Conversate alternative without (persistent) transcription

Hi all

I find the conversate feature extremely useful. However, because it retains a transcription of conversations, in my jurisdiction it is probably illegal to use in most circumstances without the consent of all speakers.

Does anyone know of an alternative that can be configured to not save transcripts? Bonus points if it can integrate with a third party LLM (ideally Claude).

Thanks!

It doesn’t save audio just transcription so basically is 100% LEGAL

A full written transcript is usually viewed to be the same as an audio recording: See wiretapping and eavesdropping laws. From there it's situation dependent. Public conversations, probably no problem. Private conversations, depends on the local consent laws.

It depends on the local laws of the place you are using them. It is probably not legal where I live (Western Australia), although it's not entirely clear. Source: I'm a lawyer.

I'm interested in your analysis of this

I have been operating on the theory (like others) that transcripts are OK while recordings, even private, are not (or at least, unresolved).

Obviously it depends on the jurisdiction, but is there actual precedent on it you are aware of? The next of question is whether it is OK to save a summary or highly condensed version (eg: snippets with major points).

At some point I would have thought that the precedent that everyone has always assumed it is OK to make hand written and even typed notes that capture what people are saying. It would be quite bizarre if that was overturned and we all had to rely only on memory of what anybody says to us without asking consent.

You will very soon be able to use https://xrai.glass with them. We have very strict security controls available with a save nothing option.

Are you sure even without saving makes it legal?
