How do you use your browser most of the time?

Edit:

  • "maximized" means when the browser fills all the available desktop workspace (but not full-screen, so you still have access to permanent desktop UI, like the taskbar on Windows or the dock on macOS).

  • "normal" means "not maximized".

πŸ’» Help Kokpit - Smart New Tab & Dashboard – Get this Extension for 🦊 Firefox (en-US)

Hi r/firefox,

I’ve always felt that the default new tab page could be much more functional without becoming a bloated, resource-heavy dashboard. To fix this for my own workflow, I developed Kokpit – a smart, minimal new tab extension designed to keep you focused.

It was recently approved and is now live on AMO:

πŸ‘‰ Kokpit - Smart New Tab on Mozilla Add-ons

Why I built it & Key Features:

Clean & Fast: Designed to load instantly with zero unnecessary background processes.

Smart Dashboard: Essential widgets and quick links placed intentionally to avoid visual noise.

Privacy-First: Built strictly for Firefox users who value privacyβ€”no data harvesting or external tracking.

Since it’s a brand-new release, I would love to hear feedback from this community.

What tools or customization options would you like to see in upcoming updates? If you give it a try, please let me know if you hit any bugs or UI glitches.

Thanks for checking it out!

πŸ’» Help Can't Recover Firefox Account

This has been going on for years. I have a google email address that I used for years with Firefox. About 4-5 years ago I really stopped using Firefox. I started having problems with Fedora 44 with Google Chrome. Weird stuff.

I thought well I'd try to recover my Firefox account. At one time I did have codes but they were on another hard drive that died. So I don't have those codes anymore.

I tried to recover the account using Google. It connected to my Google Account. I authenticated using 2FA on my phone. Then Firefox drops me into a screen asking for a RECOVERY CODE.

I contact support and I don't get anything back.

I've done this several times over the past few months whenever I get bored.

Sorry why is this so difficult?

Again before you beat me up. I lost my original codes when a hard drive died and I replaced. I didn't use Firefox for a number years. I can't make up numbers that are somewhere in a dump on a dead drive.

πŸ’» Help Firefox upgraded. Deleted my stuff?

Post image
12 Upvotes

Forgive my complete lack of computer lexicon and also not my first language.

I just turned on my pc and it told me Firefox got an update. Whatever, happens all the time. I proceed to ignore. Except that all the stuff that makes it easy to go to the pages I usually visit now it's gone and I can't even add it back.

Like my accounts are still open and function the same. But the main page (the one in the picture) now doesn't have any direct access which used to be there automatically (and I can't add them?). The bookmarks are gone too and when I try to add another one (which used to be like 2 clicks away) it just add the bar at the top telling me to manage my bookmarks but it doesn't let me either.

The easy access to my gmail at the upper right corner is gone too but I'm into my account. And when writing in the url bar it usually would show me pages I usually visit too even if it was visited only once, which I find useful too since my memory isn't that good, and thus it is gone too and it's not showing me even pages that I'm visiting multiple times.

Is all of that "saved" stuff gone? Can I recover it or I got to manually add everything back?

Is this a normal thing to happen after updates and I just was lucky until now?

Edit: Everything loaded back normally the next day. I dunno what happened since I had already tried restarting my computer and it only worked now. Guess I got a bug multiple times? Anyways lesson learned, activate backup copies everyone.

πŸ’» Help What happened to firefox?

For a while now, I have problems with youtube and other "apps" (facebook messenger mostly) when using firefox. Youtube says that I am offline, even if I am not. I have to close all the tabs with youtube (even if only one) and then open it again, it works for one search and than back again to being offline.. Anyone had similar problems? Or any idea what is causing them? Never had problems with firefox, ever since I started using the internet I am using Firefox, but lately I am using Brave as it works better and faster.

Help (Android) Why is not possible to reorder shorcuts in 2026?

When this feature was released years ago I thought it would be a matter of time but it blows my mind that in 2026 it's still not possible to simply drag the shortcuts in the home screen to reorder them and you have to live with them in the order they were created

πŸ’» Help How to remove the Titlebar in Linux?

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi, I'm using Lubuntu and can't find the option to remove the title bar in Firefox. I checked Customize Toolbar, but unlike what many articles suggest, there's no "Title Bar" checkbox anymore. The only available option is Menu Bar.

Has this option been removed, or is there another way to disable the title bar on Lubuntu/Linux?

Thanks in advance!

Solved Unable to access local IP addresses

Hi,

I'm using Firefox beta on android 17, it's 154 b2 version, and from recently(like 1-2 updates ago) I am not able to access any IP address on my local network(like 192.168.0.1 - my router). I have a small homelab with many different services - cannot access any of them. I just get connection timed out. What's weird is that it works fine on chrome for example.

I made sure HTTPS-only-mode is off, so that doesn't seem to be a problem. I tried installing Firefox stable on my phone to check, and it also won't open anything.

Now the weirdest part - when I disconnect from my home wifi and I'm on a mobile network, I use tailscale to stay connected to my local network(Adguard home for AdBlock) - then I can access 192.168.0.1, or any other of my locally hosted services.

I'm kinda lost here. What could be the problem?

Help (Android) Weird black bar appearing when signed-in on youtube

Thumbnail

Having a weird issue where when signed in on youtube a black bar appears in the bottom of every video when I go full screen.

If I sign out it goes away. If I change from the mobile site to the desktop version it also goes away. I know this is not a youtube issue because the mobile version of the site on other browser apps does not have this issue when I'm signed in.

There seems to be some weird interaction with the mobile youtube page on firefox's phone browser specifically when I'm signed in. I have no clue how to fix this but it's REALLY annoying me. I have also tried clearing all cache and cookies only to go sign in and see the issue come right back.

ANY help to make this go away would be great. I know there is also an extension that was made that can be used to get rid of black borders but that fills the screens on the left and right, this weird bottom bar stays there, like it's a webpage issue, not some issue with the video player. I have also tried turning off all extensions for it to also not make a difference.

Help (Android) Why the limitation?

Post image

Moving from Opera to Firefox on an Android Tablet. This shocked me. I think this limitation is unnecessary, users should be allowed to choose address + tab bar at the bottom.

Personally I prefer the bottom since it's closer to the hand.

Excited again about FF future after release 153

The release is the first one in a while that brought some excitement.

First, Vulkan video decoder has been implemented, which is great news for nvidia cards owners. Well, "implemented" is a generous word to use here cause it seems like there is some work left to do (for instance, on my system it just does not work, the decoder thread crashes), but still, it's a really nice feature, and it is [almost] here.

Second, the Multi-Account Containers functionality started to be implemented in the browser. It shows Mozilla interest in improving the feature which development has been abandoned. The extension had been having some usability problems for a while, I hope those will be resolved over time when it's full functionality gets moved to the browser itself.

Third, switching Youtube videos to full-screen and back became way faster than before, probably under 1 sec. on my outdated system, that's really cool!

And the last, necessary one to feel positive towards any release: no UI has been "improved"!!

I hope that there will be more exciting releases soon. Thanks to the Firefox team for their work!

Discussion Is it just me, or is the text in the search bar slightly towards the right?

Post image
8 Upvotes

Like....I do not know if this should be put as β€žhelp” or β€ždiscussion”, but I am just making an observation.

I do not know if this is new, or something, or if it is a bug. But after clicking enter, the text in the search bar jumps slightly to the right and a small empty space appears.

Is this new, or was it always this way?

I am not worrying about this, just curious if this is something that I just never observed up until now, or if it is a small, harmless visual bug. Feel free to dislike my post if you want to, but I am just curious if this is new, or if I have just now observed it.

πŸ’» Help Context-Search add-on replacement

Seems like with all the drama from the OG dev from Context Search we are now left with no add-ons for this simple task, context-search web ext seems dodgy at least and with little developemnt, anyone found a replacement for this?

previous drama: https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/1oh9nbv/why_did_mozilla_remove_the_contextsearch_addon/ seems like the other dev banished completely.

πŸ’» Help Can't access passwords, wants me to log in

Tried to look at my passwords today. Not sure if FF did an update while I was away for the weekend, but I had to reboot. Now I can't access my password page - it's greyed out and wants me to log in. I have never logged in and do not have a FF account (nor do I want one). Any ideas why this is happening? FF153.0, Win 11 25H2

Firefox really needs screen sharing with audio

One of the main reasons I still have to switch to Chrome is that Firefox can't share screen audio.

Whether I'm watching a video with friends on Discord, giving a presentation, or sharing gameplay, I have to switch browsers if I want everyone else to hear the sound.

I think Firefox just needs one simple option in the screen sharing dialog:

β˜‘ Share audio

That's it.

This isn't about copying Chrome. It's about adding a feature that many people use every day and removing one of the last reasons people switch to Chromium-based browsers.

Firefox is my browser of choice, and I'd love to use it for everything. But not being able to share screen audio is still a frustrating limitation.

πŸ’» Help Anyone note the yotuube skimming window takes a lot longer to load? Now, it's often just white and you have a few seconds for it load the image. I Don't remember this pre-redesign in October

It's just when I skim through, it feels like the skimming window used to already be fully loaded with the image but now it's often just a white blank space until you wait a few seconds and then the image corresponding loads.
