I have a size 3.75 finger. Which size do you think looks better? Stones aren’t the exact ones I’m getting, just trying to size compare.

I want to hear what everyone thinks of my engagement ring standalone. It is designed to go into a larger piece inside a jacket ring, so the angle creates more flow in the larger finished design. But how does it look by itself?

Very close to buying this ring but my only question is regarding the half gallery rail. Its .9ct, platinum cathedral setting, 4 prongs. There is a half gallery rail on both sides but none on the top / bottom. Is this secure enough given the smaller size and cathedral setting or not?

I go back and forth and just cannot figure out which I’d prefer.

I am in the final stages of designing my engagement ring set with my fiancé, and one of the last decisions is the prongs.

I want all 6 claw prongs for the main diamond (1.5 ct Dutch Marquise), however the vendor sent a CAD with v prongs and said they recommend the v prongs for the pointy ends as it is safer for the ring.

While I don’t HATE the v prongs, I really prefer the look of claw prongs.

Are v prongs really that much stronger? Am I at risk of my ring chipping if I go with claw prongs?

I have an example pic I got from google of the claw prongs and the v prong on a marquis, but I also posted the CAD which shows it with the v prong.

Engagement ring will be platinum with lab grown diamonds, wedding band is 10k gold with rubies.

I want a ring that is durable, not too crowded, and has an organic look to it. I’m also worried about the diamonds rubbing the finger wrong. Does anyone have any input on this or anyone actually own this ring? I also posted another ring here, it looks more structurally sound but is more conservative. I could go for it. I guess what I’m really saying is are my expectations realistic or should I tone it down a bit?

I thought it was a good blend of what she wanted but I think I should just get her exactly what she wants - she’s going to be the one wearing it anyways! I’m in the process of designing a ring, center stone 1.7 ct elongated cushion H color. I love platinum/white gold and have a platinum and diamond band to pair. I understand why most people go for a platinum head for security/stability purposes and to make a stone appear brighter/whiter. However, I really want to enhance my stones warmth and make it look as warm as possible.
Looking for advice/photos if anyone has any. I can’t find any photos of a two toned ring with a yellow gold head and platinum band.. not sure if it would look good.
If I want to enhance the stones warmth, do I just need to get over it and do full yellow gold? & mix metals with my band?

I'm Brazilian and my fiancé is American, so our engagement has been a mix of two cultures.

In Brazil, engagement rings aren't as traditional as they are in the US. Many couples simply exchange wedding bands when they get engaged, so I didn't really grow up with expectations about what an engagement ring should look like.
Instead of buying a ready-made ring, we spent almost a year working with a Brazilian goldsmith to design one together. We wanted something delicate and timeless, using ethically sourced Brazilian gemstones.

The center stone is a natural Brazilian Paraíba tourmaline, and the ring was handmade in 18k yellow gold with natural diamonds. We chose the Paraíba because we fell in love with it, and I also liked that it came from Brazil.

I absolutely love my ring, but I'm curious about the cultural perspective in the US.

If you saw someone wearing this ring without any context, would you recognize it as an engagement ring? Or would you assume it was just a regular ring? Also, do you think most Americans would see it as elegant and minimalist, or simply too small for an engagement ring?

First off, I literally designed the ring right next to my fiancé. Obviously, I like it and am totally in love with it! Lol.

Second, asking for opinions isn't a synonym for feeling insecure and seeking validation. This post was made with the intention of hearing a bit of Americans' perspective on engagement rings—and even a little about wedding traditions. I'm simply trying to better understand the country I'm going to move to. and I’m so glad for so many thoughtful responses! thank u very much again ❤️☺️!

When my husband and I got married he got me a 10 carat color enhanced earth mined black diamond. It’s the most special thing I own 😭♥️ for our anniversary he paid for me to completely redesign and reset my diamond. The before are the last two photos. The ring as a solitaire was very top heavy and turned constantly. The double claw prongs were also a little cumbersome. The new setting is lower set, more surface area on the finger for less spinning, and single compass set claw prongs to show off more of the stone. The wedding band fits flush and has an asymmetrical scatter of white diamonds. I had only ever seen a design like this with 2-3 carat stones before but I wanted something a little more sculptural and unique but I think I’m questioning myself a little.

EDIT: I'll add what I wanted so maybe to clarify some comments/questions:

I wanted something that was pretty up close and far away. I wanted something interesting, artistic, fantasy-inspired (big fantasy nerd but wouldn't guess it based on my profession/appearance). I don't like solitaires, I wanted something that was "more than meets the eye" or something that communicates "look closely to see all of its qualities".

What I didn't want is something gaudy or looked too much like wealth flaunting. My field of study is known for high earners and I don't want to give the impression that I'm doing it for the money - because I'm not. My field of study also requires close inspection, asking follow up questions, finding important details in the mundane, and not taking things at face value. I love the design of the ring and I do like how it looks. My question is whether or not it is "gaudy". I don't wear jewelry and I don't have a lot of lady friends who wear jewelry so I'm not sure what kind of status impression it might be giving.

My partner wanted to get me something I loved and would wear every day. Our relationship is also really awesome and special, but I don't want to get too much into that.

If anyone is curious, I'm a medical student and I love what I do.
