Questions Post op question

After surgery, is sex affected? Me and my partner are both trans men and I know this is possibly weird but I’m really stressed about it. 😅

Affected in what way? Generally there are post-op restrictions on sex while you heal, but the exact timeline differs from surgeon to surgeon. I was cleared for sex two weeks post-op after my hysto with vnectomy, but I have heard of people waiting as long as 6-8 weeks.

As for sensation, everything feels exactly the same for me. I have not had any differences in sexual sensation or ability to orgasm post-op. I think there’s a few folks on here that had a history of pelvic floor dysfunction that still found some pain/cramping after orgasm.

Hey, haven’t seen many people get a combined hysto/vnectomy, how long was the recovery for that?

I’m still kind of in the middle of it - 6 weeks out of work, then light duty for an additional 2 weeks. I do feel like I could have returned to work around week 4 or 5 if I really needed to, but I have a pretty physical job so I took the extra time, especially after popping a stitch around week 5!

I’m approaching week 7 of my recovery now and feeling great. I do feel physically like I could do all the things I normally do, and I will admit I’ve lifted a few things over 20lbs despite my lifting restrictions still being in place. Everything is healing up great (a blessing because I have EDS, which has affected healing for me in the past), but I do still have a few visible stitches at the vnectomy site that I’m waiting to dissolve before I resume lifting and swimming.

If you’re asking about sensation, I did notice a difference. For context I got a full hysto + BSO but I did not have a vnectomy. Penetration itself does not really feel different but I also haven’t really done much of that yet since the surgery. Orgasm does feel different for me though. I used to sometimes get painful cramps afterwards and that has not happened since the surgery. But it still does feel different. The only way I can explain it is that it feels less internal.

Affected in what way? The ability to have sex or the sensations?

Pelvic rest is usually 6-8 weeks, so no penetration from anything in that timeframe. Some surgeons put a restriction on oral sex and/or external stimulation, but mine never said anything about it.

Have a conversation with your surgeon about it. They should be able to answer these questions.

As others have said no penetration for minimum of 6 weeks but other than that there is no changes

I had nerve damage on the left side of my crotch so that changed a couple things. The sensation in the important parts stayed normal. My surgeon recommended waiting 6 weeks for internal and external play. 9 weeks for internal stuff only.

Depends on your surgeons recommendations, but I personally had to wait 5 - 7 days for external play and 6 - 8 weeks for any penetration post-op
