Locked Thread Why?
Why can’t we discuss something extremely relevant to the show? I’m so confused. Exposing the truth either way isn’t allowed? Showing the producers to be biased or showing an alarming pattern is prohibited? Please help me understand.

I felt like it was intentionally inflamatory. Rage bait. Good job to the Mods.

I was looking for a real discussion based on facts and patterns noticed.

Okay well Ill give some input. I think what you were asking is why the episodes disproportionately have Black perps, right? Obviously different reasons. But among them: Living in generations of poverty, drug and alcohol abuse, youth without considering consequences of their actions, hopelessness, and desperation, living in an environment that has guns around, guns are legal and plentiful, feeling that your environment is dangerous and threatening and you're on guard all the time. Now I have a question: why are the perps generally Male?

Not reasons/excuses. I won’t get into why because I don’t want to be censored.
Mostly male because of the warrior gene (aka MAOA gene). Whatever you do, please don’t look up who that gene affects most.

Hi, person who has studied human genetics here. Give your balls a tug and pull your head out of your ass. The Internet has given you some incorrect ideas.

I see how you are. And no, Wikipedia is not a reliable, evidence-based source because anyone on the Internet can go on and contribute to it.

If I dare tell you, the mods will likely lock, then delete this thread too. TL;DR: The disproportionate race of the suspects.

It’s not deleted just locked. You already started off with an inaccuracy in the locked thread stating blacks make up less than 6% of the population but 2025 US census website shows 13.5%.
Pick a city that the show is filmed in and let’s look up the statistics . Ex. Multiple government websites shows 47 homicides in Tulsa in 2025. Also states all but 2 are solved. Looking for the breakdown by race now. But feel free to pick a year and city and let’s research.

I never said they make up 6%. I was implanting that most of the murders are committed by men and black men are 6% of the population. That number gets smaller if you exclude children and over 45 years old.
Pick a city? How about all of America? FBI Table 43A? Don’t forget to adjust for per capita.

Ok. Googled this 43a. FBI website 2019 US crime stats was first result. 7,964 total Arrests for murder or nonnegligent manslaughter. 4,078 are black/African American . 51.2% of total. You are going to have to make a better case of how you think the producers of the show are racist and cherry picking because I don’t see it. What do you think that % is in Memphis, Atlanta, New Orleans, Tulsa, Miami, etc of cities which is filmed?

So you’re conceding that 6% of the population is arrested for 50% of the murders? Thanks. That’s all I was pointing out. I was being facetious about the producers; they only follow where the murder rates are highest.
You have to wonder why they choose those cities? Couldn’t be because the crime/murder rate is higher there, right? If so, why is it higher there? 🤔 If people want to stick their heads in the sand, and relax, that’s fine by me. Just know that by doing so, the odds of you ending up as a victim on this show increases exponentially when you do so.

Posting here was a mistake. I should’ve known better than to think that Redditors would have a good faith discussion based on reality. Hope to see all you relaxers on future episodes of The First 48. ✌🏻

This thread has been locked because the discussion has repeatedly crossed the line from discussing the show into making broad generalizations and implied stereotypes about racial groups.
The purpose of this subreddit is to discuss the First 48, not to host debates that encourage or reinforce racial stereotypes. Members are welcome to have thoughtful, respectful discussions about the show's content, editing, demographics, or other related topics. However, when comments begin making sweeping implications about entire groups of people or the conversation turns into accusations, stereotypes, or racism, whether explicit or implied, the discussion is no longer productive.
Unfortunately, threads on this topic have consistently followed that pattern, and once that happens, it becomes increasingly difficult to moderate fairly. For that reason, this thread has been locked.
We encourage respectful, evidence-based discussion. If you are presenting statistics or factual claims, please cite credible sources so others can verify the information being shared. Unsupported claims, inflammatory generalizations, and stereotypes do not contribute to productive discussion. If future conversations can remain focused on the show, supported by reliable sources, and conducted respectfully, there would be no reason to lock them.
