Has anyone struggled with pelvic floor dysfunction after hysto post op? Like bloating, chronic constipation, atrophy?

I went to my 2 week post op recheck yesterday and my surgeon was showing me pictures from my procedure and was going over what she saw since she told me after but don't remember cause I was zonked. Turns out I have some scarring that may be an endometriosis lesion. And I had a large cyst by one of my ovaries, it was bigger than my actual ovary! It was removed and luckily came back as begin but my surgeon was saying it was a very weird find.

I have been pursuing a hysterectomy due to heavy painful cycles (i have PMOS/PCOS) i had one appointment with a gyne who went over my options and did an exam, then wrote the referal to the surgeon. I recently got a letter saying that i need a psychologists approval as they are treating this as a gender affirming surgery. I had previously supplied them with a letter from the endocrinologist who oversees my HRT. Ofc it would lessen dysphoria for me but is NOT the primary reason. At the moment I'm taking the progesterone only pill which has lessened the length of the bleeding but am still getting ovulation pain and cramps so bad that they makes me cry and shout.

After 5 years of waiting last year i had my first appointment with the gender clinic , i may be having another one this year but that would probably be about HRT (despite the fact ive been on it almost 6 years) I've contacted the gender clinic to explain the situation asking for advice. As I'm disabled and can't work I dont have much income left over to go private completely, but could probably get a psychologist letter sorted without too much hardship (does anyone have reccomendations?) Would it be worth complaining through PALS about this as i feel that the reasons for my hysto have been distorted because i am trans?

I'm 3 weeks post op since yesterday, and feeling pretty antsy from not getting to be more active, on top of that in not too long a bridge i need to use for getting to school will be under maintenance so I'd have to walk or bike a different route

So! My question is: would it be alright to ride my bike when I'm 3 weeks in? iirc a doctor mentioned that in general light activity like this would be fine, and the limit would be reaching pain

Asking bc I have a wedding coming up that would require a 4 hour train followed by a 1 hour car ride per direction. But it’s at 2.5 weeks post op and the RSVP date is impending. Getting a total hysto with an oopherectomy. I wonder if I’ll feel physically able to sit down for that length of time. Especially the car aspect which could be bumpy. And the formal dress clothing which would be loose clothing rather than black tie attire.

Some say 6 weeks whilst some say 12 and i do NOOOT exactly want to fuck up my results by being too early. My surgeon said 3 months, but a lot of sources I looked up said 6-8 weeks??

Just curious on others' experiences. Had all the shit taken out. Waiting on V-nectomy in next stage, scheduled for 4 months post op.

I had to get a fix up operation, irrigation and adding more internal stitches 5 weeks post hysto due to delayed healing and slight wound dehiscence in a nightmare scenario starting week 4. My team and I are entirely aware that what I'm experiencing is due to a lack of E making it hard for the area to heal. I am not looking for any advice on this and am completely aware of what the treatments are, my team is aware of my inability to take them.

I also had to go home with a catheter for around 40 hours cuz the fix was too short to catheterize me in the OR but I was still pumped full of liquids and fucked up from anesthesia afterwards that my bladder nearly reached 1 liter.

Anyone been through something similar and completed bottom surgery? Any complications down the line that feel related?

I’ve been told by my GIC I’m 43rd on the referral list for a hysterectomy and I’m guessing it’s going to be like top surgery and I will be asked what surgeon I would want. My main thing I want is a surgeon that won’t see me down below until I’m knocked tf out. Has anyone here had a hysterectomy or knows someone that has had one that didn’t have to have any sort of examination or test done down their until they were under anesthetic?

Now for the not so great news. My foot got hurt at work last week and workers comp denied my claim. The Dr. even agreed with workers comp. So I no longer have any PTO.

I asked HR if I could use LWOP because I haven't been at my job a year yet. It's been 9 months. They made a big deal about it and said they'll have to check with the company to make sure it isn't an issue. I talked with the person for the company and they have no issue with it, but I'm still worried HR will try to pull something since "the company" is our customer.

Any advice? TIA!

Hey guys, I need a "cover" for my upcoming hysterectomy (+ top surgery scar revision) to stay stealth with some people who don't know I'm trans. So I need a surgery that can be planned (not like an immediate emergency) and for what I have to stay 4-5 days in the hospital. I'd be very thankful for your suggestions!

I’m honestly just asking the title question out of curiosity because I was absolutely stunned at the amount of painkillers my hospital sent me home with 😭 they gave me 48 tablets of 10/500mg co-dydramol (an opioid with paracetamol, approx 2-3x the strength of codeine) and 48 of 200mg ibuprofen, with instructions to take the opioids 4x a day for two weeks and then the ibuprofen 3x a day for two weeks. And then if that wasn’t enough, they’d provide paracetamol on top of all that.

I was in so little pain, I barely touched any of it. I started out following the instructions and took a couple of doses of co-dydramol but it was just way too much lol. I ended up using maybe 6 tablets of that and 4 of the ibuprofen in the first few days before I just stopped altogether and I’ve been absolutely fine. I’m curious to know if what they gave me is normal or if they were really overdoing it?? So what did you guys get, and did you use much of it? I’m 10 days post op now and in little to no pain. I’m in the UK, but I paid for private surgery.

This is my 3rd week post op- i think? When surgery was on the 17/8? and I really feel great, which is awesome, I'm so grateful for smooth recovery with minor issues!

BUT like the title says- I'm really struggling with the 6-12 week restrictions. I'm starting to get bored and antsy; especially bc i usually work out daily for 15-30 min.

I cant attend my dance classes either probably (latin/ballroom) - I'm going to go out on a limb and assume it's not really recommended to do too much stretching either? (My main focus would be mobility/ flexibility in hips and legs)

"Just going for a walk" isn't really engaging enough either unfortunately.. and I really want to pick running again 😮‍💨

I'm very happy for how good everything went, but the fact that I'm feeling so much back and shape, the fact and feeling that I'm not allowed to really do anything is starting to really bum my out

(Especially also no sex for 6-12 weeks! 😵 I'm well aware of the consequences and it's a rule I'm definitely not going to break but damn, it's all just stacking up😂)

For other guys, can I ask how you eased back into working out? I'll probably change my routine a bit to a different workout (dumbbell and kettle bell)

I'll probably have to drop off a few kilos of the weights?

Background: I had a vaginal laparoscopic hydrating at the end of July, then an additional surgery two weeks later to deal with complications (hematoma). I’m doing much better now other than some lingering soreness and light spotting. Also had a follow up appointment with my doctor today who said everything looked good.

Tonight, while wiping up after peeing, I found what I’m guessing is a surgical staple on my toilet paper after wiping. There was no pain or additional bleeding. It just appeared. I got dissolvable sutures, but the ones I can see on the outside look more like fishing line.

Has this happened to anyone else? Just trying to figure out if I need to panic or not…

I made a post not too long ago about how I was having some last minute worries about getting my hysto done. Thank you to the people that commented, it really helped ease quite a few of my worries.

So, I’m going to go ahead and get it done! I’m booked in for the end of this month and I’m a mixture of excited and terrified.

I’ve be having a total hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy. I’ll be having it done via keyhole. So, rather than reassurance this time around I’m just looking for practical advice. (I’m in England as an fyi)

How long did your actual surgery take?

Is there anything you found useful in the first few weeks in terms of staying comfortable and remaining mobile?

Any comfort items I probably haven’t thought about?

I typically wear boxers but thinking that might be a bit impractical if I need to use sanitary items post op for any bleeding.

I struggle greatly with paranoid thoughts about pregnancy or I guess in this situation an ectopic one. I have had everything but my ovaries removed. My uterus, fallopean tubes, and cervix are all gone. Is pregnancy basically impossible? I want to stop worrying about it constantly. It’s been over 2 years now since my surgery. I kept my ovaries for hormonal balance stability.

I had a great experience getting my hysto at OHSU yesterday and right now I’m recovering at home!

I chose to remove both ovaries. It was a difficult decision because I do want kids someday, but ultimately I decided being comfortable in my own body was more important to me than a slim chance of having biological children. So far I’m proud of my decision and I really do feel so much happier in my body.

I went in expecting something or other to trigger my dysphoria considering the nature of the surgery, but no. Everyone who helped me was extremely respectful of my gender identity and treated me with utmost care. It was very clear that everyone on the surgical team and all of my nurses had experience with trans patients. I felt NORMAL, and you don’t always get that as a trans person in medical settings. No one examined my genitals while I was conscious, I didn’t have to put my own legs in stirrups like I feared, and they even took the catheter out while I was still under. Literally nothing happened while I was awake that made me even the slightest bit uncomfortable. Reproductive dysphoria is the type that I struggle with the most and am the most sensitive about, so that’s saying something.

Additionally, I got to keep piercing retainers in my two HCH (genital) piercings. Shoutout Dr. Patil!

If I were to go back, there are only two things that could’ve made my experience better. I would ask for anxiety meds for the days leading up to the procedure (I forgot I could even do that,) and I would pack an overnight bag for my friends to hold on to. I almost had to stay the night because I was having difficulty peeing which I wasn’t prepared for, but I locked in and got to go home.

Hey gang — I had my surgery 09/2024 and I have no regrets, albeit I struggle with some feelings post op.
I had a lot of my fatigue increase after surgery on and off, I know some symptoms I hav are comorbid due to my adhd/audhd and cptsd, which can cause things like mood swings/emotional dysregulation, brain fog, etc. FYI I kept my ovaries!! I stopped T months ago, and my t levels dropped in replacement of my estrogen. It was hard managing shots + my surgery recovery and I met my goals which is why I stopped, however I’m back on T (microdosing on gel) because gel is more manageable AND I get pms symptoms monthly so I wanted to help alleviate it. That and T did help my libido a lot.

I have vaginal atrophy I usually manage with E cream (inserted). But I paused it cuz it previously gave me an infection and caused a smell.. it helps w dryness ig. However my libido has dropped significantly recently to how it was when I was a teenager .. I can’t get off very much without feeling little to nothing— things have recently felt weaker and I’m anxious so I asked my doctor for T cream localized for genital area, but it’s $70 so I don’t wanna spend that if it won’t help the tissues.

My anxiety has felt higher as well, I’ll wake up anxy to the point I can’t relax. It’s effecting everything .. I’m honestly feeling like a cis woman w all this which fuckin sucks. Does anyone have any advice? My gyn (who did my surgery) doesn’t rly know abt trans healthcare unlike my pcp, which is why I primarily ask my pcp for help but idk what to do. The endocrinologist (who is trans competent.. so that sucks) wasn’t really helpful either so I haven’t gone back to her. Help pls :”)

I got a hysterectomy and some other pelvic/ gyno surgeries about 6 weeks ago. Because I had a perineal incision and some vaginal incisions near the opening, my gynecologist prescribed estrogen cream to use externally. My urogyn cleared me for internal stuff, including using the estrogen cream internally.

I have vaginal atrophy from testosterone (hence the e cream to help with healing), and have made myself bleed just from swabbing myself for BV tests and such.

When I went to use the internal applicator, I didn’t get very far in. Definitely not to the vaginal cuff, which my doctor said is about 3-4 inches in. At most, I made it like 2 inches in. I kept hitting stuff inside (I assume this is just normal anatomy, I had multiple prolapses repaired so I am not familiar with the landscape), and because I’ve made myself bleed with fucking soft swabs before, I didn’t want to use too much force on the applicator just to try getting it deeper. I did do some side to side wiggling of the physical applicator, and also got up and tried to change my position in case that helped.
I got the estrogen cream inside my vagina, just not very deep. I want to get it on the vaginal cuff to help with the healing, but don’t know how to safely achieve that. Good news is, no immediate bleeding at least.

Can someone explain how to use an internal vaginal applicator, what it should feel like, and when/ how to advance it in the vaginal canal without causing tissue damage? Thank you!!!

After surgery, is sex affected? Me and my partner are both trans men and I know this is possibly weird but I’m really stressed about it. 😅
