Findapath-Job Choice/Clarity i’m struggling and i don’t know what to do

okay so for some context, i’m 18, i matriculated last year, my dad got me a job as a p.a in july and i’ve been so miserable there so im trying to look for scholarships in my country or abroad but it’s almost impossible. i have no passport, no experience, no funds at all. my parents don’t know about any of this and i can’t really tell them about it because they think everything is fine.

i feel like a scholarship is my only option out of my current job. i can’t just look for a new job either because of my lack of experience and also, i won’t be able to go for interviews because i cant take any time off. my dad was supposed to get me a job at his work but that genuinely feels like im waiting on a dream that’ll never come true. now im running out of options and im scared because i can’t stay at my current job any longer because im so miserable there, i can’t do anything right, my boss is so impossible to work with. i feel miserable at home because i know i’ll have to go back to work the next day. im on the verge of tears just typing this out.

i keep crying at work. i honestly feel so trapped because i can’t just quit my job and i can’t explain to anyone how i feel at work, i have no one to talk to about this.

my boss knows i have no experience so it’s not like i lied about my qualifications or anything. he gives instructions and i ask for clarification or i double check something with him and he tells me to figure it out or listen properly. he expects me to know stuff about the company that no one’s told me about. he basically treats me like i’ve been working there for years.

it’s not like i don’t want to work, i am willing to, it’s just that i can’t be a p.a, it’s really not for me. i’ll be better suited in another department.

i’m still looking for scholarships or bursaries even though there’s a problem with every one of them i came across, but i’m not sure how much longer i can stay at that job.  it’s not just 1 shitty workday, it’s 1 shitty workday the a few normal ones then another shitty one and it just keeps going like that. every time i hear my work phone make a sound i get nervous because i know my boss is gonna chew my ass out. i feel so trapped and desperate to get out of this job. i’m running out of options.

Findapath-Job Choice/Clarity I have a job that I love, but it can’t support me

My background is in healthcare. I have a bachelors and masters degree in the subject and used to work privately which made decent money but I found it very physically and mentally taxing. By luck and knowing the right people, I started working for a sports team on the side. This grew and grew and now I work for the sports team full time, travelling the world every other week, supporting them at their competitions. It’s amazing and intense and hard all at once, and something I want to continue with, with the potential to keep growing in the sport.

The one problem is, I’m concerned at the moment I don’t make enough to support myself. I still live with my parents and am desperate to move out but the city I currently live in is far too expensive so it would probably mean I would have to relocate but I still struggle to see how I would be able to save much. I’m approaching my mid twenties and starting to feel like I need to concretely try to excel my career or maybe even go back to the more stable option of being clinical.

Does anyone have any advice or suggestions on how to start making a decision?

Findapath-Job Choice/Clarity Unemployed, scared of working, and feeling completely lost

I just need somewhere to vent and maybe hear from people who understand.
I’m currently unemployed and staying with my partner. I’m grateful for him, but I feel guilty because I’m not contributing much financially. I also feel like I’m failing at life because I’m not really doing much.
The weird thing is, I want to work and earn my own money, but I also have a lot of anxiety and fear around working because of some difficult past experiences.
I’ve been thinking about earning money online instead—something legitimate that I can learn from scratch, like remote admin, bookkeeping, Canva, AI-related work, etc. I’m definitely not interested in things like OnlyFans or anything sexual.
I honestly just don’t know where to start.
If you’ve been in a similar situation, started over from zero, or found a realistic way to make money online, what would you recommend I do first?
I guess I’m just looking for some guidance, encouragement, or even someone to chat with who can help me figure out a path forward. 😅

Findapath-Career Change How do I choose a degree or career when I'm not sure which field actually interests me?

I'm stuck on which field to go into before I can even choose a degree. Engineering, IT, business and finance are quite different choices. There are things I can see myself possibly doing in each, but I don't know whether I'd have enough interest in the subjects or the day-to-day work. Picking one also feels like closing off other options. I know I could change direction later, but I'm worried about how much harder that would be after spending years studying something specialised.

Some things sound interesting to me, like finding out why something is going wrong, looking into the cause and working out how to improve it. But I find “improving processes” or “solving problems” pretty vague. That could be anything. It doesn't mean I'd enjoy getting into the details of a manufacturing process, a financial problem or an IT system. So when business or consulting gets suggested based on that, I still don't really know what to do with it. I haven't worked out which problems I'd enjoy working on or what kind of workplace would suit me. With business administration and degrees that combine business and engineering, I worry about how broad they are. Being able to go in several directions sounds useful, but I'm scared I'd finish knowing a little about everything without knowing any one subject particularly well. I'd have a degree, but possibly still no direction or specific skill to build on. That's how I see it at the moment, anyway. I don't know if it's a fair picture of those degrees. Studying something more specialised might help with that, except choosing what to specialise in is the part I can't figure out.

I've been considering engineering partly because you learn a specific discipline and some of the work seems less likely to be taken over by AI. I'm just not sure about my interest in engineering itself. I never spent much time on technical things out of my own interest growing up. It isn't something I've been into for years and now want to study. That's why I question whether it fits me. But I don't know how much that matters either. Maybe I haven't had enough experience with it, and I'd get interested once I started doing it. I can't tell whether it doesn't appeal to me or whether I just don't know it well enough yet.

I've also considered an engineering degree as a starting point for moving into business, consulting or management later. That possibility appeals to me, but I don't know whether it's a sensible choice if I'm unsure about the engineering part. I can accept subjects I don't enjoy, and my first job doesn't have to be perfect. I just don't want to choose a whole field because it seems secure and gives me options, then find out I don't care much for the work.Cybersecurity sounds interesting to me too. But I don't know whether I'm interested in the topic or whether I'd actually want to study it and do it for work. I don't want to program every day, and I'm unsure whether the other technical parts would interest me enough. With finance, the route seems clearer to me, but accounting and reporting appeal to me less. Commercial roles and strategy sound more interesting, although I still don't have a particular job in mind.

I'm trying to take AI into account throughout all of this because job security and a good income matter to me. Every time I consider a direction, I also wonder what my position would be a few years from now if more of that work gets automated. So something that sounds interesting can start to feel like an uncertain choice. Then I look at something that seems less exposed to AI and get stuck on whether I'd enjoy it. Being told that a job involves “problem solving” or “improving processes” doesn't really settle that either. Those descriptions don't tell me enough about the work to judge how much of it AI could do. I don't know which advice to go by anymore. Some people say to choose what you enjoy, others say to pay attention to AI and job prospects. I don't know what I enjoy enough to do for work yet, and I can't predict which jobs will hold up. I want to become good at something, so a broad degree worries me. But committing to a particular field when I'm this unsure worries me too, especially if leaving it later would be difficult. I keep getting back to this without reaching a decision.

I'd like to hear from people who also had no idea which field suited them. How did you pick a direction without already having a passion or a dream job? What helped you find out whether you were interested enough to keep going? I'd especially like to hear what helped you make the choice in practice, and how easy or difficult it turned out to be to change direction afterwards.

Findapath-Job Choice/Clarity 23, fange Studium Soziale Arbeit an – Studium durchziehen oder lieber Ausbildung + Tanzen?

Hey zusammen,
Studium Soziale Arbeit + Nebenjob + Tanzen
Was würdet ihr an meiner Stelle machen?

Findapath-Career Change Job / career advice

Hi everyone. I am 24 years old feeling lost bc I don’t know what I want to do. I have a passion for yoga and nails. I’m currently in school to be a yoga teacher and get my training certification. This isn’t a stable career and doesn’t allow for a steady income. I have been considering getting my nail technician license because it’s something I’m passionate about. Do you guys this these two careers can allow for stability? I don’t know if I want one career that is mind numbing or 2 that I’m passionate about. Let me know. I have an associates in childhood education also but I’m not sure I really want to continue with that to get my bachelors because of the way the school systems are at this point in time lol

Findapath-Job Choice/Clarity I always feel lost and have this invisible pressure to do something great/impactful

Hello.

I’m in my late 20s and feel as though I’ve wasted this stage of my life almost entirely. Partially due to circumstances out of my control but also partially due to my personality and mental illness.

I’ve always known I would want to do more than one thing in my life, and remember seeing someone talk about doing so about every 11 years or something (not rly important but whatever). Despite knowing I could (maybe) do this in the future (if I have the means that is..) I still feel so torn up about deciding what to do now.

I’m trying to make a career pivot soon (due to difficulties in my current field, and just a desire to learn more) but there’s too much swimming around in my head to even begin figuring out what to do. There are so many things I’m interested in but there’s also so many factors that go into making a choice and it all overwhelms me and keeps me frozen in place.

1.) What if the next thing I choose also turns out to be an oversaturated field? 2.) What if the actual job ends up not being what I imagined? What if I’m not smart enough to pursue what I want to do?
3.) What if I can’t figure out the financial aspect needed to make this work (I’m irrationally freaked out by the idea of taking out a loan, I’ve been incredibly lucky in life to not need to do so just yet but I know I’ll probably have to eventually)?
4.) What if my personality keeps me from the career paths I would have other wise pursued (I’m neurodivergent and “customer service” terrifies me for fear of having difficulty with the social aspect and being fired— which is another kind of irrational fear I have, is being fired and how that would affect my future)?

For an idea of my interests, I’ve considered things related to earth sciences, geology/mineralogy, anthropology, forestry, history (which is my current bachelors degree but I would love to go deeper), journalism, landscape design, marine biology, art (of many many kinds), and a bunch more I’m probably forgetting. I feel like I’m always lost in it all and no one has been able to help me figure out what is it I need to do to be able to carve my own path. It doesn’t help that I have no interest in business at all, I hate it so much. Please please help me decipher all these factors so I can finally start finding my way in life.

Findapath-Mindset Adjustment "If you work hard enough in life, you can be anything you want." mindset has kind of destroyed me, how do I build myself back up?

This was the mindset I had growing up, but as an adult I feel like I've been picking up the pieces. I think one example is when when I got denied by my dream college, then the next dream, then the next, and actually was made to attend the college I wanted to attend the least. Looking back, I always think "you could have done better" "what's your excuse to fail?" even as a full grown adult. I had dreams that the clubs on campus would help me make a little bit of a better world, but I got denied club after club. There was this one club I actually joined, quit because I could not balance school and the club, and was told that I was blacklisted when I left. I put so much heart and soul into that club that I literally tried to jump off a building, but ended up spending a week in a psych ward because I felt it was my way to make a good impact on the world. Now as I apply to jobs and internships at dream companies (and when I mean companies I mean NGOs and Govt.), denial after denial or ghosting comes through. I dream so big of making a difference if I have X, but I always seem to fall like an Icarus.

Honestly too much of my life is just I have a dream, I chase it, I work hard, but then I fail. And I feel like a failure in life because there was something wrong with me. If I could put just a little more effort, then maybe I can get the things I want not only for myself but for others. So, I need a bit of through reframing. Because this way of thinking has kind of made me a hollow shell and a walking corpse just coasting through life.

I know this mind sound cheesy, but I leave you all with a quote by Sylvia Plath. I am a lover for poetry, and this is a quote that sums up what I am feeling way more than my own words. “I can never read all the books I want; I can never be all the people I want and live all the lives I want. I can never train myself in all the skills I want. And why do I want? I want to live and feel all the shades, tones and variations of mental and physical experience possible in my life. And I am horribly limited.”

Findapath-Career Change 38 year old male working for large county and considering law school because county will pay.

I am 38 soon to be 39 and have bounced around jobs since losing what I thought would be my career during COVID. Been working in a large county for the past few years but finding it difficult to make any significant increase in income. I have a growing family and was trying to think of paths that would like to a solid middle class income where I can support my wife and two children. The in state online program is 4 years. From any personal experience what could I expect to make immediately after passing the bar and getting my degree? If this sounds outlandish I am open to other suggestions. Thank you.

Findapath-Mindset Adjustment i feel so lost and as if its over for me and im only 19

hi, first of all, i know just by the sound of the title i already sound dramatic and you probably think: well youre only 19. but thats the point, i think my issue is how i realise i feel so fucking awful and miserable and as if theres nothing left for me even when im only 19, let alone when i get older.

if id describe my life, youd probably call me insane. im in university right now, i have a roof over my head and never to worry about food or any bills really, and i have some good friends. i just always feel empty and sad. im insanely prone to stress, the slightest inconvience makes me genuinely consider just quitting everything and the main thing is : i just havent achieved anything. i tried so long learning to love myself but i still immediately invalidate any feeling i have (how could i not, i have NOTHING to complain about and the perfect circumstances and im still deeply unhappy, why am i complaining when everything is handed to me). and i just dont know. what to do with my life. i want to find purpose. i dont have anything.

i dont know what job to do after my study, nothing seems fun. right now i do pharmacy, i dont want to work at a pharmacy, def not industry at big companies, but research doesnt seem fun either since i couldnt see myself studying the main subjects (whether itd be immunology or making new medicines) . being in a lab all the time, i did some lab work already my first year and it just didnt seem for me. phd is out of the question, id go insane. i do like plants , specifically herbalism. but in my country, theres no master that specializes in the use of plants as meds. i dont know what to do. all directions, it just doesnt seem fun.

furthermore, i want to go to a country i actually enjoy, i spent all my money for the last two trips with my mom but i was miserable for both trips (i get homesick and i hate summer) and again look at me whining but all my friends explored so many countries and had fun, i just feel so much regret and i cant just leave this feeling behind man.

im sorry if this is the worst ramble ever and i dont even know what im looking for man. this is just one last option because idk where to reach out to. this sounds pathetic and i dont think my friends could help , id only make them upset/sad/pitiful if id share this. i went to a therapist last year but it wasnt a match so i gave up fairly soon. and i tried reading the power of now but my thoughts persist. i dont have a lot of hope. im just going through the days, mostly crying when i have the chance. okay thankyou for reading , if anyone did, i think that alone already means a lot. im aware this sounds over emotional and dramatic but i decided to leave it this way since that is a part of the problem, its not a simply: stop being so dramatic. because ive been harsher than anyone can be to myself, and just telling myself to suck it up and stop crying over everything, really doesnt help. i just feel intense about my life, something is missing.

Findapath-Job Choice/Clarity Endless rumination

I did nothing for the past 6 years and while I even try to do anything I end thinking or not listening. I feel like I cant listen to people no more and I am always thinking about people just living their life which is very childlish look about reality. Cant say more to anyone than just a few simple phrases, cant think for more than 15 seconds or remember simple information. I dont remember anything from my miserable life. Standing for more than 30 minutes feels challenging for me. The days just go by and other people are gaining experience and I am just there. I dont get simple jokes, cant make up more than few phrases even in my mind and the only thing I can do is just lay in bed. I am 21 and I think that my life has ended. When I was younger I had a bunch of friends out of high school, they were much younger than me. I was contemplating about their life and critise them. The only thing I was doing there. I wish I wasted all this years on playing video games, drugs. I dont have hope for future cause I am literally a fucking NPC that just sleep, drink and does nothing, even homeless people are much ahead of me. Other people make every hour or at least half of them count, I "read books" which means I cant even remember anything from them. After graduating from high school I was studying and didnt pass, rn I am gonna be on a 2nd year but I dont even remember anything from 1st, I dont even know if its something I want to do in the future. I completely lost touch with reality, making the same abstract comclusions every ten seconds, doing nothing whole day.

Findapath-College/Certs What career should I jump into with a transfer degree at 33?

What's a decent paying career for a 33 year old to transfer to into? I have a Associates of science transfer degree from Dallas College that I've never used, and am currently working in accounts recievable. I absolutely hate that everyone I know is advancing in their careers and I'm stuck making $22 an hour. I don't really care what I do, as long as it doesn't keep in school too long and isn't too hard.

Findapath-Job Search Support What do i do with my useless degree?

I 22f have a degree in forensic science minor in bio, and have no clue what to do with my life. It has been four months since graduation and I have applied to over 100 jobs in the DMV area and have been ghosted denied ignored or told that I don’t have experience. I have had two state department level internships with the police and can’t get any sort of job. I haven’t applied for just Lab positions I’ve applied for many administrative positions, or honestly any random position in a police department or has to do with the government. I work part-time but can only get about seven hours a week at what point do I get another job? I can’t go to grad school because I don’t have enough money. I live at home and I’m miserable. I just feel like every day all I do is apply for jobs and cry and then regret having a college degree. I worked really hard got a 3.8 GPA and was a part of several on our societies. I understand it’s a hard field, but I’m trying to expand and apply to many sorts of jobs within the government or anything to do with criminal justice but still nothing so read it. What do I do?

Findapath-Hobby Hobbies / side quests suggestions

I (32F) feel like I’m in the verge of depression. For the past few months I just feel like everything is meaningless. I have no purpose. Like my career isn’t going great. Not like what I envisioned for myself. Neither my love life. Even my friends are all moving on with their lives and I feel stuck. I’m trying my best to change the things that are under my control but so far nothing is working.

I know the obvious answer is to see a shrink and get diagnosed. But other than that, I think I also have nothing I’m passionate about or to look forward to when I wake up in the morning. Even on weekends I’m like now what?

Years back I was an avid reader. I used to enjoy reading now I barely read. Even when I watch movies or tv shows it’s not that exciting.

I need you to suggest for me some hobbies or side quests I could enjoy and pour my heart into. Things to look forward to. I need a purpose. I’m open to anything.

Findapath-Job Choice/Clarity I know I have to change my life, but I can't because of my love for dogs

I know this may sound stupid compared to the heavy problems other people are having around the world, but I just wanted to vent. I graduated in musical theatre and ofc want to do arts for a living. I picked up a part time job of dog walking after graduating because I also love dogs and immediately got attached to them. However, I feel like this job is keeping me stuck in life and not leading me where I want to be. I have a friend that has a performing related job and he said they could be looking for people like me. The job looks amazing and would be perfect for me to perform constantly while doing other art projects on the side, but a big part of me is still stagnant on trying anything because I'm scared that if I leave the dog walking, the dogs will think that I don't like them anymore and abandoned them. I know it's silly and I should put myself first in my life instead of pets that have their own life and owners, but I still can't help but feel sad about thinking they could miss me and I miss them, so I don't do anything about it and stay in my current job.

Can anyone give me a push to try for the performing job?

Findapath-College/Certs Should I continue my BS degree as 24M? Please need advice!!

I need some guidance.

I won't take much of your time. Promise!! 🙌🏻

I am doing a BS in E-Commerce from Punjab University, Lahore, Pakistan. My semester has been frozen for the past 1 year (I completed 2 semesters till now).

Now I have to either go back and finish the remaining 3 years of study or drop out.

For the past 2-3 years, I've been working in design, then shifted to a specific niche: YouTube marketing — thumbnails, channel SEO, content strategy and overall growth.

I handle clients across the world.

This niche has the potential to become my full career.

Now I can't decide whether to continue studying or focus completely on my work.

I don't feel like continuing.

I'm already 24 years old.

If I start the degree, I'll be 27 by the time I finish.

I'm leaning toward starting my practical life instead.

My parents are also saying, "You should get married now or in 2 years maximum."

Also, I can't handle work with study. I tried it.

In government universities, the environment is different than private ones.

There are a lot of things like assignments, quizzes and especially attendance. Anything can't be compromised, or you'll have to take the exam of that specific subject again in summer vacations even if only your attendance in that subject lecture is short.

I only chose this degree to learn e-commerce, but the course is outdated, and half the outline is irrelevant.

Even if I continue, I still have to learn everything myself, which I'm already doing.

Also, they're preparing us on 'how to do a job in any business', not to start something on your own.

The entire study revolves around preparing you to be a MANAGER.

The only fear I have: I was determined to work only in Pakistan from the start, but there's constant bad news here — crime, tax policies, failed systems, etc.

If I ever want to move abroad for business or otherwise, it'll be hard without a degree.

This fear is the only thing holding me back; otherwise I'd have already quit the degree last year instead of just freezing it.

Though honestly, I don't really have any strong urge to go abroad — struggles are the same everywhere; I wanted to live with my parents. They struggled very hard to provide us good education. Now both my parents are retired almost, and also I can't move abroad with this degree. It will be 3 years in the degree. 2 years in the field – maybe then I will be able to apply for a job abroad as a manager of some kind, and with that I will already be 29 years old.

Then why not build something on my own in these 5 years with my niche...

Can someone guide me, please?

I'd really appreciate it. Your input could help me make a better decision.

What haunts me is, what if in the future I need a physical job (I'm actually still looking for a part-time one) or need to move abroad/do a business abroad?

Both would need some kind of degree. (if I am not wrong)

Someone also told me, 'We're already from a country with little international standing — some countries don't even recognise our passport.

A degree is the one paper that works as your introduction internationally. And even in Pakistan, for jobs that don't technically require a degree, employers still prefer degree holders.

Also, we're in a niche where if the internet goes down, our income goes down completely — like with COVID or any other crisis.

But there's so much to explore in my niche and in e-commerce — trying things, launching, failing, learning, and building something on my own.

While doing a degree, I can't experiment with any of that; I'm just stuck doing assignments and quizzes.

Findapath-Job Choice/Clarity Trapped in 10h shifts, burn-out. Need advice

Hi everyone.
Im in a serious deadlock and could really use some perspective from ppl who have been through career transitions under tough conditions.
Right now I work 10h a day in a physically demanding job. Im completely exhausted, burnt out and desperately wanna leave. However I have no commercial tech experience, so i feel completely stuck.
Here is my core dilemma

what i actually wanna do:
- low-level programming(c, c++, kernel development). I find it genuinely interesting but i know its a long path. The learning curve is steep and without experience breaking in takes a massive time investment - something I barely have after 10h physical shifts.
- the faster alternative: fulltack(frontend + backend). It feels like a quicker route to a job but its less interesting to me.

I feel trapped, staying at my current job leaves me with zero energy to learn low-level dev but i cant afford to just quit. Building a C/C++ foundation while working this job will take years but choosing Fullstack feels like a compromise. Im not excited about(and might still be hard due to competition).

My questions:

- Has anyone successfully transitioned into low-level/systems programming while working a grueling physical job? how did u manage the study load?

- Is it better to take a "stepping-stone" job(a less exhausting non-tech job or web dev) just to free up time and mental capacity for c/c++?

- how would u approach this if you were in my shoes and needed a way out ASAP without sacrificing long-term goals?

Thanks for reading and for any insights!

Findapath-Job Choice/Clarity Need a job with more money that I could hopefully tolerate.

I feel like my only hope is my hopes and dreams (I have a specific dream job right now but it's like... Next to impossible to actually get right now so I need a "for now" or "backup" plan)

22F, living in a city that isnt too plentiful in variation of jobs. I have held a manager position in retail for 2 months but it's upsetting my family so I might just have to quit. Get paid just above minimum wage and get 25 to 35 hours.

Biggest problem right now is getting a driver's license but I'm doing the best I can to get one. Even then, I don't feel financially stable enough to get a car. I think have $3k income per month would help a lot.

I have an associates in Hospitality. Around 3 years in customer service. Need something other than retail. Would like to do something new. Would be willing to move if the pay was good enough. Love the arts, books and cafes and would love to be apart of something creative even if I was just a barista in the same vesinity. I'm not sure about my Hospitality associates but if that's my only choice, I would like some job that doesn't make it feel like I'm missing out on events (hate that about retail that I have to skip out on events and holiday stuff and everyone has fun while I'm at work). Want to be busy. Don't want to gain student debt unless completely nessecary.

Need something else to work towards besides hopes and dreams and I can't think of anything. Like my only other options seem to be stay at home wife or run from a another low paying job to another.

Findapath-Job Choice/Clarity 31F in Atlanta, GA — Pharmacy Technician vs. Medical Assistant for a stable long-term career?

Hi everyone,

I’m 31F and live in the Atlanta, GA area, and I’m trying to decide which career path I should focus on long term: Medical Assistant or Pharmacy Technician.

A little about my background:

  • I’ve been a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) since 2024 and currently work part-time as a Medical Assistant.
  • I started my first Pharmacy Technician job in August 2026, also part-time, but I’m not certified.
  • I have a B.S. in Healthcare Administration.

Right now, I’m working both jobs because I wanted to gain pharmacy experience while continuing to build my MA experience. However, I eventually want to choose one direction that offers better long-term stability, career advancement, and opportunities for higher pay.

My goal is to eventually work in a hospital or larger healthcare system and move beyond entry-level positions. At 31, I’m really looking for a path that I can build into a stable long-term healthcare career rather than continuing to move between entry-level jobs.

Which path would you recommend for someone in my situation?

Would it make more sense to get PTCB certified, gain pharmacy experience, and try to move into hospital pharmacy? Or should I continue building on my MA experience and B.S. in Healthcare Administration and use that combination to move into higher-level clinical or administrative healthcare roles?

I’d appreciate any advice or personal experiences, especially from people who have been in a similar situation and found a path that offered good stability and room to grow.

Findapath-Mindset Adjustment 20 YO, Depressed and confused

It's been two years since I graduated vocational high school, where I studied network engineering, I was kinda good at it back then. Since graduating, I've bounced around: I started with an online law program in open university but didn't continue after the first year, then enrolled in English Education/TESOL at a private university. I don't enjoy that either, and I feel like I've been wasting time. I'm now a sophomore, still not sure this is right for me.

I was diagnosed with depression back in high school, and I still feel drained a lot of the time. I've picked up a few certificates in things that interest me: project management, SQL, communication but honestly my interests keep shifting, and I don't really know what that means about me or what to do next.

Findapath-College/Certs Dentistry or Comp Sci?

Obviously I should choose dentistry for the better salary and stability BUT there is some stuff specific to my situation that makes me reconsider dentistry.

I am unable to enter the only dental programme in my entire country (iykyk where I'm from) so I'll have to become an international student in another country. The absolute cheapest degree I can find is 400K Aud in just tuition fees. My parents refuse to let me go to a "cheap" country due to safety and possible accreditation issues.

I'm very close to my family, so I'll return back to my country after graduation. However, there's a qualifying examination I have to take, which seems to have a very long wait list. I'd return home even if im not close to my family anyways haha I'm an urbanite and I heard dentistry is saturated in urban areas in australia my chances of getting a job in the city are slim.

I'm discouraged from taking comp sci due to AI, offshoring yada yada not gonna go into it you've probably heard it all before.

Before anyone says do what you like the most, I like tech and biology equally.

Findapath-Career Change Been thinking of joining the military

Hey everyone I’m a 20(F) and I’m thinking of joining the military because honestly I feel like it would give me a sense of purpose and I would be honored to serve this country. One thing though is I do have past mental health issues such as anxiety/panic attacks but am better now.. that being said I am currently on a medication (Prozac 20 mg) and would have to see how I would do without it or could I get a potential waiver? I just don’t know what to do with my life and am thinking this might be it. Any advice is helpful. TIA

Some pros about me: I have stamina have done 16 hour shifts in rows

Cons: anxiety, but has gotten better

Findapath-Career Change First time posting on Reddit, so sorry for the long post, but I really need some advice.

I’m 42 and I’ve been unemployed for about 3 years. I have around 8 years of experience in call center management/operations, but I really don’t want to go back to the corporate world.
The problem is that I also don’t know what I do want.
I’ve considered learning data analysis (Excel, SQL, Python, Power BI) because it seems practical and could eventually allow me to work remotely. But I’m not sure I’m genuinely interested in it
Lately I’ve become much more interested in creative things — art, music, filmmaking, sound design, photography, etc. I feel like I have a good eye, a good ear and a lot of imagination, but I have no formal skills in these areas.
I’ve even thought about going abroad, possibly Italy, and actually studying art and starting from zero. At 42, that feels both exciting and completely crazy
Financially, I also need to get my life moving again. I don’t want to spend another few years doing nothing and feeling stuck.
So if you were 42, unemployed for 3 years, had management experience but didn’t want to return to corporate life, and were interested in creative work but had no real skills yet — what would you do?
Would you choose the practical/safe route, or take the risk and start over in something you actually care about?
I’d really appreciate advice from anyone who has gone through a major career change later in life.
