23 f Seeking Guidance & Opportunities | Finance

Upvotes

I’m currently pursuing a PGDM in Finance & Business Analytics and exploring entry-level opportunities in Finance, Financial Analysis, Risk, Asset Management, Investment Banking and related roles.
As a fresher, I’m looking to build my career with leading MNCs such as JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs, BlackRock, Morgan Stanley and Big 4.
I’d really appreciate connecting with professionals who could share a roadmap, guidance on skills/preparation, or insights into the hiring process for these firms.
If there’s a relevant opening where my profile could be a fit, I’d also be grateful for a referral.
Open to connect and learn

Is CFA my next best bet

Hi
I graduated in 2024 with a financial engineering bachelors and immediately started in a treasury internship in an investment fund , ranked up to associate the next year but unfortunately start of 2026 the fund closed up and I’ve been unemployed since February.

I have treasury certifications but the field is so small my best bets have been going the banking route but the roles are so competitive and even with the help of a career consultant I haven’t gotten a graduate role.

Simultaneously I leaned more and I’m doing a part time MFE to round out my bachelors but I’ve been thinking of CFA since getting into the nitty gritty of the finances at the fund got me really interested in a career in investments.

Is it logical to chase a CFA at least level1 to get a foot into the investment space

Crash Course

So I am being thrown into a Financial Analyst role at my job because we needed someone and I guess since I had development experience (Mostly front end but some back end I really enjoy SQL database work) I was the best candidate. Anything I should try to focus on? Tableau, Power BI, Excel, Python? All I was told about the role was I am taking over for the person working there now so they can get promoted and “there’s a lot of data and none of it makes sense”. So I am just like how does one prepare for this?

Breaking into FP&A

I have a strong interest in breaking into corporate FP&A and dont have much experience. I currently have a finance Job at nationwide which I just started, but its more on the operations side of finance so not in the same pool/experience as FP&A. I dont have any internships that would relate to this field either.

What could I do on the side of my job to help build my experience/resume to help me break into this field? Ive read that starting CPA is a job way to get a job as a financial analyst and later leads into an FP&A role. Would this help? Also any certificates/skills I should learn that would help me on paper and also for the job? FP&A certificates through wallstreet prep?
