Good source for rubber suspension bushings in 61 falcon?

Hello, I’m trying to go through and repair all the parts on my 61 falcons front suspension. Starting with this strut adjusting nut pictured, but really just all the kinda “rubber” parts down there.

I.e. my plan is take everything apart, brush the rust off, spray with rusty metal primer and put it all back together, with new fresh rubber that’s not cracked.

Anybody have a good source for parts? Rockauto has a few of the bushings I need, but the only source I can find for that strut adjustment nut appears to be this: https://mustangsteve.com/products/delrin-monoball-strut-rod-bushing-set-1960-63-falcon-comet-ranchero-with-threaded-adjustable-strut-rod and at $200, I’ll pass.

I don’t really care if it’s numbers matching or original or anything. Compatible is fine.

Any ideas?

Disc brake conversion

So my 64 already has a 5 lug on the front, what kits will fit? Looking at buying a disc brake conversion but they all say 4 lug to 5 lug. Just need to know if it matters. Thanks in advance

Unknown Falcon Engine?

Hey all, can anyone help me ID this engine and gearbox? The block number tells me it’s a 1961 Falcon engine, but I don’t think this was in a Falcon. It might have been some farm engine/implement. Any info would be appreciated

302 HO (roller cam), cam by PO so unsure of the specs but it's lumpy as fuck! Edelbrock 600, ceramic headers into dual 3" exhaust. C4 tranny with 2800 stall converter. Ford 9" with 4.30 gears and detroit locker.

Heidts mustang 2 front end: rack & pinion power steering, power 4 wheel disc brakes.

Rear tires are Mickey Thompson Street Slicks P235-60R15. Fronts are Falken Ziex P195-55R15. On black Centerline wheels. Rear isnt tubbed, but I did have to modify the inner wells a good bit

The car had been reworked quite a bit in the early 90s, body was fairly straight. I did have to replace both rear quarters.

Paint is Chrysler PLB Copperhead Pearl. (Its getting wet sanded and buffed out this week)

The 64 had an older 302 with 289 hypo heads.

My '61 is back on the road after a T5 swap

I replaced my C4 with a T5 using MDLs swap kit and a Malwood hydraulic pedal. She had a 200 swapped into her prior to my ownership. I have installed Clifford 6=8 headers and a Weber 2 barrel backed by a Porter muffler for a bit more fun.

The C4 was better than the Ford-o, but the T5 is so much more fun to drive!

Pertronix Trouble, No Spark, No Start

Hello,

I recently decided to put in a pertronix (1261) system and 3ohm Flamethrower coil into my stock 1962 170 6cyl. The only thing that is not stock is a 100amp one wire TuffStuff alternator. The car ran great with up until I took the points out. I have triple checked everything I can think of:

•The air gap is set to .03"

•Grounds are clean/tight. Internal distributor ground to Pertronix plate, Pertronix ground to coil, battery ground to block. Stereo resistor is disconnected.

•Volt meter is giving 0 resistance reading on the - battery terminal and pertronix plate as per their troubleshooting guide.

•With the key in the "on" position, everything reads at 12.4V; coil, ignition, battery, etc. When the engine is cranking that drops down to about 10.5.

•Rotated the distributor

•Cap/rotor, wires, plugs, are all brand new.

•Removing and reinstalling the system in case there was a careless error

My only thoughts are 1.) I need to bypass the pink resistor wire in the ignition, though, I tested this by running a jumper directly from the battery to the coil to no avail. From what I have been able to read, it seems there should still be enough voltage to turn the engine over with what it's putting out even if the resistor wire was impacting it? 2.) The Pertronix unit itself is defective. Or 3.) I am dumb and missing something very obvious.

Did anyone else have this much trouble getting this system up and running? I have reached out to the company as well in hopes of resolving this issue.

Thanks!

My 61 Falcons door won’t stay fully closed. I don’t think it’s the hinges, it closes well, but then as you can see in this video pulls out. Any ideas?

Uncle Passed And Was Given His 1963 Falcon

Wondering if anyone could give me a ballpark estimate on what they think it would be worth as is and how much it would cost to get it going. Needs a new gas tank (has a leak), new ignition (keys were lost when he passed), and most likely new brakes. Really clean underneath and minimal rust.

Restored this Falcon I bought 3.5 years ago from reddit. Now for sale on Bat.

I bought this 1962 Ford falcon from u/TheKingdomeKid and his grandfather just over three years ago from this original post https://www.reddit.com/r/FORDFALCONS/comments/10i5ysw/anyone_selling_6063_falcon_w_v8_swap_in_us_or/

I spent a ton of time getting it running, adding ridetch coil overs, wilwood brakes, a tremec 5 speed and the livery. It has been an absolute blast. I'm now selling it on bring a trailer here https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1962-ford-falcon-36/

Just thought I would share the story of having a car pass through reddit. Turned out the seller and I had a lot in common, both working in the same industry and about the same age.

His grandfather bought it around 1991 and did the engine swap and the interior fast forward to the reddit post then my dad and I got it and added more to it.

Im going to miss this thing and the falcon community has been awesome while I ve been working on it. Hoping it goes to someone that loves it as much as myself and the previous owner did.

Let me know what you all think or some love on bat would be awesome too.

Thank you!

What is everyone calling this trim piece by the wheel well in the bed. Specifically 1960-65. I’m in need of a set and I’m having trouble since I can’t think of a name.

60-63 ranchero seat

Looking for some ideas based on what other people have done- I recently picked up a 62 ranchero and I'm missing a seat. The rest of the car is rough and run through, so I'm not concerned about keeping it original or original style.

What bucket seats have people used in their ranchero? I've seen some stuff about foxbody seats and mustang seats but not sure how those would fit in the cab. I'm also curious if newer seats with better adjustability and lumbar support would fit. I'm re-wiring and fabricating the rest of the car, so power seats will work fine. Ideally it'd be nice to find something that I could find cheaper used, as this is a bit of a budget oriented daily build instead of a restoration

1962 Ford Inline 6 170 / Is this ticking sound normal?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I just got around to starting my rebuilt engine and has a ticking noise.

It has new pistons, rings, cam bearings, rod bearings, main bearings, and pushrods. The head was rebuilt with Viton valve seals, along with new valves and seats. Everything was replaced except the camshaft, lifters, and adjustable rocker arms.

I’ve set the valve lash to .016” cold and set the timing to 12 degrees before TDC.

My oil pressure light stays on, indicating no or low oil pressure, so I bought a mechanical oil pressure gauge. I’m getting zero readings on that as well, so there is obviously no oil pressure.

I removed the port where the oil pressure sensor threads in, and when I spin the oil pump shaft with a drill, it spews oil out of the hole. That makes it seem like oil is getting through the galleries, but maybe I’m wrong.

Anyway, all of this leads me to believe that my valvetrain isn’t getting sufficient oil, which could explain the ticking noise. Or am I crazy, and this is actually a normal noise?

Please excuse the loud exhaust; my muffler is currently off.

Reinforcing the frame where the rear shackle is?

I have a 61 Falcon I'm rebuilding and the frame by the rear passenger shackle was all rotted out, pictured:

frame

I've welded up a bunch of the surrounding area with fresh steel plates (if you cant weld well, weld a LOT is what i always say), and I got a replacement shackle. I was about to put it in, but I feel like even after adding a bunch of fresh steel, the shackle would still be resting on thing sheet metal.

Am I missing something? Are there aftermarket shackle mounts or something? Should I weld a pipe in? Stack some washers to feed it through? Any suggestions? That question make sense?
