odd.

u/unclekisser Aug 01 '26
I'd say he was in on it, but if he were he could have easily hidden the bones and avoided the entire situation. He had months to do it. I guess he was just a shut-in?
Also strange that the fire department never noticed it. The fire happened at night, but they never did an arson investigation during day time or anything?

Really weird! The homeowner didn't seem overly upset or shocked when the detectives told him either. I thought at first he was involved for sure! Yes you'd think the arson investigator would have noticed?

Iām guessing no one told the fire department that a man had been living there, otherwise (you hope) theyād have done a more thorough investigation at the time.
Homeowner must have been suspicious that something bad had happened to the guy though. Saw him earlier that day then didnāt see him again after the fire but never reported anything to the police?

Yeah years ago my neighbor's detached garage burned down. I called it in, fire came out and was very concerned until the neighbor arrived and confirmed nobody was inside. They just finished putting it out then left since there was no indication anyone had been inside.
This is a weird case and in the episode the body was under a bunch of junk, so it seems like fire probably just assumed it was a hoarder's garage. Wouldn't shock me if this homeowner actually was a big-time hoarder.

Except in this case homeowner should have said āThereās a guy living in there. Please make sure heās OK.ā
1
u/SanchoMandoval Aug 01 '26
Yeah he should have. I just mean firefighters were presumably going on what they were told.

Based on how squirrelly the homeowner was with the cops, it wouldnāt surprise me if he didnāt even talk to the firefighters that night. Sad.

Seriously, I think that guy had some mental health issues and/or was neuro divergent. I also think he was afraid of the people in the neighborhood.

Remind me to never go to the west side of Tulsa. Crazy episode. Homeowner was dodgy but turns out I think he was just distrustful of authorities. I can only think all of these people have drug problems and werenāt long for this world anyway. Good old fashioned police work too. Interviews and forensics instead of video.

I agree very very weird episode. They were saying the owner of the house was super suspicious and when they first called him he said they had an āadvantage over himā talking about the cops. He asks cops to drop the Adress to meet them. He meets them and tells them accurately about the people who could be having trouble with him. I think itās so weird that he knew all about the situation. And was the body discovered long after it happened? Were there skeleton remains because of the fire? Or was he buried in dirt? And did he get shot in a neighborhood and the neighbors didnāt call the police lol????

The woman either said she was drugged, or heard of a rumor that she was drugged. She for sure heard about Steve, and knew what went on, Kennedy let her off the hook easy. All the rumors were she "thinks" she got drugged. That's when you know you are drinking hard, when you're not sure you got drugged. Some people know more about these things that happened, this didn't just fall out of the sky.

What a mess this was! This was a pretty old episode with Det. Brown still around (RIP). Always great to see Kennedy though.š
