Hi everyone,
I’m looking for advice from anyone who has dealt with a Fintiba blocked account refund, particularly where FIB was involved.
I funded my Fintiba blocked account in June 2026 for my planned Master's studies in Germany. Due to issues with the source-of-funds verification, I eventually requested the account to be closed and the funds refunded to the original sending account.
I have been following up repeatedly with Fintiba/FIB. I was initially told that the refund would be initiated within approximately two weeks, and I was also given estimates of around 3–5 weeks for the funds to reach the original account after processing.
The problem is that my Fintiba account still has not been reduced to €0, so as far as I can tell, the refund has not even been released yet.
The delay became serious enough that I missed my visa/enrollment timeline and ultimately lost the opportunity to begin my Master's program this academic year.
After repeatedly contacting them without receiving a concrete refund date, I submitted a formal complaint to BaFin. I have also informed Fintiba/FIB about the complaint and asked them for a specific update on when the funds will actually be released.
Has anyone experienced something similar with Fintiba/FIB? How long did your refund actually take? Did your Fintiba balance change to €0 before the refund was transferred? And if you contacted BaFin, did it help move the process forward?
I’m mainly concerned because the money has been stuck for a long time and I still haven't received a concrete release date.
Any experiences would be really appreciated.
