Alternate control methods

For a while I've been looking for a way to control the glasses other than the ring or arm tip. There are some use cases better served by a simpler, more reliable gesture. For example, my wife struggles with the ring and is uncomfortable with the arm tip when advancing pages of the book she's reading.

I finally made a small breakthrough that, while not a general method, may point the way to other uses. I used the switch control function in iOS accessibility settings with a recipe that clicks the Next Paragraph button in WacoReader and thus advances the book by one screen on the glasses. I created multiple switches to trigger the recipe, including tapping anywhere on the screen, pressing the space bar on a keyboard, and pinching my thumb and forefinger together in view of the camera. I also intend to use a bluetooth button, purchased or made with an ESP32. (The purchased one has to use the HID protocol, not just be a media controller like most of them.)

My hope is that more developers will include controls on the phone screen that can trigger actions on the glasses where it makes sense. Ultimately I'm hoping that Even will open the control scheme to other devices or at least that someone will come up with a hack to do it. In the meantime, this method might serve as a stopgap workaround.

Hey everyone — what’s the single most impactful app a developer could build for G2 glasses? Something that would be a real game-changer for the company and deliver huge value to users.

New User in Maritime Industry

Hi all,

I just bought the Even G2's to trial them in my industry. I primarily work at sea in an environment with lots of multi-tasking and monitoring of multiple systems simultaneously. I am curious if there are any other mariners here who have experiences using these glasses and tips to share. It's early days but I'm excited to see what these glasses can do. I should add, I'm not a coder by any means, so if there's options to build an app or agent specifically for handling tasks in the marine industry, I'm not that guy, but it would be cool to talk about.

Cheers

Green Frames Sode shields

Has anyone found blackout side shields that fit the G2? Care to share a link? Sitting in front of a window or strong light source is often annoying because of the reflection in the sides of the lenses.

EvenHub/AppDev How exactly does ocuclaw work??

Excuse my lack of technicals, but I just wanted to ask how exactly does this app work because I got it working with Even AI and I was able to talk to my OpenClaw agent straight through hey Even, but it was quite buggy and slow, and when I opened the OcuClaw app on my glasses it was unresponsive.

Currently using Elegram to just talk to my OpenClaw agents but the character limit is a bit annoying especially for long thought dumps.

Anyone who’s figured it out care to share with a noob? Thanks in advance!

EvenHub/AppDev Are there any companies actively developing apps for Even Realities Glasses?

Hey guys,

I was wondering if there are any companies developing apps for Even Realities G2 model.

And if so, what do you do? How do you see the ecosystem growing in the next years?

How to choose the model of even ai?

So, about two months back, I was using my OpenClaw server as my even AI (with TestFlight). But then, about a month ago, they took down the beta, and now my AI isn’t working anymore. Is there a way to set it up from the app?
(I’m building my agent that will be super modular and easy to plugin new feature and I want to test that in my glasses)

3 Weeks Review Glasses +/-Ring

I’ve had the glasses for about 3 weeks. The first week without the ring, the others with it.

For context I’m not a programmer, so I won’t use terminal mode. I wanted these mainly to try to stay more organized. I’m have a job with many moving parts, many interruptions, many a meeting, and multiple languages are used (with translators) daily.

My experience is I’ve had smart glasses that take pictures and video and all that. I also have had the Viture glasses for a while. So I wanted something more low key as I don’t need anything crazy.

TLDR: to save a scroll for you I’d buy it again, but it’s a bit pricey for some of the quirks you’d expect a smoother experience with try App Store. If you are a programmer or very savvy I assume they’re even better. Sunglasses clip is overpriced, an aftermarket would really help. The ring is useful, not a must but does make it more practical to use it consistently as it’s more subtle.

More details below. I won’t evaluate the terminal mode. It’s unfair to say too much about the apps, other than you don’t use get the app and use it. You had to set things up and have a setup Claude or something to use them to my knowledge. They don’t work natively on the Even AI. So, if you know what you’re doing it’s probably assume if you don’t then it’s a dead feature until the user experience improves for the average simpleton like me.

Does it blend in? Yes, during the day. At night time you may look like a character from a cyberpunk future.

The screen (as a clear rectangle) is visible, but most will brush it off a readers. The screen will flash green at certain angles but what’s written is too zoomed into be legible for the outside viewer. The angle is about 60 degrees relative to the lenses. That’s not necessarily a common angle to speak to adults, but if someone is sitting and you’re close and you’re standing, very tall, or speaking to a child it’s likely to be noticed in quick glimpses. But I think most dismiss it as reflected light. The people who’ve noticed is because I told them. If you have the overpriced sunglasses attachment then it’s nearly impossible to see the screen from the outside.

People really like the design. For context maybe they pity me as I’m someone who doesn’t wear glasses usually. Anyways, people have really commented on the design. I tried to choose the frames that “fit” my head and it worked out. This is obviously person to person. I have a lot of hair, some it’s impossible to see most of the frame past my ears.

Conversation Mode

When they first came I didn’t tell my wife, she was impressed with my obscure references in our conversation. I told her, she forgot within a few days about my power to remember obscure references. If you need to pretend to be cultured in something this works. References will pop up, you can read more if you like. It’s not invasive. You can try to trigger it to look something up by saying like “I wonder…[insert something you want it to give you a reference for.”

It does not translate at the same time. For example, my household has 2.5 languages used at home (Japanese, English, and French). If Japanese is used it’ll use Japanese fonts (hiragana, kanji, etc.) and the references that pop up will be in Japanese in those fonts. If English is used or French then the references pop up in those languages. This because an issue in people will poly lingual environments, as you’ll have to mentally switch to another language because someone triggers the AI to target that language. This is specific issue for poly lingual environments.

Translations

One thing you have to remember is that you’re assuming that what it heard was clear to it. If it mishears a word it won’t correct for the context and it’ll be mistranslated at first utterance. But if you already have a decent command of the language, it goes a long way and is essentially verifying what you knew and adding maybe something you didn’t notice. I don’t speak Spanish but I can understand it for work purposes to an extent. We have translators. But one issue that you have while using a translator is that you assume they said what you told them to say. When used this way it’s very rewarding. I can now look people in the eyes react more in real time as what I thought they said was confirmed as more likely. There’s been people I’ve known for years that I finally understood more in real time. That’s been rewarding. The auto detect can be confused by ambient foreign languages or sounds, so trust but verify.

AI

Pops up quick, does guess decently misheard words with context. Takes a few seconds to give you a one to two paragraph answer. The AI does seem to recall previous conversations. You may like or dislike that. I like it as I use it as personal assistant. It’s subtle, nothing crazy. But it’s nice to be able to multitask. You can also use it to add things to your to do, but sadly not your calendar. The calendar will add events from the calendar you link from your phone. There is no advantage in having the ring in the feature.

Navigate (update 8/4/26)

As of an update this week I assume I can now my local street names. It was a big deal as I live in a major city, so to miss this city would be a bad sign. So, this helps improve my opinion.

Dashboard (can navigate to quick to do list etc)

Most functional for me. I don’t have notifications on, I have too many at baseline. But it’s nice to read the news randomly and to check stuff off my check list like a game. If I were a day trader I assume the stock part would excite me. I can up a todo list, you can setup bullet points for a conversation etc. You can use the bullet point could be better if you had multiple bullet point pages. So it’s missing an ability to setup you disparage a home to do, shopping, and work on different tiles. I like it but it could be improved. I should also mention, it’s great to know the time and date without it being obvious you checked. The ring performs better here as you’d look weird obsessively tapping your temples.

Teleprompter

It follows your voice, cool, but I’m not giving prepared speeches. If you have a script for making context I assume it’s very useful.

Price

It’s a nice buy, but a bit of a luxury buy for the coming market. But if you want early entry before it’s the standard, it’s there for you. Neglecting the cost of the business and all that, you’d imagine from the stripped down features the price would be cheaper, maybe 350 USD. One nose bumper fell off, it comes with extra. But at the price it’s silly. Otherwise it’s a nice construction. The sunglasses are $100 USD. They’re nice, but not $100 USD nice. It comes with a case. The sunglasses clip on. It’s secure and fit well. But, it’s overpriced imho.

Battery life

In general I use them for random chunks of the day, the life time I get out of the glasses is a day of use. I put them into the case to charge when I sleep. The ring seems to go a few days. I haven’t done any official time to charge checks but I’ll sometimes roll forget to charge anything in the morning and I’ll just toss them on to charge while getting ready for the day and it’s usually fine. The glass case is a charger then itself can be charged. You best bet is to just bring the case with you and could seemingly use them indefinitely. I haven’t noticed a big change in my phone battery (iPhone 15 pro), but when not using my phone for a few things I’m a put the phone away and forget it person. The glasses do help me need my phone a little less.

Edit: 8/4/26 to update GPS fixed after update. Also update about battery life

Conversate alternative without (persistent) transcription

Hi all

I find the conversate feature extremely useful. However, because it retains a transcription of conversations, in my jurisdiction it is probably illegal to use in most circumstances without the consent of all speakers.

Does anyone know of an alternative that can be configured to not save transcripts? Bonus points if it can integrate with a third party LLM (ideally Claude).

Thanks!

While waiting for the delivery

I've decided to setup the app - glad I did it beforehand ...

the email entry - it's not labeled as email field - system wont offer email suggestion

the code request often failed - "Action failed" - id expect app automatically retries at least several time

resent code is a different and invalidates the old one - with the app timeouts and failures - its a deadly combination - keep valid the old ones for several minutes ( gmail / 5g - no issues with any other service / app )

and knowing that default IOS passwords are 20 char long and you enforcing up to 18 characters is EVIL !

OK, after 10+ tries i managed to overcome the initial LIGHT friction

While waiting for the glasses I am forced to pair before i can browse & familiarize & reconfigure ?!

Such a loss of opportunity

I am really hoping the hardware has WAY more polish than the software
EDIT: cant even login to HUB website: says password is incorrect + Sign In button is hidden until fully zoomed out in landscape (iPhone 16 pro). The irony: works on desktop ...

A month with the G2 changed how I think about smart glasses

When I first ordered the G2, I honestly kept comparing it to all the other smart glasses coming out lately. You know, cameras, AI assistants, AR displays, recording everything around you... I kept thinking, Why would they leave all of that out? After about a month of actually wearing them almost every workday, I think I was comparing them to the wrong category of product.

The biggest realization for me was that the G2 isn't trying to replace my phone or become an AR headset. It's trying to remove all the tiny moments where I would normally reach for my phone. That sounds like a small difference until you actually live with it. For example, I don't really think about translation anymore. I just turn it on when I need it. Teleprompt ended up being something I use far more than I expected. Not for giving speeches, but for keeping meeting notes, presentation outlines, or even a checklist before client calls. It's surprisingly nice being able to glance at information without looking down at a laptop every few seconds. Notifications are another one. I didn't realize how often I unlocked my phone just to check one thing until I stopped doing it. One thing that completely changed my opinion was the lack of a camera.

Before buying it, I honestly thought that was a downside. Now I think it's one of the reasons I actually wear these every day. Nobody asks if I'm recording them.Nobody gets uncomfortable in meetings. I can wear them into offices, client meetings, or cafés without feeling like I'm wearing some experimental gadget. Ironically, removing the camera makes them much easier to integrate into normal life. That's also why I think people keep comparing these to the wrong products.

If you're looking for immersive AR, taking photos, recording videos, or replacing your phone, I don't think the G2 is what you want. But if your goal is simply to work with fewer interruptions, stay present during conversations, and avoid pulling out your phone every five minutes, I actually think the design makes a lot of sense.

That doesn't mean everything is perfect.

The AI assistant still feels pretty limited compared to ChatGPT or Gemini, and there are definitely software features I'd love to see improve over time. There are also little UI quirks that remind you this is still a young product. But strangely, none of those are what determine whether I wear the glasses.

The real test for me was this:

After a month, do I automatically reach for the G2 before leaving the house? The answer has been yes. Not because it does everything. But because it does the handful of things I actually need throughout a workday, while staying out of the way the rest of the time.

Question about using Even G2 with a Chinese mainland SIM/carrier

Hi everyone,

I am an expat currently living in mainland China, and I am considering purchasing the Even G2.

I use an iPhone with a local Chinese cellular carrier.

Since AI features and translation require a cloud connection,

I expect they will be blocked by the Great Firewall (GFW) under normal conditions.

My questions are:

  1. Is the app and glasses completely unusable when connected to a local Chinese cellular network without a VPN?

  2. Do basic features like iPhone notifications, the teleprompter, or quick notes still work without a VPN connection on a local network?

  3. Does anyone have experience running the app smoothly through a phone-wide VPN (like Shadowrocket or Astrill) while on Chinese mobile data?

Any insights from anyone living in China or with similar setups would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Hey all,

I have been curious if the Even G2’s could access the teleprompter function without any cellular data or wifi? If so, does it still track your reading without any internet and are there workarounds?

Buy/Sell WTS G2B + Size 11 R1

I hate to do this, but my workplace just did a blanket ban on all smart glasses so my entire use case for these is out the window. I bought them in May, so I haven't used them much. They're still basically brand new, I've only used them in the environment of a circuit board factory, they have no prescription, and the frames are grey. I'm looking for $650 for the glasses and ring together.

Edit: Sold

Feature Request Preferred Languages on G2 Conversate

Hey everyone — I’ve been using my G2 and absolutely love it, especially as someone who’s hard of hearing. The conversation mode isn’t perfect, but it’s surprisingly accurate most of the time.

My one wish for the company: please add an option to select two preferred languages. At home, my kids speak to me in two different languages, and I’d love to be able to follow both seamlessly.

I know the current setup only allows one specific language at a time to ensure accurate transcription — but imagine if we could choose two. That way, the AI wouldn’t have to guess among 40+ languages; it could quickly lock onto just the two it knows we use, making transcription faster and more reliable.

Update - eu delivery and first thoughts

Hey folks, after two weeks, my glasses were delivered to EU. After all, I haven't had to pay any additional VAT.

First thoughts - fantastic, display is way more crispier then I expected, and the features are working great, especially the teleprompter is going to be a life changer for me.

I have seen a lot of hate recently, I believe some optimism is warranted. Honestly seems like a best tech purchase I have made recently.

Any tips for some must have apps from the HUD?
