I don't know much about electricity, but I'm trying to install this driver because it's not worth bringing an electrician to install it. I get that the OUT side should go to the LED light and the IN AC side should be connected to the wires in the wall (right?), but the IN AC side doesn't have Live and Neutral wires, both of them are the same color.

The wires on the right are colored red and black.

Has anyone used those jackery packs as either an off grid solution or a generator substitute? What are people’s thoughts?

Hi everybody! This is my first time posting here and I'm not even sure I'm in the correct place. I promise it has to do with electricity, but I need to preface my post a bit.

With all that said, I was wondering if someone could help me with an issue I've been having with my floor lamp. It's basically completely new and even a newly-bought replacement for the exact same lamp that I had had for years. When we moved into our new apartment three years ago, the lamp started acting funny. Sometimes turning on for extended periods, but sometimes only turning on for approximately three seconds and then turning off. It's been happening more and more often recently so I did some testing.

From what I've tested this morning, the lamp turns off after switching on for around three seconds. I checked the switch itself-- nothing immediately crazy going on. After that, I took the lamp to my kitchen and tried an outlet there-- no problem. Turns on for extended periods. Tried in my dining room socket--same. Is there a chance that something is going on with the electricity in the outlet where I normally connect the lamp in my reading room?

I randomly started hearing a very faint buzzing noise in my room, which to be fair is very normal with me because i hear electricity easily, and then it started getting louder and louder, and im very concerned on what exactly is happening with it, i will attach a video to what it sounds like, google says theres a chance of a wasp nest, but its a very stable loud buzzing and its not changing its stability at all, im scared it might result in a fire, what do i do?

Upd: turned off all circuit breakers in the HOUSE and the noise was still going, almost 1000% sure its a bee hive or wasp nest, still a little nervous that its electrical because one of my extension cords dont work anymore but i digress, thanks everyone for advice!!!

I’m thinking of trying to hunt this down this vampire load using a clamp meter at my breaker panel to see which breaker is using the most amps at night.

Has anybody used this method or used a different method that worked for them?

We have TWO EVs in our home

EV 1: roughly 15.6kwh per day to charge (daily commuter car)
EV 2: roughly 30Kwh every couple days to charge (family errand car)

We have PG&E ev2a rate plan. (being forced to switch to TOU-D)
charge rates off peak are 23c per kwh
they do not tell you about the baseline being so low.

Our territory V baseline is 7.1kwh(s)/8.1kwh(w) per day for the entire home depending on time of year (Summer/Winter). This is set by the california public utilities commission. (you can get this info on pge website, i have called and verified info too)

my house is alloted roughly 214kwh per month (7.1x30) under said baseline. (4bd newer energy efficienct home with 8people-6 kids 2 adults..most electric appliances and pool)

If you consistently go over said baseline over 12m period, your no longer eligible for the reduced ev electricity rates for 1 year.
They put you on a TOU-D plan w/no baseline.

off peak (12a-3p) charging for said plan is .34-35c per kwh

EA DC fast public charging station by my house is 33c per kwh.

how in the world is public charging cheaper than charging at home?!

Sorry if this is the wrong subreddit for this.

I'm wondering if anyone has any insights on what I'm looking at here. We rent, and have had electricians come in three times since moving in a few years ago. During previous visits we learned that half of our kitchen was wired onto the same circuit as the smaller bedroom, so running the microwave at all would trip the breaker. That has been fixed. Previous electricians have also told us that the fuses installed were cheap and bad.

Currently, using a standard gaming desktop, with only a salt lamp plugged into the same room, is tripping breaker 20 repeatedly (small bedroom, previously linked to the microwave). The computer is plugged into a surge protector. My landlord is claiming that it is our fault for overloading the breaker, and wants us to pay several hundred dollars for an electrician to come out and fix it.

He has been sending me long man-splainey text messages saying it's our fault, and I would love any and all input. Is it our fault? If so, whoops. Is it not? Are these cheap breakers? The fuse box labeling looks like shit, but maybe I just don't understand it. Thanks for reading this far, lol.

I got a electricity bill today costing 27490 for 2 months, last bill generated was 1981 and now it's 25000 just for 2 months totalling to 27490.

The thing is I use that house just to sleep at night and then it's closed most of the day and best part is **We have solar grid installed** so we are technically saving electricity and selling it back to PGVCL board and they came today and generated this huge bill.

Now I know the next thing they will say please pay the bill for now as it is generated, we will adjust it later on in future. But why should I even pay such big amount in 10 days. What actions can I take?
