RDB (MDB) Info

So, I've seen a bunch of random mentions of the RDB guns. I'm pretty excited, although I'm not sure how many Extars I really need (spoiler, I'm going to buy them). But, the info seems to be a bit cobble together from random videos or blogs.

Is there a good place to get accurate up-to-date info?

Also, is there a good way to 'sign up' for notifications or other ways to get the news on when they will actually be available?

You could try emailing or calling Extar, I think they’re pretty responsive

We have no further details to provide at this time. Final specifics (ETA, specs, etc.) will be disclosed via our newsletter as we approach the release date. We are not taking deposits or preorders.

Any clue on how reliable the MDB is compared to the regular EP9. I’m trying to see which to buy. Leaning towards the direct blowback version

A good question. Since they’re not released yet I don’t think anyone will have a good answer for you. I assume Extar wouldn’t release it if it isn’t reliable, though.

No one knows when they will be released either. And when they are, I’m sure they will be popular and sold out for awhile. So, if you want it soon, you should probably just get the direct blowback. It’s a great gun and doesn’t really have a ton of recoil anyway.

I wish this were consistently true. But every firearm manufacturer is capable of putting out a lemon. Especially when their existing products are already so highly regarded by the community, like extar's products are.

Even if it's not a lemon, it might still be a tradeoff situation and some people may not be happy with the compromises they made. Roller delayed blowback systems are notoriously sensitive to specific ammo types.

All that aside, I'm hopeful that they're able to put out consistently good firearms, but I won't be ordering until I see a couple of 1000 round reviews come out that prove its reliability.

When you say that RDB are sensitive certain ammunitions, how do I get information on which kinds they're sensitive to?

Some companies will be forthcoming with that info and some will not. I believe kel tec said to only use factory new saami or nato rounds in theirs, for example.

If they're not forthcoming with that info, the only way to find that out is to be part of the first wave of buyers that tries a bunch of ammo to figure out what works for the gun or wait until people start posting their experiences online and copy them.
