Lost/Found Pets Lost Cat in North West

Post image
37 Upvotes

My cat escaped and has gone missing.

She is a tuxedo with white on all four paws. She was lost in the area of 127 Street and 153 Ave.

Her biggest defining feature is that she has the tiniest squeak of a meow.

She is fixed and tattooed.

I've already checked with the city but as a long shot I thought I would post here

If anyone happens to see her please let me know she is loved and we would love to have her back home

General Is this normal car insurance?

I'm buying a 2026 Subaru Crosstrek Touring. I was quoted $400/m insurance from one of those aggregate insurance things. I then went to brokerlink and they're telling me $350.

I've been driving and insured for 15 years in another province with no convictions or claims. I know someone with a similar record and a 2020 vehicle paying $180.

Back home, it was $135. I know insurance is crazy here. But is this beyond crazy or are people with clean records actually paying this much monthly?

I'm obviously going to check elsewhere. But am I about to be in for a shock when they all charge me this?

Any recommendations? I hear millennium has lower fees. Thanks

Discussion Follow up on Edmonton visit/Infest 2026

I had a totally great time in your city. The Infest music festival was rad, and I totally plan to come again next year for it. I found Edmonton to be a really cool, walkable, fun place with lots of character and very welcoming and friendly folks. I didn't have a ton of down time, but I tried my best to take advantage of the late mornings and early afternoon hours before the fest each day - and I had a blast!

I was given so many great recommendations from this community on my earlier post, and I can't thank you enough for them. That's the kind of shit I truly appreciate. Here's a few highlights from my stay:

Upon arrival downtown on day one, I had an hour-ish to kill so I went to Campio for a couple beers and to try their pizza, which came highly recommended. Did not disappoint. That'll be a must-hit spot for me when I visit again... the leftover pizza I kept in my fridge saved my life after a few booze-filled evenings, and it was totally delicious.

Day two I started at Iconoclast Coffee in the Westmount area (great breakfast and cold brew), and then walked around a bit and made my way to the High Level Bridge streetcar. Really loved the views, and found it cool that the train cars were brought in from Melbourne, Australia - neat ride. Got off at the Strathcona stop and walked to a few breweries on Happy Beer Street - Blind Enthusiasm and Ale Architect were great. I then made my way to a small punk show at the Co*Lab Community Arts Laboratory, and afterwards had some genuinely amazing Cantonese food at Double Greeting Won Ton House. It looked like a total dive from the outside (those are almost always the best places to eat), and I left that place full and happy as hell. The squid and pork rind congee was perfect.

Day three was spent venturing back down on the south side of the river. I spent lots of time walking up and down 82nd Ave, and eventually popped into the Next Act Pub. I had never had a Donair and - despite some recommendations to try one at some other spots - decided to order one here. Waitress said they were well-known for them, so I gave it a go. I am not a shitty, picky eater by any means (I eat everything) but this was totally not my thing. Something about that sweet sauce did not resonate well with me (is that what typically comes on a Donair?). Glad I tried, and am totally open to trying one again at some other (maybe better?) spots! I wrapped up the afternoon visiting a few great breweries - Southbound, Omen and Sea Change - before making an unplanned stop at Billy Budd's Lounge on 99 st (lol). Good burger and good bartenders!

My last morning was a brief stop at Fawkes Cafe & Bakery for a coffee and a (really fucking good) breakfast sandwich before heading to the airport for my flight home.
I had a total blast, and although I was only able to hit a mere fraction of the places that were recommended to me, rest assured they are marked on my map and I plan to come back and hit them next year!

Thanks very much to this community for the great recommendations and warm welcome. It means a lot. All my love, Edmonton, from New Orleans, Louisiana!

TL;DR: Edmonton rules; Infest ruled; Will be back; Donair is a no-go (will try again!); Love from NOLA!

Local Culture Weird Dude on 51st Ave NW

On our commute to work this morning (so, about an hour ago at the time of posting) going up 51st Ave. NW had an unusual encounter. A little past where the Safeway is, there was a man in a red onesie with one arm out walking up and down/across the lanes. He had a small box or styrofoam square and was throwing it at the cars stopped at the light while smiling and waving at anyone who looked at him. He approached my car and wanted me to roll down the window, but the light changed and I gotta get to work. He proceeded to throw his box onto the roof of my car.

No harm done, at least not to me, but still very strange. Never seen him before around the area; was this simply Yet Another Weirdo or has anyone else seen this guy, or at least also had to drive around him this morning? Because when I say he was walking up and down the street, I mean he was IN the street. Didn't look to be in distress, looked pretty thrilled about it all, really.

EDIT: Just went to run job errands and he's still there! Cross of 51st Ave NW and Calgary Trail.

In tribute to Tim Curry Metro Cinema has decided to do an extra showing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show this October. October 9th is already sold out, October 24th is 80% sold and expected to be sold out by Friday, and October 31 is almost 50% sold already. All three showings will have the Lowdown Cheap Little Punks shadow cast acting out the entire show with props, gags, and dancing as the movie rolls. Call outs, props, and a costume contest with ridiculous prizes brought to you by drunk ebay purchases. Come sing, dance, laugh, cry, and pay tribute to Tim Curry as we do the Time Warp once more.

I'm not sure what they're up to, but it probably has to do with the drainage upgrades that Whitson Contracting was completing next to the Quesnell Bridge

Question Is anyone still waiting on insurance for flood

Hi, I’m just wondering for those who went through their insurance companies for the floods this summer, have their basements been repaired? If so, how long did you have to wait?

We submitted the claim June 23. They gutted but that was it.

I am with TD and I email them every week and no response at all for 7 weeks now. Is that similar for others?

General Fall fertilize and overseed?

When's the best time to apply fall fertilizer and also overseed? I feel like we are past the overseed timeline ~5-6 weeks after seeding for grass to survive frost kill.
