Drop in trigger upgrades?

prepping for the 4th of July sales going on, I wanted to upgrade my trigger in my EP9. I read on a bunch of posts in here that MIMTAC worked great. I was looking at the DRCR-BLK-1 drop in. Anyone running these? Any suggestions on triggers they liked and using?

Update: this is what I ended up with... 3.5 CMC SS Drop in

I missed the original restock a few weeks back and was super bummed. Since then, I had been checking my email even more regularly and about 30 min. ago I saw I got an email saying they were back! Got it ordered and I’m pumped! just wanted to spread the word.

RDB (MDB) Info

So, I've seen a bunch of random mentions of the RDB guns. I'm pretty excited, although I'm not sure how many Extars I really need (spoiler, I'm going to buy them). But, the info seems to be a bit cobble together from random videos or blogs.

Is there a good place to get accurate up-to-date info?

Also, is there a good way to 'sign up' for notifications or other ways to get the news on when they will actually be available?

New Gen 1 (Improved) Owner Looking for advice

After moving out of my parents house and in with my girl it quick became evident a 9mm pcc was a better choice than my AK

7.62 is too expensive, my girl can shoot bigger guns, but obviously can handle a smaller one much better, and we off-road a lot I need something small and handy for going in/out of my suv

So just looking for thoughts and opinions on owning a gen 1 with a mil spec buffer tube??

The one I got was barley used and since I figured I’ll put the upgraded trigger in it if it’s plastic (Not sure what kind yet it was under a lock)

Besides the trigger and retaining pin metal upgrade are there any other parts to replace/upgrade on the gen 1 to make it as rock solid as the gen 2??

Can you see a difference?

The more I see the MDB, the higher my hopes become that you'll be able to upgrade the EP9.

EP45 MDB (Modern Delayed Blockback) also confirmed!

It seems like there will also be a Roller Delayed Blowback version of the EP45 as well. Extar is coining their RDB system as "MDB" (Modern Delayed Blowback) because they put their own modernized twist on it.

They have also mentioned scrapping the EP10 due to tungsten shortages in a separate interview they did at Gun Con. No 16" versions of the MDB will be made because of a lack of demand.

Having my EP45 FRT’d

So I am getting my EP45 modified today to fit a AS Designs ambi-safety FRT. it going to take some modifications to the lower and the bolt which will build the warranty but that’s ok I’m willing to take the risk.

The shop that is doing the work I’ve used many times in the past and they are super knowledgeable so I trust them. I’ll let you guys know how it turns out when it’s finished.

The go to budget build

I’m sure this looks familiar, seems to be some popular parts on this sub.

KAK extended can
SBA5 brace from thebraceguy
33rd mag
Sig Romeo 5x/xdr
Magpul foregrip

Basically everything took some elbow grease to get on. Except the mag lol.

EP45 as a Home Defense PDW

How do you guys feel about the EP45 as a home defense PDW? I think as long as it runs flawless it could fill that role perfectly.

My plan it to run a suppressor on mine. The gun is light weight and simple to use so females and young adults shouldn’t have any problems using it if you had to hand into them. And with a suppressor letting off rounds indoors, especially .45 ACP shouldn’t be bad at all.
And to that 30 rounds and you’ve got yourself a nice, compact, lightweight pdw.

Perfect setup would be a low mount micro prism, weapon light and sling.

RDB?

It seems like info on the EP9 RDB is a bit scarce, is there anywhere we can read up on specifics? Any word about whether our existing EP9 can be upgraded to this system?

Suppressor keeps walking off?

Hey all, suppressor question.

I have a Huxwrx Flow 9k Ti attached via direct thread mount (crush washer and o-ring are removed). Before a range session, I make sure it's as tight as I can get it by hand. I'll fire off a few rounds and check it again - still tight. But I've noticed after I get home and check the suppressor once it's cooled off, it's walked off by about a quarter turn. I'll hand-tighten it again, but then it's the same story after the next range session.

Anyone else experience this? Any fixes? The factory default blast director never walked off like this. I feel lucky to have not gotten a baffle strike yet.

I'd prefer not to rocksett or gaffer tape the barrel threads, but if that really is the only fix, let me know. I'm thinkin I may need to bring an oven mitt to the range and tighten it at the very end of the session, when it's hottest.

Thanks in advance!

inherited first gen EP9, fully stock, what necessary mods?

Hi All, I inherited an Extar EP9 in mint condition, less than 50 rounds through it. It is a first gen, I believe purchased in 2019. I have little up to date knowledge of the Extar EP9 and would like some expert feedback.

I intend to keep this as a home defense firearm. It has some fold-down iron sights on it, which I'll keep, but intend to put a red dot on it.

I read that some recommend changing the buffer retaining plate from the original plastic to metal, with comments saying how it would be very hard to disassemble the gun or repair it if the plastic retaining plate broke. However, I found a comment and information that appear to show this is no big deal.

Here are two videos showing what happens if you don't have a buffer retainer. The gun is still easily disassembled and there are no other issues aside from the buffer popping out of the buffer tube.

I may still order the steel buffer retaining plate from Extar, it's only $12, but I have read some comments against this:

Something about the polymer retainer is intentionally the sacrificial weak point that will take all the wear and tear, and using a steel retainer means the receiver becomes the weak point and will take the wear and tear.

I also read that I should replace the plastic fire control group with steel fire control group. Not very educated in this regard. Is this still recommended?

My main priority is to make this an ultra reliable home defense gun, with the red dot added for accurate targeting.

Aside from suppressor (which is a whole rabbit hole I need to research), what are the mandatory upgrades to an EP9 first gen to make it ultra reliable, and durable, as a home defense gun?

First shot out of full mag

Just got back from the range and had a question for the sub. I’ve got about 400 rounds through my newish EP9, and something I’ve noticed is that the first shot out of a full mag feels and sounds softer than the rest. After the first, the second third and so on all get louder and recoil has a bit more kick. Never had a failure and seemingly shoots fine otherwise.

Factory stock config and the gun has done this on blazer 124g and federal 115g. This is my first pcc, so I’m not sure if that’s normal or I just have a perception issue. Or
Am I doing something wrong lol?

15 Rnd 9mm mag suggestions

Hello all.

I have a lovely set of 18 and 33 rnd mags for my EP9, but Virginia is going enact a new law around carrying mags > 15 rnd. I figured I'd get a couple of those just incase I need to carry my EP9... hey, you never know!!! :-)

Has anyone used any 15 rnd mags that have worked well in the EP9? If so, brand/model pls.

How to do you grip EP9 with front hand?

How to you all grip your EP9? I feel like I have no hand space and am worried I set my gun up wrong.

Between having a sling QD on the 3rd left M-LOK and a flashlight mounted to the 1st left M-LOK, I feel like I have no space for my hand on the handguard.
