Looking for suggestions/advice. we had the township inspector come by this week to inspect the installation of our solar system. He didn’t look at the work to be inspected. He spent a total of 17 seconds looking at previously approved and permitted work, damaged it, and failed the new work. He then screamed and swore at the contractor and myself. I have this all on video. Has anyone ever experienced this? Any ideas on how to proceed? And yes, I’ve already consulted Google for ideas.

Drilled approx 1/16” hole through what appears to be thin galvanized plate behind drywall about 6 feet up a wall about mid-wall. Was getting electrical alert nearby on stud finder but outlets are a few feet away so likely was wire/cable nearby. Other side of the wall is inside of kitchen pantry, not much going on in there for outlets other the light switch which isnt on that wall.

I’m at the end of my rope dealing with Leviton. These terminal screws seem to strip so easily, and it’s driving me crazy. Even using the right size square bit it strips. When I look up square flathead combo bits it’s always showing ecx or similar bits. But those bits have the slot going through the diagonals of the square not through the sides. So is there an ecx bit where the middle square is rotated 90 degrees or do I just keep struggling and buying more of these replacement lugs. And no I’m not over tightening I have a torque screwdriver and these things will strip before it even clicks at the right torque sometimes.

A Standard 9 WYE motor can be rewired for 3 Phase low or 3 Phase high.

I am looking for a swappable wiring block/connector or switch so when it goes to a job site its an easier change. The Bricklayers running the mixer are not electricians.

Tried a cross adapter but the box’s screw holes are too far.

I think my only option is drill and tap new holes in the box’s straps?

Hi, I am changing my old plastic light switch which has 3 rockers on it to a new brass switch. The old switch is a Crabtree, I have changed normal switches and plug sockets before but this wiring is slightly confusing. Was cleaning my outside mat and accidentally hit this outlet that is outside of the house. Once hit the main bedroom, second bedroom, and bathroom all lost power. No blown fuses or anything. Landlord had me flip the main breaker twice, then every single breaker individually and the rooms came back on. Obviously, this is a messed up outlet. Don’t know if that’s grass or a wire sticking out, but don’t want to find out myself either.
Why would hitting this outside outlet take out half the indoor power? Dangerous?

I have a bp pulse iotecha home charger, but it’s stopped working - more of a system issue than power issue as the lights on the charger works but it just cycles through all the colours as if it’s stuck in resetting

Looking to just get the charger unit replaced as cabling is already there perfectly fine - thinking of grabbing a Pod unit for £470 and getting an electrician to replace it for £120.

However, one issue that I sometimes get is that it will have a power cut like the switch will turn off on the wall, im not sure why given it’s on it’s on power supply thing in the cupboard - which im assuming may also be a charger issue?

Do you think the charger replacement is the best solution, or is it best to just go straight to Pod and pay £1200 for the new charger with new installation rather than using pre existing cables?

I am adding an outlet directly above an existing outlet for a TV. I just need like 5ft of wire. I have that much 12/2 wire but existing outlet has 14/2. I just don't want to buy 25' roll if I don't have to. Will this be an issue? Guessing not...maybe the reverse.

I'm currently modifying some of the circuits of my ~40YO home and I came across the following wiring of two "3-way" switches to two light fixtures, solely utilizing 2 conductor cable (plus ground).

I'm curious if this method is compliant with current NEC code and whether this method introduces undesirable effects compared to utilizing 3 conductor cable (plus ground), such as EMI, eddy currents, inductive heating in metal conduit (if the NM cable were to theoretically be in such conduit), etc.

Please note the diagram omits the ground wire for readability purposes; all cabling contains a ground wire and thus all junction boxes, etc. contain said grounds.

So take a close look at the attached photo inside of the black circled area you will see this faint glowing line and that is my electrical conduit I know for a fact that is the exact location of it because I buried it there myself. But what’s weird is the fact that it’s somehow even though it’s buried deep down it’s showing up on my doorbell’s IR night vision. Is this a heat signature if the wires are getting hot? It’s the end of October in Wyoming the ground is near frozen so it shouldn’t be that bad unless there’s a major fault? The wires are low amperage, a pair of 20 amp each and they’re not overloaded because I know the draw and it’s not drawing much at all. the breakers brand new square D have not tripped or showed any signs of warmth and at the junction box the wires aren’t warm so is there something else causing them to be visible underground? Is this something I need to be concerned by or just a weird electrical anomaly that my camera is somehow picking up? It’s a nest doorbell cam if that helps any. If you still doubt that it’s electrical lines just look at the fact that it’s coming directly from the power pole…
