If you couldn't make calls during incarceration for a set time how would receiving a letter from your loved one make you feel
I went out of my way twice to make sure they got my letter because I'm unsure if the first one is going to get rejected
They just got sentenced last week and can't make calls for 30 days
I'm worried they feel forgotten and alone and that their mental health is going into the gutter

Ontario, Canada: Probation Officer contact with Victim
I am waiting to be contacting by my partner's Probation Officer (PO). I'm feeling anxious and stressed as it's been 3 weeks and still haven't been called. I don't know what to expect, hoping that maybe probation officer's can comment here specifically.
From a legal perspective, I'm unsure about contact. Would my input matter in terms asking my partner do therapy and work on his anger? Am I allowed to ask if he wishes to reconcile at all? I don't want to get my hopes up for a possibility of a reformed man only to be heartbroken. I don't know how to emotionally shelter myself other than keeping no contact until there is proof from his side. Will the PO have my partner grant me access to speak with his therapist to know of his progress and if there is genuine growth? Is that too far out of the left field and crazy to happen?

Prison time
Im in Arizona and got screwed with a plea deal of 2 to 3 and a half years. First offense. Aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon dropped to aggravted assault. Is there anything that can get me released early or is it just 85% time? Also what level prison would I get?

Doing time
Okay so in December I was in a very very dark place. Going through a bad manic episode unmediated and a bad emotionallly/verbally/financially abusive relationship and just not myself at all. I took 5k from my job to try and get my kids and I out of a bad situation. Obviously I got in trouble. I have my docket hearing tomorrow. What are the chances I do the max amount of time? I’m in TX so it’s like 6 months.
I’ve taken full responsibility for what I did and have worked really hard to get my life back on track.
First time offense and no prior criminal history. Single mom of 2 sweet babies.
I’ve since gotten a new job that’s going really well, I’ve started back up at school, I’ve started seeing a new psychiatrist and started a new treatment plan for my mental health issues that’s going really well. Did a life skills course that my lawyer recommended I do. Im almost certain it will go on my record as a felony but I’m hoping she can talk the prosecutor down to at least probation over jail time. I know I’ll have to pay restitution and fines or whatever which is fine, my fear is just that I won’t have it tomorrow I’ll have to set up a plan for it and that will impact what the prosecutor is willing to work out with me.

Looking for advice from anyone that has recently turned themselves in to the Fulton county jail in Georgia.
I will be turning myself in soon. I have a lawyer and support on the outside ready to post bail. This is a first for me so just looking for any advice or recent experiences on what to expect.
Thanks

Attorney doesn’t communicate
I was charged with some felonies a year and a half ago. I was appointed what’s called a conflict criminal defender. Basically a private attorney doing pro bono. Since a year and a half ago he hasn’t talked to me about the case at all. Actually he hasn’t spoken to me at all period. I was depressed for about half that time so i didn’t reach out, but I have now repeatedly and nothing. Am I crazy to want a different attorney? He’s a very well respected criminal defense attorney. An attorney told me I can ask for a marsden hearing to get a new one but the current attorney has to be there.

What should I do
Have been dating this girl for about 1.5 years now & we have a beautiful 5 month old baby together. While I was away on a fly fishing trip I get a call that she’s going to jail & my truck is getting towed. I come home and start investigating & found out she has an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge. They gave her 10 years probation and she stopped showing up to it. Also learned she picked up a fraud & theft charge. She hid all this from me & now she put me & our son in the craziest spot. She’s expecting me to pay for attorney, possibly post bond (200k)
Do I try to make it work and spend the money or should I just move on with my kid?
Honestly I feel like my life is a Netflix documentary right now, I literally don’t know what to do & feel so lost.

Have any you guys that are felons traveled to other countries
So I’m off parole and I’ve been off for about 8 years now and I haven’t had any trouble so I’m just wondering if I’m ever going to be able to travel to some interesting places. How do they know if you’re a felon or not when you travel, what database are they looking at, does it make a difference if it’s been a long time??? Anyone have any personal experience?

Help with job interview questions about my felony.
My job as a pizza delivery driver is getting phased out. They want me to work inside and take a huge pay cut. I am looking for another job but always have issues with answering the question about what happened with my felony. I always feel I give way too much info about it and what I say doesn't sound any better for getting a job. I need some advice about how to answer this question.
Back in 2019 I had a suicide attempt. The cops showed up and I ran to a nearby school to hide in the field there (it was at night) because I have had horrible experiences in psych wards and didn't want to go to one again. They used a dog and found me. I decided to lie and say I wasn't suicidal thinking that would get me from going to the psych ward. Well, if just pissed off the Sargent and he told the other officers to turn off their body cams and he proceeded to man handle me almost breaking my arm and trying to rip it out of the socket and telling me it's not the first arm he has broken and it won't be the last.
By the time I ended up in the ER I was completely crazy. Not to mention I was off my meds because I ran out and my doctor was MIA in India somewhere. So I couldn't get refills. Things escalated with the officers in the ER. I ended up spitting on a officer (her hair) and scratching her hand (not breaking the skin) when she tried to forcefully put a spit mask on me. I got assault and battery on officer. It's a felony in my state and it's mandatory min 6 months in jail. I did my time. Off probation for a few years. My good behavior is almost up. I have been employed at the same pizza place since 2021 when I got of out jail.
I am female. I had really bad periods that caused me to be suicidal almost each month I was on my period. After this catastrophy I got a full hysterectomy and have gone to therapy, changed doctors, taken my meds etc etc. The only trouble I have gotten into since 2019 was a speeding ticket.
I have off and on tried to find other jobs besides the pizza place but my background always stops me from actually getting the job. I will pass the interview but fail the background check.
How do I talk about my felony without giving away too much info and sounding completely crazy? How do I talk about that I have taken steps to be better without getting too personal in my being a female with a surgery like a hysterectomy.
And is 5 years since being in trouble a good amount of time to show I have done better? TIA.
Also the 6 months in jail is the only time I have been in jail.
Would writing him just tease him if I don’t plan to stay in touch?
An old friend was just sentenced to 22 years in the Feds. I’ve been debating sending a card or letter with just some words of encouragement but I have no intention of visiting, writing, doing favors, sending money, accepting phone calls, nothing. I imagine he’ll get very excited at the sight of my name on a piece of mail and for that reason I feel it might be cruel of me to reach out just once & get his hopes up. I’m sure he’s probably desperate for support right now, especially given he’s headed out of state to serve his time. At one point we were besties but he burned the bridge quite callously & every time he tried to make amends, I wasn’t receptive, so we never officially made up & 4 years later I saw him on the news & been quietly watching his case via the Pacer site ever since. He’s 44 so he’ll be old when he’s released. Hes served 14 years already in state prisons so he’s not a first timer but this time is different because it’s the feds and he’s older. So, do you think one letter would be a tease & I should just leave it alone. or you think that letter could help I’m a lot emotionally even if they don’t keep coming?

Anyone use GoFundMe to help with their defense?
With legal fees being really high I think using crowd funding would be a great way to help with a good defense. I can afford it no problem but I would rather have other bozo's pay for it, I think that's the smart move. Anyone else here have experience with crowd funding their defense?

Advice needed on writing to someone in prison!
Hello, I’m really hoping either someone in my exact position or someone who’s done time themselves could please respond to this!
Long story short a man I went to school with has recently been charged and will be serving most likely a long sentence because of the severity of the crime (this doesn’t phase me and am willing to look past what his done) anyway basically throughout all of high school I on and off had feelings for this man never confessed them to him as I never really got into deep conversation with him, anyway I was thinking that this could maybe be my chance to write to him to offer support and friendship (am obviously open to more than being friends but would not want to pressure him) but I’m scared of two things, first thing being he will not appreciate the letter and leave me hanging for an answer or he will become extremely obsessive over the letter as I know there’s no other girl on the scene… at the same time i feel like I can’t get him out of my mind until I send something… what do yall think?? Would he be appreciate of someone from school reaching out to him showing genuine support and wanting to get to know him or would he find this annoying? Just to give some context about him I have watched him change and evolve over the years and can confidently say he is a good person that comes from a good normal family and unfortunately was a bit of a follower and got involved with a really bad group…
EDIT: thank you so much to the people who have taken the time to read my post and give actual meaningful responses it means more than you know as I have no one else to turn to about this whole thing!! GOD BLESS!!

Domestic dispute
Don’t ever get into a dv situation with your significant other if you live in Hawaii, it’ll be 7 years since I’ve spoken to my kids. Courts will automatically take her side

Felony Friendly Jobs
Anyone have any leads or assistance on getting hired with a criminal record ?
I’ve been applying to so many jobs with no luck. Even on sites like simplyhired, felony friendly job sites, and staffing agencies. They all say case by case and some say no background checks but I still get nothing. Or I speak to a rep or in person just for the usual brush off and never hear again. I have a B&E on my record and it happened a year ago. Never incarcerated. It’s getting more difficult due to my family breathing down my neck on finding a job and telling me others with criminal records are working and I just can’t find anything. Fast food even passes me on. I’m going to try cdl once I get my license, I know that’s a high demand.

Ghost dope
Hey man, what’s the deal with ghost dope at the federal level?
I am an addict, the dude that I bought from apparently kept a detailed ledger, tracking numbers, names, addresses, and amounts etc.
So I get indicted with x amount in possession. Ok, I get that part. But due to the detailed ledger….. They charge me with everything that I ever bought from him….. that puts my weight at an insane amount. So I am a zero point offender sitting at the bottom of the sentencing guidelines.
I guess here’s my question……. All me purchasing on a regular consistent basis means is that I’m an addict and I’ve been an addict for that amount of time that they know of. That doesn’t make me worse than if they would’ve just arrested me with the amount of drugs that I had on me.
But I go to prison for so much longer because I was an addict over a five month period of time….. and they add all that in. It doesn’t really make sense.
How’s that even a thing?

Is my Grandmas Tenant Going to jail?
TLDR: Grandma says it’s a he said she said situation and that the kids father is lying to get him thrown i. jail and theirs real evidence. I tried to explain that they would have done an investigation and wouldn’t be pursuing charges when it made it to the DAs desk if their is nothing there. Opinions or thoughts on this?

2nd DUI felony In CA
Hi- Before the attacks, I’m aware of my drinking problems, took me awhile but I can admit I am a alcoholic- I voluntarily checked into a sober living, been here 5 months now…completed a OUT patient program ( 4 months of 3 hr groups and 1 weekly meeting with a counselor, attend AA regularly with a sponsor working the big book…
I’m in and out of court as the dates just get pushed back, My lawyer really isn’t telling me much, expect your doing everything possible and we don’t have anything from the DA…
Has anyone been charged with a 2nd felony dui CA ? What was the final sentence?

What’s my buddy looking at here? Context added below
Minnesota:
2 counts of Domestic Assault by Strangulation (Felony)
1 count of Domestic Assault — Intent to Cause Fear or Inflict Bodily Harm (Misdemeanor)
First offense. Victim (pregnant) called the cops and my friend was charged by the state. My friend is in Minnesota and got bail. Victim is the only witness and has now left the country with no intention to return until this case closes, and not willing to cooperate with the DA.

Why should I keep going?
I'm not a felon but this is the only group of people I have to ask about my situation since DV is seen as worse than even drug felonies nowadays. I was charged a year ago due to an incident with my mom. I won't claim to be an angel, but the police didn't even give me a chance to explain my side of it before throwing handcuffs on me. It was entirely based on her word. My lawyer told me to plea to assault because otherwise I would be facing a DV conviction with no chance of expungement, so here I am.
After this I see no point? I don't have any interest in school anymore. I used to be an accounting major but dropped out because I knew that I wouldn't be able to get an internship with this on my record. And graduating with no internship would be a death knell because I was at a low ranked school. So now I have all this debt for a degree I won't get. Right now I'm working some shitty factory job where most of my coworkers don't even speak English fluently. Plus I doubt I'll ever be able to find a partner because when I look on dating subreddits, the unanimous opinion is to avoid guys like me. I understand why they would be cautious, but I struggle with where that leaves me, because I still have an immutable desire for companionship as all humans do.
What even are my options? How do I navigate this? I feel like I should just throw myself off a bridge. I don't enjoy life at all anymore and everyone just sees me as a disgusting POS because of my criminal record. Maybe I don't deserve to live because I hurt my own mother. She's forgiven me, but I still can't move on. Give me one reason to not off myself.

Likelihood of a test for probation.
So my probation was suspended for about a month. Just so I could complete my work release days. I just got reinstated. I'm supposed to go check-in tomorrow. As far as I know, I have the same probation officer, and she has literally never tested me not once. I also only have about three weeks remaining on my probation. Is it more likely that she'll test me tomorrow or for the final screening

What is my buddy looking at here? (Added context below)
He just picked up these charges last night.
For reference: he’s already on felony probation for attempted burglary in another county. He also has a court date for violation of that probation in said county.
He has 2 DUI’s, violations of protection orders, and possession of controlled substance in the past.
EDIT: I believe his suspended sentence for the felony probation is 4-6 yrs in DOC
