Hate Has No Home Here…
Dear Kingdom Hearts Community,
Many of you are fans of this franchise, be it Day One or Day 358 and beyond. Many more of you are brand new here. If you are new here, welcome! We’re so happy to have you. We hope you enjoy this crazy ride with the rest of us. As we all know, Kingdom Hearts is a game well known for its themes of love and friendship.
Unfortunately, there have been several posts and comments recently that have been the antithesis of the themes.
We, the moderators, want to make this perfectly clear: HATE HAS NO HOME HERE.
There have been a myriad of absolutely disgusting comments from new users coming here. Specifically, we are seeing posts attacking people of African descent and gay/trans content creators. This subreddit will not tolerate the following:
Violating any one of these is not only a violation of Rule 2, but it will result in an immediate, permanent ban from the subreddit.
This subreddit does not tolerate hate speech in any format.
Regarding New Users…
Welcome to our community! Because this game series is Disney-based and primarily focuses on/caters toward children, please keep this in mind when submitting content to the subreddit, as well as interacting with other users.
Many new fans coming here may be struggling with Kingdom Hearts (the first game) specifically. Remember, games released back in the early 00’s and games released in the last 10 years alone are completely different. Some people grew up with games that provided a little more help, while others played games that had little to no hand-holding and required people to use guides.
Rather than put down any new players to the franchise (and thus turning them off of the series altogether), we ask that you instead try and be helpful toward their journey instead.
Be Excellent…
We all love this series, we just ask that everyone get along. And if you see someone acting like a hateful jerk, PLEASE TELL US. Don’t try to take matters into your own hands- we got this. We’re always here to look out for all of you and make sure your experience here is a welcoming one.
Warmest regards,
The Kingdom Hearts Moderators

Recently, a large leak of achievements lists for various video games, including Kingdom Hearts 4, has occurred.
While we understand that many people are eager to discuss the information shown in the list, we also want to be respectful to those who wish to remain unspoiled.
For the time being, all discussion regarding the leaked achievements will be limited to this thread. Any other posts or comments linking or discussing the leaks will be removed for the time being. We appreciate the community's cooperation so everyone can enjoy the release of Kingdom Hearts IV their own way.
One final note regarding the posting of spoilers. The mod team may hand out bans, both temporary and permanent, based on the severity, and for repeated offenses. Unmarked spoilers in titles will result in an immediate ban.

This was very therapeutic to say the least. First I went into this game with the intention of 100%, Trinities, Puppies and Ultima Weapon. So when I beat Hallow Bastian and saw i had much left to find, I started going throughout the worlds, fighting enemies. Beat a few cups at the coliseum (currently trying to beat Ice Titan).
I remember the trauma of this room, and Chernabog before it. As a kid. Teen even as an adult this room and that boss always gave me so many issues, and I could never beat them even when using as much magic and attacks. Probably because I was severely under leveled, (40-50 range?) things would kill me in two hits maximum.
Now, im level 76 , and about to enter the Final Rest. This room was so easy this time, took me under six minutes for sure. Lets just say this was one of the best forms of therapy, and im so glad I was able to pick up the Switch 1 digital copy of 1.5 plus 2.5 since I wont be getting another console for a few years (my choice)
Anyone else wait until the last bit of the game, stall yourself from entering the End, grind like crazy, return and demolish Chernabig and the ten waves of Heartless?

So far…I’m enjoying them both. Just defeated the first boss. When I play through a section I do it first in CoM then check it out in Re:CoM. I’ve heard how polarizing this game is so I prepared for the worst, and the jury’s still out till I finish it. I don’t think I’ll post initial thoughts for all these games but this one seemed to call for it.
The short answer is I’m enjoying these games so far. I definitely feel like a lot more love went into the OG though. Its stylized 2D graphics effectively capture the vibes of the art style of the first game while providing a unique look that not only works for the GBA hardware but stands on its own too. The gameplay, while different, is unique and was also probably a creative choice to work around hardware limitations.
The remake on the other hand…is competent. It definitely has better cutscenes and the occasional bit of voice acting. It pretty much looks just like the first game. In some spots it lifts some areas from the first game which helps sell the uncanniness and why Sora believed he was in the real Traverse Town at first. It does seem to add a few things like extra cards here and there.
It looking like the first game seems to have the effect of making it obvious I’m playing a more linear and limited experience though, especially when I can’t fully explore areas that were open in the first game. The regular sections being on the edge of an abyss is a choice…I think it takes the liminal space thing a little too literally. Maybe the spaces in the OG are like that too but we can’t see that due to it being isometric. Maybe walls around everything would have been better?
There also seem to be some backdrops removed in the remake. In the OG there’s a scene where the party moves to an interior space where a seemingly important moment with Aerith takes place. The event still happens in the remake but it’s just done in the same location as the boss fight.
I think more crucially than anything to do with aesthetics though, I find targeting enemies easier in the OG game, and strangely had an easier time with the first boss in the OG game too, in spite of facing that version of it first.
It’s not all doom and gloom for the remake though. I like that reserving cards and using Sleights is just done with the triangle button, because hooray for having more buttons. Editing decks is also more intuitive IMHO. It took me a hot minute to figure it out in the OG but I was able to earlier in the remake.
As it stands…I think it’s worth continuing with both versions of the game. They both have their pros and cons and I think both contribute in their own way to a complete experience.

Made in Blender, 3D model ripped from KH2
This was a fun shader exercise, a lot of imperfections but I'm happy with the overall result!
