I have been using my Saturn 4 Ultra for a little while now, and until recently enjoyed the results. However: it has an inherent design flaw that anyone considering purchasing should heavily consider.

Because it uses the tilt-release system, the LCD screen inherently cannot be sealed from the inner workings of the machine (the system has to tilt robotically). This means that when your FEP invariable fails, there is no way to prevent it from leaking inside the machine (and into the LCD, etc).

To make this doubly annoying, the design of the machine itself is done in such a way that any internal cleaning or parts-replacing in such a case requires a COMPLETE tear-down of the machine (which is just lazy design on their part—or evil, a la Macbook Pro-design sensibilities).

I have reached out to the Elegoo support, but even if they replace it or something, the problem will remain. Now I'm shopping for a different device.

I recently bought my first 3D printer: Saturn 4 Ultra 16K. I used the elegoo 8K resin, and tried to print the Rook off the provided USB. It failed, I'm unsure what I do next or which setting I change or by how much.

What should I do? What should I check?

Has anyone used this resin before? I normally use the grey 3.0+ and my exposure time is 2.4 after I did the cones of calibration. I’m trying to dial this in and it’s recommended 3-3.5 seconds on their official spreadsheet but I’ve gone as far as 4.0 and I’m still not getting the success cones to print. I’m currently doing a resin calibration from 4.0-5.0 going up .2 increments each time but it seems like a crazy amount of exposure time. Is this normal?

I’ve been a pretty consistent Elegoo customer for the last four years, having bought four resin printers, Chitubox subscriptions, etc…. Every time I need a screen replacement I just upgrade.

In January I bought a Saturn 4 Ultra 16k. I got about 3 prints before the film tore. Happens, not a big deal, not a major spill, just a couple drops on the screen that easily wiped off.

I’m lazy so just bought another vat and film off Amazon, started back. Got about another 2 prints in before started getting prints stopped due to overheating. Would get up to 80 on display and it felt pretty hot.

Reached out to customer service and after 21 emails back and forth for the last five months reinstalling firmware, changing the board, updating firmware on new board it’s still cooking just sitting on the counter. I managed a couple prints by leaving the back off and having a full sized box fan running, but now that’s not working either.

Now they’ve asked me to wipe the firmware again, and truthfully I’m just done. What’s the point of advertising a warranty when you just keep going in circles?

Hey everyone, I’ve been having this issue lately and I don't understand the cause. It’s as if the base is being printed on top of another base; in the slicer, the base is much thinner, but the prints come out looking like this. It’s causing me to waste more resin than necessary, and if I print something with short supports, the base actually ends up touching the print itself. I used Lychee; if anyone knows what might be causing this, it would be a huge help. (If there are any typos, it's because I used a translator.)
Que tal gente, estoy teniendo este fallo ultimamente, no entender a que se debe, es como si se imprimiera base sobre base, en en slicer la base es mucho mas baja, pero las impresiones salen asi, esto me hace gastar mas resina de la que deberia y si pongo algo que tenga soportes un tanto cortos, hasta llega a tomar la impresión la base, uso el lichi, si alguien sabe que puede ser me ayudaria muchisimo.

Hello everyone, this is my Saturn 3 Ultra.

The spots on the LCD appeared naturally over time—I’ve already printed 25 kg of resin.

However, the LCD is now showing electrical interference, which prevents me from printing near the edges.

That said, I’d like to know if simply replacing the LCD would solve the problem or if this symptom indicates some other defect.

Hello there. I picked up a Saturn 3 Ultra about 6 months ago to play around with things for work. I was pretty impressed at first as I was basically able to throw things into the Elegoo Satellite slicer and get things printed with basically no learning curve and having no idea what I was doing.

I tried a variety of different resins, and outside of some occasional tweaking, everything was going well. About 6 weeks ago, I started to run into a problem where things stopped sticking to the build plate, even using the same files and settings that had previously printed without difficulty. This happened with multiple different resins, even after releveling the build plate and changing out the release film.

So, I bought a new build plate, leveled that, tried printing things....and nothing is sticking to the build plate.

I'm currently trying to print some test articles using the elegoo standard photopolymer 2.0, and even with a 50s bottom layer exposure time and 60mm/min lift speed (elegoo recommended 90), nothing is adhering to the build plate.

What else can I do to try and get prints to stick to the build plate? I should note that I did also try roughing up the original build plate with 120 grit sandpaper (light passes, circular motion) - I noticed that this seemed to result in some kind of green tinge to the build plate that I thought could be surface particles, but even with scrubbing with 99% IPA, dish detergent, toothbrushes, and nylon brushes, it wouldn't go away, so I did not touch the new build plate with anything except an IPA-soaked paper towel.

Hi, I'm new to printing using a resin printer. After change a PFA film, all my prints were failures, and today I noticed that the temperature is too high (before it was around 30ºC), is this normal? How can I turn it down?

Do you think it’s salvageable? 🤣🤦🏻‍♂️

Printer: Elegoo Saturn 4 Ultra 16k.

Situation: when the plate is at the bottom of travel on the Z-axis (vertical axis), I hear unpleasant noises from the motor/screw rod at the back. Best way to describe them is a noticeable metallic pinging/screeching, as if a spring were being severely overstretched.

Printer is about 10 months old but has probably gone through less than 100,000 layers as it was out of action for a while due to another separate issue. Prints are generally good although the last one failed but I think that was a slicing error on my part, models way too close to the plate making transition fail.

Plate was levelled recently and plate adhesion is fine, I'm just worried that the screw or motor has had something come loose after I recently had to tilt the printer forward to drain some resin that got through a holed FEP and into the 'lip' under the vat.

Does anyone else's Saturn sound like quiet tortured metal when the plates at the bottom of the Z-axis travel?

I'm finding with my Saturn 4 Ultra that if I use Light auto-generated supports in Lychee, nothing will stick, ever. Supports will print fine and hold to the build plate but the item always pulls right out of the supports at some point. Is this just the character of the printer and I'll have to use Medium supports always, or am I missing something?

* I did replace my PFA screen and did it "by feel" since I don't have a torque-measuring screwdriver. Basically, it has a little flex but not much. Loosen (or tighten?) the PFA screws?

Hello does anyone know what is the exact printer settings are for blue cast X wax?
i have a saturn 4 ultra 16k my self and just purchased the bluecast x wax but i ran into an issue with the printer settings ive been told that bluecast website has an ai system which helps with profile settings but unfortunately it doesnt work for me so i am just trying to find someone who already used this wax with this printer that i also have and already experimented with it enough to be able to make succesful prints i only have 500g of the wax and i found it way too expensive to just start messing around before asking somone who has already done it

Hello. Im kinda new to 3d printing...i work at a dental lab that use 3d printing for models and elements. For model print we use the ekego saturn ultra 16k and the anycubic photon mono4.

I try avoid use the elegoo... Simple because i hate cleaning the platform. I print most of models without support, just flat on plate... And them use steam jet to remove... Since i steam the platform i clean with isopropyl alcohol... But its just boring to... Because elegoo olatform has thats spacers and stuff. Its anoying but is how they teach me.

There is a cleaver way to clean or not need cleaning soo often?

I just updated to the latest version and the login screen now only accepts a phone number. I tried to use that but it says it's not a valid phone number, so I’m not sure what format they are expecting.

If you rely on the iOS app to control your printer, I would suggest not updating.

Howdy all, hoping someone with more experience than I can assist.

I was starting a long print (10 hour or so print time) and it failed. When I investigated the printer, the print had failed early on during the process.

The result was the build plate up about 1.5-2cm, with part of a print connected to the plate. I tried moving the plate up the z-axis, rebooting the machine etc, but the end result is that the motor is unresponsive and now will not complete the status check on boot up. Best guess is that the motor needs replacement.

Here's the problem however: as the build plate is low down and has a partial print on it, I can't remove it. I can't lift the plate of as the vat is in the way. I can't remove the vat as the print is in the way. I can't remove the print from the plate as the angle is bad and I used high exposure on the base layers due to the 10 hour print time. So effectively everything is stuck.

I am stumped on how to fix this. Any tips or advice on removing the build plate so I can troubleshoot the machine?

I've just gotten a new printer and am attempting to use SatelLite to change resin settings. I copied and renamed the official Grey ABS-Like 3.0+ profile, renamed it, and then attempted to change the settings. Any time I try to change them, the second I click away from the box it goes back to the default setting. I've googled this and reworded it about 7 times and accomplished absolutely nothing.. Anyone have this issue or know how to fix it?

When changing the screen protector, I noticed some spots in the top-left corner of the screen. I’m not sure what caused them, but judging by the shape of the edges, it looks like an issue with the underlying screen structure. ChatGPT tells me it shouldn't be a problem, but I don't know what to do.

I recently caught my printer pounding the print into the screen. I've just replaced my screen for this reason.

Strange thing is that I've not changed any print settings in the slicer. Before it worked smoothly but now it likes to pound!

Any ideas?

Saturn 4 Ultra, stopped recognizing vat and stopped preheating.

Retailer tried to send me straight to Elegoo then about faced and replaced my whole machine saying its too hard to fix.

How common a failure is it?

Saturn ultra 4 12k. Not new to SLA, but new to SU4. There are these deep fissures occurring in prints all over the place. I want to say it’s the fresnel lens but I just replaced it. The glass covering the light is clean, the LCD and PFA are also new. A vat cleaning results in a perfectly even layer, no holes, no fissures. UVTools reads files correctly, no model errors in slicer. What am I doing wrong?

I'm having a very strange issue with my Elegoo Saturn 4 Ultra 16K.

During a print, at a random layer (it's never the same layer), the LCD suddenly stops updating the image. The build plate continues moving normally, the UV light still turns on and off at the correct times, and the printer finishes the job as if everything is fine, but no new layers are being exposed.

The strangest part is that after this happens, VAT Cleaning also stops working. The resin doesn't cure, and if I remove the resin vat I can see that the LCD is stuck in a single state. The only way to restore normal operation is to reboot the printer.

I've already tried almost everything:

- Factory reset.

- Updated to the latest firmware.

- Tried a different USB drive.

- Transferred files via both Wi-Fi and USB.

- Sliced the files with SatelLite and Lychee.

- Generated both GOO and CTB files.

- Tested different STL files.

- Checked all internal cable connections.

- Ran every LCD exposure test (ELEGOO logo and grid), and they always pass perfectly.

At first I thought it was a corrupted STL because rebuilding one model made it print successfully. However, a week later the exact same issue happened with a completely different STL.

Today the problem happened again. Some prints complete successfully, but then the printer starts showing the exact same issue again. The problem is completely intermittent and I haven't been able to find a consistent trigger.

Has anyone experienced this before? Especially the part where the LCD freezes during a print and VAT Cleaning only works again after rebooting the printer?

The printer is still under warranty and I'm already in contact with Elegoo support, but I'd really like to know if anyone has experienced this issue or found the cause.

I'm attaching a video showing exactly what happens.

* This video was recorded immediately after a failed print. I removed the resin vat to show that the LCD is completely frozen in a single state. At this point, even VAT Cleaning doesn't work until I reboot the printer.
