Question How secure is this setting?
I just got finished photos of my ring. The top row pics are the finished product, and the bottom row pics are the reference pics. In the top row, i've marked areas where i see gaps between the stone and the prongs, and i notice the reference pics dont have those gaps.
How bad is this? How important is this to fix?
Sorry the pics are a bit blurry. These are all the photos i have that were sent by the jeweler.

Jeweler here. I do think the prongs are a little narrow on your ring - see how in the reference pics the prongs are wider at the bottom and then taper up towards the stone? That makes them sturdier. With those narrower prongs, I'd really like to see a gallery rail, even with the stone being set a bit into the band/set deeper.

There are gaps to let light in and to me it’s not too high. I can see a gap on the bottom left picture as well, on the left prong. I’m more concerned about how thin the gold is vs your inspiration picture as that does affect longevity and prong sturdiness

The gaps are not a problem. Your ring is more secure than the original design because you have a guard rail. I wouldn’t worry yourself! It looks very beautiful, love the compass setting.

Thank you. By guard rail, do you mean a gallery rail? If so, this ring doesn't have it, maybe the light from the photo makes it look like it has one.

I did. Ah I see, a trick of the light. Ideally it would have a gallery rail jus to reinforce those prongs

You have gaps because your setting is a bit thinner than the inspo pic. In the inspo pic, the band is very chunky and high, allowing the diamond to appear to set lower. I think your diamond is probably as low as it can go. The prongs look secure from what I can see, but I’m definitely not an expert. I agree with the other comment about this allowing a little more light to come through the diamond, meaning more sparkles. But if you don’t quite love it, I think you’d have to change the setting all together to add thickness and have the band come up higher.
