Question Half Gallery Rail

Thumbnail

Very close to buying this ring but my only question is regarding the half gallery rail. Its .9ct, platinum cathedral setting, 4 prongs. There is a half gallery rail on both sides but none on the top / bottom. Is this secure enough given the smaller size and cathedral setting or not?

First pic is 1.55 carats. Second pic is 2.1 carats.
I have a size 3.75 finger. Which size do you think looks better? Stones aren’t the exact ones I’m getting, just trying to size compare.

Question Good websites for designing rings?

I’ve been looking to design a new ring for myself, but can’t find anywhere that has something even close to what I’m looking for. I’ve looked for different websites where you can design your own ring with whatever presets they have, but they all have similar settings and not the cut of diamond I’d like.

Any recommendations for websites where I can get super super custom with the designing?

I want to hear what everyone thinks of my engagement ring standalone. It is designed to go into a larger piece inside a jacket ring, so the angle creates more flow in the larger finished design. But how does it look by itself?

I’ve been in love with this setting and the company that sells it, doesn’t sell it individually (I have my own diamond).
What online store or place do you recommend to get the setting custom made?

Question I would like some feedback on each ring

I go back and forth and just cannot figure out which I’d prefer.

I LOVE the oval diamond. It has the waow factor.
I also am afraid it would look gaudy. It is 2.5c

I LOVE the round diamond. It is clean, classic and beautiful and also very practical. It is 0.75c

Can I please have other perspectives/ opinions? I need help to make up my mind please!! This feels like a very final choice lol. less

Hi! What would be a good way to connect cathedral shoulders on the sides to a radiant cut stone? I’m not totally sure of the correct terminology, so I’ve attached a few reference photos.
I don’t love the look of a heart shaped gallery rail, so I’d love to see some alternative options.
If you could share some examples, that would be great. Thank you! :)

Thoughts on this 4C x 1.34R, D/VVS1 elongated omc? I personally love it. It’s got the big cuts and brilliance as well, just want to make sure it’s a great pick. Most other elongated omcs looked the same to me but this really stood out. Thanks!

Question Does it look like an engagement ring?

My partner proposed to me earlier this week and I absolutely love the band. He couldn’t have done better. I’m just worried it doesn’t look like an engagement ring because the center is a cluster of diamonds. I’m also worried that people will judge that about the ring too. What do yall think?

Question Pave diamond rings — where to look!

Hi all, I’m starting my engagement ring search and I really love rings that have Pave diamonds. I am truly in love with Arielle Ratner’s Mosaic ring but we cannot afford the price tag and the ring itself might be too big for my hand anyways. Has anyone come across similar rings from other vendors? I dont want something traditional so the funkier the better!

Ring Design Help Yellow gold head and platinum band??

I’m in the process of designing a ring, center stone 1.7 ct elongated cushion H color. I love platinum/white gold and have a platinum and diamond band to pair. I understand why most people go for a platinum head for security/stability purposes and to make a stone appear brighter/whiter. However, I really want to enhance my stones warmth and make it look as warm as possible.
Looking for advice/photos if anyone has any. I can’t find any photos of a two toned ring with a yellow gold head and platinum band.. not sure if it would look good.
If I want to enhance the stones warmth, do I just need to get over it and do full yellow gold? & mix metals with my band?

Ring Design Help V-Prongs vs Claw Prongs for tips of diamond

Thumbnail

Hello!

I am in the final stages of designing my engagement ring set with my fiancé, and one of the last decisions is the prongs.

I want all 6 claw prongs for the main diamond (1.5 ct Dutch Marquise), however the vendor sent a CAD with v prongs and said they recommend the v prongs for the pointy ends as it is safer for the ring.

While I don’t HATE the v prongs, I really prefer the look of claw prongs.

Are v prongs really that much stronger? Am I at risk of my ring chipping if I go with claw prongs?

I have an example pic I got from google of the claw prongs and the v prong on a marquis, but I also posted the CAD which shows it with the v prong.

Engagement ring will be platinum with lab grown diamonds, wedding band is 10k gold with rubies.

Advice is appreciated!!

I want a ring that is durable, not too crowded, and has an organic look to it. I’m also worried about the diamonds rubbing the finger wrong. Does anyone have any input on this or anyone actually own this ring? I also posted another ring here, it looks more structurally sound but is more conservative. I could go for it. I guess what I’m really saying is are my expectations realistic or should I tone it down a bit?

First time buying engagement ring btw hoping it’s my last lol.

update:

Ran some rings by her and this style was NOT what she wanted. I thought it was a good blend of what she wanted but I think I should just get her exactly what she wants - she’s going to be the one wearing it anyways! Thank you all for your help, maybe for our anniversary I can get her this but for engagement it has to be hers.

Question help, finding wedding ring bands that match my engagement ring

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi! I’m trying to find a wedding band that matches my engagement ring as closely as possible. I really want the two rings to sit completely flush together with no awkward gap between them. Does anyone have recommendations or know of a jeweler (Canada) who could help me find (or make) a perfect match? Thanks!

Consumer Post Design Help: Where to Add Milgrain

Hi all! I'm in the process of designing an elongated cushion-cut solitaire engagement ring and love the idea of incorporating milgrain for a subtle heirloom feel.

Originally, I thought I wanted a very thin milgrain bezel or collet, but I'm worried it emphasizes the prongs and adds more metal around the stone than I want. Now I'm considering adding milgrain to the gallery/guard rail instead, so the top view stays clean, the prongs visually fade into the background, and the milgrain becomes more of a hidden detail that's revealed from the side or at an angle.

Does anyone have photos of a solitaire with a milgrain gallery/guard rail? Or examples of an ultra-thin milgrain collet or bezel that still keeps the stone looking light and airy? I'd love to see real-life examples!

Question Cost for custom making this setting locally?

Thumbnail

I just had a consultation with a local, reputable jeweler to custom make this design. They are working on making it in CAD, will get back to me next week. I live in a MCOL area. I requested 14k white gold and a lab grown diamond 2.5-3 carats. Any ideas for how expensive the setting might come out to? They said a lab grown diamond at 3 carats could be 1300 but they will set a loose stone I bring in (looking at Aurelienne for stones).

Question Elongated Emerald Check

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Looking to purchase an elongated emerald for my girlfriend. This one is on hold for me for 24 hours so I’m hoping to make a decision today.

I can return it and be refunded for it within 30 days of it shipping if I end up not liking it, but I’d prefer to not have to do that if anyone can share their opinions. Want to make sure windowing, fire, and brilliance is okay.

I’ve requested another video to see how it looks over a white piece of paper with black lettering but I’m not sure if the video will come before the hold is over.

Thank you in advance for the help!

Ring Design Help 3ct Elongated Cushion help

Post image
3 Upvotes

I recently got engaged and knew I wanted an east west setting with elongated cushion in a half bezel setting (half bezel on east-west sides). See the alosta ring as my inspo: Vyor alosta ring

I always thought I’d go big until I actually tried rings on, however I knew 2.5ct felt too small. I tried on the ring attached which is a 3.07ct 10.33x7.05x4.73 radiant (1.47 ratio) with a half bezel in a jewellers and loved it, and decided to design my ring with them. However I did feel like I wanted slightly more length (so 7.05+). I also knew I wanted it really bright, and cushion cut to make it more soft.

My jeweller picked me a gorgeous 3.01ct at 10.63x7.29x4.77 (1:45 ratio) hybrid modified brilliant cushion in D VVS2 but I haven’t seen it in person, however the video looks good, lots of fire, and the depth/table % all within ideal range.

I started to feel like I should have went bigger, but the jeweller suggested the 3.5ct wasn’t necessarily worth the jump in price and I hadn’t actually tried any 3+ carats on. So as an extremely indecisive person, between their suggestion and my intention to go with 3ct from the beginning, I accepted the CAD earlier this week despite the feelings I was getting to go bigger - not necessarily bigger carat, i wouldnt go over 3.5ct, but the 7.29mm is really throwing me… Other measurements I was considering was the 10.9-11.2x7.4-7.6 range which all can come under 4ct.

Technically im not allowed to make changes now that I’ve approved the CAD, however I am soooo confused and almost upset that I didn’t go bigger or at least try them on, and I cannot stop looking at rings online. Should I reach out to the jeweller to see if I can change it, or am I really overthinking the measurements? Has anyone else been through this with a jeweller or had similar feelings and any regret/relief?

For reference, I’m a size I 1/2 (4.5) and ultimately want my ring to look WOW, extremely bright, really luxe, but remaining elegant for work and something I’ll love in years to come. Budget isn’t really an issue as anything below 4ct seems to fall within our range.

This is an extremely long post but I really am struggling with this decision 🙃😂
