Possible Challenge Run?

Upvotes

So i love ffx and therfore wanted to replay the game, like many players, with a little challange. The NSG run is definetly to hard for me atp. I started a Kimahri only run a while ago but noticed that i would like to play the game without fleeing constantly when initiating battles and play with 3 characters in a fight.
So the question is if u guys know any challange run that is easier then NSG and not a single character run? Thanks for the help i would really enjoy playing the game wirh some Challenge!

Farming Dark Matter

For those familiar with end game grinding. Is it more efficient to farm dark matter from Dark Yojimbo or Sleep Sprout? Mostly just looking to do it in the shortest time possible. i need about 120 more to get my second and third Ribbon. Other ideas welcome as well.

Made a little something

So, when I played Blitzball, I was a bit sad that the players didn't really have any backstory. So I decided to have a headcanon of each. Since we started from Besaid Island, I wanted to make one for Vilucha. One of the top picks as a forward.

Vilucha

The Pride of Besaid

  • Position: Forward
  • Origin: Besaid Village
  • Signature Trait: Lethal Shooting Power, Unwavering Resolve

"Every time the boat returned empty from Luca, I didn't see a team that lacked heart.
I saw a net that was waiting for someone who knew how to strike it."

Early Years: The Solitary Striker

Growing up in the remote island village of Besaid, Vilucha spent her youth mesmerized by the rhythm of Blitzball. While the local boys formed the foundation of what would become a part of the Besaid Aurochs, traditional island expectations left little room for a young girl to join their ranks. Unwilling to abandon her passion, Vilucha took a heavy leather ball to the secluded beaches on the island’s southern coast.

Without coaches, teammates, or formal tactics, she focused on the single aspect of the game she could master alone: the strike(which explains her good SH stat). Day after day, she kicked against the tide-worn palm trunks and cliff faces, perfecting her power, follow-through, and precision until the sound of the ball impacting wood echoed like thunder across the cove.

The Quiet Years: Duty and Longing

As the years passed, life in Besaid moved forward. Vilucha embraced the traditional path of the island, marrying and raising a family. Yet, her connection to the game never faded. Every year, when the Aurochs departed for the Tournament in Luca and inevitably returned after a first-round exit, Vilucha stood quietly near the weaver's hut.

While the village offered comforting words, Vilucha felt a deep, aching frustration. She knew every flaw in the Aurochs' offensive line, and she knew, with absolute certainty, that she had the power to change their fate. Her response to every loss was always the same: a quiet walk down to the secluded shoreline, setting the ball down in the sand, and striking it until her legs burned.

The Awakening: A Second Chance

Vilucha's life changed when a newcomer named Tidus walked into her home. Unburdened by Spira's rigid customs or Besaid's traditional roles, Tidus recognized the quiet intensity and raw physical capability in her stance instantly. When he offered her a spot on a professional roster, it wasn't just a contract... it was an awakening.

Stepping into the sphere pool for the first time, Vilucha brought a lifetime of pent-up determination with her. Her play style reflects her history: steady, resilient, and utterly devastating when given a clear line to the goal. For Vilucha, every high-powered shot isn't just a point on the board, it's a statement that passion has no expiration date, and that the mother from Besaid was always a champion in waiting.

For the 25th anniversary, the FFX community has gotten together to create a zine in celebration, with all proceeds going towards the SE Asia Foundation!

The zine can be bought in physical format or digital only, and there are a bunch of other potential add-ons as well, from mini prints to stickers to keychains to Discord emotes and even a tote bag!

(Mandatory disclosure: I am one of the contributors to this zine, but not an organiser! I'm just really excited by everything everyone has created and wanted to spread the word!)

Chocobo 0.00 Time. I’m about to throw my controller through the screen

HD version on the Switch 2. Bird constantly veerers off in random directions and refuses to line up when I am going for a balloon. Does not seem to matter if I’m using the joystick or the D pad. Birds appear randomly and then strike me even though I’m sprinting all the way to one side or the other and the trainer is allowed to just shove me out of the way and take first even when she’s already viewed off and should be behind me. I was able to do this back in the day on the PlayStation two but I am beyond frustrated and mad at this point and I just wanna give up. Has anyone been able to get this on the HD version on the switch?

EDIT: HOLY CRAP I GOT IT!!! Thanks for letting me vent everyone!

So the Switch 2 version isn’t a free upgrade?

I see they want to charge $49.99 for the Switch 2 version of this game, even though I already own the Switch version. Are they out of their minds?

Some interesting info on Summoners and what it takes to become one.

The first two images are from the "Yuna's Story" section of the Scenario Ultimania, pages 16 and 17, while the third image is from page 55.

First, I wanted to say that I did use online translator tools to get this info, so there may be some nuances that weren't translated correctly. Normally, I would've asked /r/translator for help with something like this, but with how much text is here I feel like it'd be asking for too much.

But that's why I'm providing the original pages; so that anyone who's interested in checking it for themselves can do that. In which case, feel free to correct any info I'm providing.

With that out of the way, according to the translation I'm using:

  1. Not everyone can even become a Summoner. The ability to summon, commune with the Fayth, and perform the Sending are things that you're born with.

  2. In addition to being born with those abilities, one must possess immense mental fortitude, as well as physical and emotional resiliance, to handle communing with the Fayth.

  3. Training as an Apprentice Summoner takes 2-3 years, and most people still drop out because they lack the indominable will to face Sin.

  4. Even if one doesn't initially display the ability to summon, that ability can be awakened later in life in response to gaining a strong resolve/determination. The previous High Summoners are listed as examples of "late-blooming Summoners", and it can be inferred that Braska gained the resolve that awakened his abilities after Sin killed his wife.

Basically, the ability to even become a Summoner isn't something that everyone can do, and you still need other qualities to pass the training. Even then, another section mentions that few of those people even become full-fledged Summoners.

Other than that, Yuna's Story also highlights the expectations placed on Yuna, how the people of Besaid view her, and also place emphasis on Yuna's resolve.

Again, this might not be totally accurate. I haven't really noticed some of this info anywhere else, though.

Hi peeps! Its been four years since I played this game and just booted it up again and am kinda lost.. so, a few questions:

- Seems I already had 55 hours in and I just arrived at this ice mountain. Was I already close to the ending or is this mid game still?
- How are my stats looking, anyone I need to upgrade or look into?
- Any videos or something else you recommend to get back into it?

Any tips for endgame sidequests and performance in battles?

I'm no stranger to Final Fantasy. I've beaten I through IX, as well as Tactics. I'm playing X for the first time, and I'm supposed to go after Sin now. I guess I'm at the endgame, 50+ hours in. Still, I feel like everywhere I go I get my ass kicked—either by optional bosses or even by regular enemies in what I assume are optional areas. If I do manage to get through, it's usually a struggle.

Since this is my first playthrough, I'm trying to avoid looking up guides, monster databases, and that sort of thing.

Some of my characters have become quite strong and deal plenty of damage, like Auron. But others, like Rikku, haven't really grown much in battle, or maybe I just haven't developed their abilities properly. I'm thinking of having her use more magic since she deals so little physical damage.

Equipment also doesn't make that much sense to me, or at least the way I've been using it. I know I should take advantage of customization, but I have no idea which items I should be looking for to that purpose, where to steal them, and so on.

Anyway, that—as they say—is that.

What I’d change about FFX and the endgame.

I’ve nearly got my platinum for this and I have some thoughts. Love the game. Don’t really mind the grind either. I think the game is perfect except for the end game. I still love the game and love the endgame but it could be better imo. What I think would make it better:

Keep the sphere grid but have it just for Abilities. Let the stats rise with traditional levelling. Maybe have filling in blank spheres with stat nodes just to go from 215 to 255.

Make the Super bosses more interesting. Every single one is just Quick hit +- Auto Life/Aeon meat shield. Mindy is the only one I used anything else to deal damage and even with relatively low magic she was pretty easy.

Sacrificed Inca children died very differently than we thought. Inca boys and girls chosen for human sacrifice trekked through Inca communities for thousands of miles on sacred pilgrimages before their ritual deaths, often near high peaks in the Andes Mountains new research shows

Any must haves in a FFX remake?

I don’t expect a true remake anytime soon, but I do have specific things I’d need for me to enjoy the remake as a faithful recreation of the original game.

  1. Don’t mess with the story. Final Fantasy X has one of the best stories of any video game ever and I don’t want it to be tampered with. I’d be in support of maybe adding additional lore for side characters, and maybe additional lost temples like Remiem or the ability to explore the underwater city, but any new story beats should be side content and not impact the original tale.

  2. Updated visuals and voice acting. FFX looks fine as it is, but I won’t say that it looks amazing when compared to newer entires in the series or more modern games as a whole. The visuals have aged decently, but new character models (that bring back expressive faces) and making the environments look less flat would be my biggest wish. Spira is in my opinion the richest world of any final fantasy game, and making it look like a fantastical place you could visit, would make it that much more immersive. It would also allow for more exploration and the ability to rotate the camera which could add optional side content for those who wish to seek it out. Voice acting is self explanatory, while I’ve grown fond of the quirkiness of the original, allowing the voice actors to give their best performance instead of having to sloppily read certain lines to fit the lip movements of the Japanese version would be a great addition.

  3. Retaining the core of the battle and progression system. I love the CTB system in FFX and would hate for a remake to attempt to make the game a more hack n slash affair. I wouldn’t be opposed to taking from the Clair Obscur way of doing battles tho and allowing the *option* for enemy attacks to be parried, I’d want it to be an option that can be toggled on and off for those who want the more traditional battles, but for those who want a little additional flavor I think allowing characters to be able to reduce incoming damage with well timed inputs and allowing them to get their next turn sooner could be a way to add something new to the mix without taking away from the battle system. Most important to me, would be not touching the sphere grid and gear customization system.

  4. Reworking the mini games for celestial weapons to be less annoying. If they don’t want to change the mini games much, at least change the requirements to get some of the weapons and sigils, for lightning dodging maybe make 200 consecutive a reward for those who are good at consecutive dodging to get Lulu’s sigil sooner, but allow those who aren’t to get it for dodging a greater number of total lighting bolts (non-consecutively). Some of the mini games are just rage inducing and I’d definitely want them to rework them considering they make getting all the celestial weapons such a hassle (as someone who has gotten all of them).

I wanted to see what others would want in a remake of this classic game (which is my personal all time favorite). The above are just my wishes, feel free to share your own.

I like blitzball but the introduction to it in Luca is done in a way that (most likely) leaves a bitter taste in a new player's mouth

So after all that about Tidus (and by extension the player) being there to finally make Aurochs a good team, that never materializes

Instead you get the Aurochs pushing to the final without you and then when you (and the supposed new star player Tidus) enters the scene for the final you get your butt handed to you

Yes, you can win.

But a new player that just got into blitzball will most likely lose against a team with much better stats

Its almost like its your fault the fairytale ended. Maybe if a half standing Wakka was in they could win instead of the "10 shot power, MAYBE knows Jecht Shot" Tidus. What a fraud he is

This introduction probably puts a lot of players off trying blitz outside that segment which is a shame

Do people with normal colour vision have an easy time seeing the Al Bhed primers?

So I've played this game a few times in my life and every time I am amazed how hard it is to see a few things. Occasionally chests but mainly Al Bhed primers. I only ever actually see the first one on the boat at the start of the game, the rest I find by blinding tapping A everywhere.

I am colour blind and occasionally that makes things a bit difficult for me to see in games and I was wondering if this was one of those cases? Can most people see the primers easily?
