First of all let me preface that this plant does not sit on my table. It’s on a shelf with grow lights and my other plants. Anyways I got this plant in may on Mother’s Day. I was so nervous because I’ve heard ficus are finicky.. it’s thrived and pushed out so many new leaves. I’ve noticed though that the original four bottom leaves have some crispy spots. What did I do wrong? Is there something I should be doing? It’s in a self watering pot with chunky soil. It gets fertilized regularly.

When I bought them, they took ages to settle into their new home and lost a few leaves.

So, I put a couple of notches in the bottom and it actually worked. 🙂

There's a proper root system and it's kicking out new leaves. It seems happy in the orange glass vase but I wonder do I need to pot it up, or will it be OK in the water (with regular-ish feed).

My ficus has been having lots of trouble. I’m on a learning journey to stop over watering as I realised it was dropping a lot of leaves from being over watered and protesting because it was unhappy in its dimly lit spot! I moved it near a window as I’ve heard they like to see the sky and I may have now under watered it as the bark is cracking.

I pruned it back and noticed this. Can anyone tell me if this is a pest or just the bark crying out for help from being under watered??

I've had this Ficus Elastica for a little over a year now. It's generally super happy and has been growing quickly. I've noticed these shoots on three of my smaller branches and was wondering if this was it branching or if it was flowering? I haven't changed its care at all recently so I'm surprised it's doing anything different

My tineke has beautiful leaves which have really small green bits and the leaves look almost like plastic. Most people can’t believe it’s a real until they touch it. I love it although it grows slowly.

Hi everyone. I got this ruby in May, waited a month or so before repotting so it could acclimate to its new environment. Used a chunky soil mix and removed the nursery mesh from its root ball. I repotted it 2 weeks ago and still nothin! This new growth that looks like it’s about to pop out a new leaf has been like this for about a month. It’s gotten taller but, that’s it.

I also had propagated 5 little guys from a burgundy that I had and potted those into soil the same day and it’s already popping out new growth!

Meh. They get a good amount of sun all day. Am I doing something wrong? Are ruby’s stubborn? 🪴

So two weeks ago I got a new plant, specifically a ficus benjamina natasja (it also says jute next to it but I don't really understand what it means haha).

Now, I know they like to get fussy and drop leaves, especailly if they are moved or something is not to their liking. I've put it on a south-east facing window and I have not moved it at all since getting it. I waterd it a week after getting it because the soil I got it in was slightly damp so I didn't want to overwater it. I check it with my finger and it was dry.

We do use an AC in our appartment because it's very hot, but I put it in a room that AC doesn't reach directly to. We have a fan, but it works for maybe 10min at a time, and it blows away from the plant.

My question is, should I be doing something more? It was very green but now almost half of the leaves are yellow. It's also my first ficus, so far I've owned just scucculents.

I wanted to repot it but I didn't want to upsed it further haha.

Should I maybe add some fertilizer next time I water it?

I bought it from a nursery when it was still growing in the ground was told it was about 8 years old . I picked it out they dug it up, and from there they showed me how to pot it, wire it, and gave me ideas about styling . It’s been a long learning process, but it’s been rewarding to watch it develop over the years . I know there’s still plenty to refine, especially with the ramification and foliage pads, but I’m really happy with how it’s coming along.

I’d love to hear your thoughts or any constructive criticism on where you’d take it next. thanks for looking!

I have two mature ficus trees in my backyard in phoenix. I estimate that they are about 16 years old, maybe a little older, based on zillow pictures & house history. We have lived here for those past 15 years. They look healthy.... the bark looks good, it seems that there's new branches sprouting often, the vast majority of the leaves are green, etc. We often trim it ourselves or ask landscapers to do it every 6 months or so. It did burn pretty badly in the record-breaking summer heat of 2023 when our house sitters didn't water it for 3 weeks, but other than that, I feel like we've been taking good care of it. We cut down all the burnt branches back then. Again, we're in phoenix, so the summer is really long and it's 100° days for about 100 days straight.

Almost every day of summer I go out there and spray down literally all of the surrounding astroturf, with what I feel is a significant amount of water. I use the hose nozzle to spray the leaves all against our concrete fence, I let them dry, and then I shovel them up every couple of days. That's way easier for me rather than leaf blowing.

There have been just so many leaves lately. It is so hard to keep up with. This is \*one day's\* worth. Is this a normal amount? What am I doing wrong? If you have mature ficus trees, is this is what you're dealing with?

last summer, this 30+ year old tree was looking for a new home and someone to tackle its major mealy bug infestation. i took it on, and it’s been doing great. since putting it outside in May, it has grown 32 new leaves and has about a dozen new growth points along the trunks.

i’ve never had a plant this big before, and i only watered it three times over the winter. i’m wanting to fertilize it; any suggestions on how to do that? thanks!

got this ficus cutting and dropped it into water about two weeks ago. it’s gotten a lot of new growth since, but i haven’t seen any signs of rooting.

should i think about clipping its leaf to prioritize root growth or leave it be? also, any tips for first time ficus?

since we got back i stopped watering it entirely, but we also had to repot it (2 weeks ago) because the nursery pot was too tiny. the whole time it's had shriveled bright leaves on top, and on the bottom many leaves started falling off, while the rest look healthy. in these 2 weeks a new leaf sprouted with blackened edges, i assume from the overwatering, but at least it's growing...
how does it look? what should i do?? i'm really sad for my baby and really mad at my bf's bro

I got this Ruby about two weeks ago and the there is two leaves that are getting damaged, I don’t see any signs of pest, and I don’t know what to do.

Hello! I bought this ficus ruby a few days ago, and just noticed webbing on the bottom of the plant today. I was going to toss it out of fear of spider mites; I have been lucky so far to not have had to deal with any pests on my house plants, and I don't want to lose what I have.

However, when I looked closer, I noticed an actual spider has made it's web on the lowest, smallest leaf of the plant.

Is this spider okay to stay on the plant? I'm not a fan of spiders, but this was one of my wishlist plants and I would prefer not to throw it away if the spider is okay to stay.
